Qatar Chamber Chairman calls on Russian companies to invest in Qatar

DOHA: Chairman of Qatar Chamber (QC), Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani (pictured) emphasized the Chamber's commitment to strengthening economic and trade relations with Russia. This came at the Qatar-Russia Business Forum held in Moscow, on the sidelines of the official visit of the Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to the Russian Federation.
The Chamber's delegation included QC Second Vice Chairman Rashid bin Hamad Al Athba, and board members Eng. Ali bin Abdullatif Al Misned, Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Obaidli and Rashid bin Nasser Al Kaabi.
In his remarks at the forum, Sheikh Khalifa said that the forum represents an ideal platform to find the best ways to improve investment opportunities and increase the volume of economic and trade exchange between the State of Qatar and the Russian Federation under the guidance of the wise leadership in both countries.
Sheikh Khalifa underscored the active and pivotal role played by the Qatar-Russia Joint Business Council in strengthening the ties of cooperation between the business communities of the two countries, noting that building strategic partnerships between businessmen from both sides would serve the common interests and promote economic integration between Qatar and Russia.
He also pointed out that the private sector is a key pillar in advancing economic cooperation in both countries.
QC Chairman said that there are many Russian companies operating in the Qatari market in various sectors such as energy, renewable energy, tourism, digital technology, agriculture, and industry, affirming that the Qatari market is characterized by an attractive investment climate, supported by modern infrastructure, encouraging incentives, and modern laws.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) and Stryx Sports, a multi-sport program provider, today announced a multiyear collaboration for Stryx Sports to launch and operate the first NBA Basketball School in Qatar. NBA Basketball School Qatar will provide tuition-based basketball development programming for youth ages 6-18, including skill development, 5-on-5 scrimmages and games, and life-skills programming. The program will tip off with a summer camp in Doha from Sunday, June 22 – Saturday, June 28. Etihad launches four daily flights from Abu Dhabi to Karachi

Etihad Airways, the UAE's national carrier, has announced it is increasing its flight frequencies to Karachi, Pakistan. The expansion is part of the airline's commitment to provide UAE residents and tourists with more travel options and enhanced connectivity. The flights will be launched on October 1, 2025 and tickets can already be purchased. Flights from Abu Dhabi to Karachi will depart at 2.25am, 7.50am, 2.40pm and 11.40pm. From Karachi to Abu Dhabi, the flights will depart at 5.15am, 6.35am, 12pm and 9.35pm. Direct flights between the two cities usually take around two hours and 15 minutes. In total, the expansion will bring the number of flights to Pakistan to 60, showcasing Etihad 's commitment to the region. The enhanced flight frequencies are planned in such a way as to allow for maximum convenience and seamless connectivity across the carrier's expanding global network. Why the increase in flights to Karachi? Expatriates make up a significant majority of the UAE's population, totaling approximately 10.04 million people. According to the demographics, Indians form the largest group, with 4.36 million residents, followed by Pakistanis, who make up 1.9 million of the population. The numbers are evident as the flights from the UAE to these two destinations are on the rise.
