Dabo Swinney raves about spring football standout wide receiver Tyler Brown
Tyler Brown has caught Dabo Swinney's attention this spring, and in the best way possible. Clemson's head coach called Brown the receiver he is 'most proud of' following Wednesday's scrimmage at Memorial Stadium.
After a breakout freshman season in 2023, Brown's sophomore year was cut short by an ankle injury that required surgery. He played in just four regular season games and two postseason contests in 2024, preserving a redshirt. Now fully healthy, Brown has been a standout during spring practice.
'The guy that I'm probably most proud of is Tyler Brown,' Swinney said. 'It's been great to see him have the type of spring that he's had.'
Brown was injured in Clemson's second game last season against Appalachian State and didn't return until the ACC Championship Game against SMU. He played limited snaps in the postseason, including a brief appearance in the College Football Playoff loss to Texas. Over six games, he caught five passes for 30 yards.
This spring, however, Brown has looked like his old self. Swinney pointed to a 'pretty special' performance in Monday's practice, where Brown made multiple big-time plays in competitive situations.
'His confidence is really getting back where it was,' Swinney said. 'But he's just got a lot of experience now, and much more maturity to go with it.'
A former standout at Greenville High School, Brown emerged as a key playmaker in 2023, leading Clemson in receptions (52) and receiving yards (531) while hauling in four touchdowns. He became just the fifth Clemson freshman since 2010 to record 50 catches in a season, joining the likes of Antonio Williams, Artavis Scott, Sammy Watkins, and DeAndre Hopkins.
Now back to full strength, Brown appears poised to reclaim a major role in Clemson's offense heading into the 2025 season.

Alex Cooper's Former Coach Says She Has ‘No Recollection' of Harassment Alleged in ‘Call Me Alex'

After 'Call Her Daddy' host Alex Cooper alleged she suffered years worth of sexual harassment from Boston University soccer coach Nancy Feldman, former assistant coach Casey Brown said she had 'no recollection' of the incidents mentioned in Hulu's 'Call Her Alex' docuseries. Cooper told The Boston Globe in an interview published Friday that, amidst a mononucleosis outbreak, she was the only player called into the office to explain 'who' she'd been with and 'how' she got it. The podcaster said she pleaded with Brown, ''Casey, help me',' but instead, Brown 'did nothing about it' and simply turned away. In a statement to the Globe, Brown said she had 'no recollection of what has been suggested' by Cooper. Brown went on to say, 'But let me be absolutely clear: I would never ignore, dismiss or turn away from anyone — a player, a teammate, a friend, a family member — who sought my help in any capacity. As a coach, I understood the weight of my responsibility to protect my players and act accordingly. The suggestion that I would do otherwise is completely false.' The university also issued a statement on Friday, insisting that it has a 'zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment,'as well as a 'robust system of resources, support and staff dedicated to student well-being' and 'a thorough reporting process through our Equal Opportunity Office.' 'We encourage members of our community to report any concerns, and we remain committed to fostering a safe and secure campus environment for all,' the statement concluded. Cooper was on the Boston team from 2013 to 2015 with a full athletic scholarship. As she explained in 'Call Her Alex,' she did not feel she could speak out as it would jeopardize that scholarship. In the two-part Hulu series, the podcaster said she noticed Feldman 'really starting to fixate on me, way more than any other teammate of mine, and it was confusing,' during her sophomore year of college. She added that her coach leveraged field time in exchange for stories about Cooper's sex life and dating history. Cooper claimed she also made specific comments about her body and 'always wanted to be alone with me.' She also alleged in the documentary that the BU athletic director Drew Marrochello, who per the university's website still serves in this position, declined to hear the evidence of harassment when her parents tried to present it to him. According to Boston University, Feldman retired in 2022. Toward the end of filming the documentary, Cooper said she found out that other women younger than her experienced the same abuse she did at the hands of her soccer coach. 'Everything changed for me that day,' she said in an episode of her podcast this week. Everything LSU football coach Brian Kelly said this week about facing Clemson in opener

Everything LSU football coach Brian Kelly said this week about facing Clemson in opener Brian Kelly enters Year 4 at LSU having gone 0-3 in season openers, while Clemson has dropped three of its last four Week 1 contests. Here's what Kelly said this week about facing Clemson. LSU football coach Brian Kelly knows how big a win over Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers would be in the 2025 season opener. Set to enter his fourth season at LSU, Kelly appeared on ESPN's 'College GameDay Podcast' with hosts Rece Davis and Pete Thamel earlier this week and was asked about his team's Week 1 matchup at Clemson Memorial Stadium. LSU has dropped each of its three season openers under Kelly, including two to Florida State. Last year, the Bayou Bengals fell to USC in Las Vegas. With quarterback Cade Klubnik leading one of the nation's best offenses into 2025, winning in a hostile environment won't be easy for any team, even one as talented as LSU. Dating back to 2020, LSU has dropped five straight openers. Its last Week 1 win came in 2019, a season in which quarterback Joe Burrow led the Tigers on a 15-0 march to the national championship that culminated with a win over Clemson in the title game at the Superdome in New Orleans. Clemson has scuffled a bit in its season openers of late, too. The Tigers were overtaken by Georgia in a 34-3 Week 1 loss last year at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. A year earlier, Clemson fell in a 28-7 upset at Duke on a Monday night in Durham on Labor Day Weekend. The Tigers have dropped three of their past four season openers. Here's everything Brian Kelly said on the 'College GameDay Podcast' this week about facing Clemson in Week 1 of the 2025 college football season. Brian Kelly talks up LSU defense, says Tigers 'need' to beat Clemson "Let me put in the caveat: I did not schedule these games. I just want to be clear. But the fact of the matter is they are exciting openers and unfortunately, we have not done well in those openers and haven't had the outcomes that we wanted. Clemson will be a great challenge, but it's one that I think more than anything else, we have a football team that can go on the road, and that you have to do. "You have to have a defense that travels. We finally have got the roster in a position where I believe these are the kind of games that you want to go play, and you need to win them. I'm not going to make any other statements other than the fact that we need to win the opener because we're 0-3. "And not that this will be a deciding factor in whether you get in the playoffs or not -- it is a long haul -- but we need it as a program, for the fan support and people to be rallying around this team, which I believe is going to be an outstanding team." Kelly says LSU has 'circled' Clemson game in Week 1 "We've circled the game. I've never done that before in openers. It's all over our weight room, it's all over our workouts. We're wearing shirts. I mean, we're doing the kumbaya of we're playing Clemson, and we need to beat Clemson. So, is that too much pressure? No, I think we've got enough mature, veteran guys on this team. We had a clear conversation about why we were doing it, and they're all in on that." Brian Kelly says Clemson is a top five team "Look, Clemson is a top five team. And we think we have a legitimate roster that has been supported over time and in the transfer portal, so a good combination. Like I said, I've been in enough of these games. You go on the road, you better bring a defense and I think this is the first year where I believe, defensively, we have the pieces in place to go into a very difficult place to play and come out victorious." Clemson vs. LSU will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Aug. 30 at Clemson Memorial Stadium. The game will be televised on ABC. You can watch the full video of Kelly's interview on the ESPN podcast below. Former NFL star Brown wanted for attempted murder: police

Former NFL star Antonio Brown is wanted by police in Florida on charges of attempted murder (ELSA) Police in Florida have issued a warrant for the arrest of former NFL star Antonio Brown on a charge of attempted murder, authorities confirmed on Friday. Super Bowl-winner Brown is wanted in connection with an incident at an amateur boxing event in Miami on May 16. Advertisement A copy of the warrant said "several" witnesses saw Brown fire shots following a physical altercation with another man. The warrant said Brown had grabbed the handgun from a security guard. An off-duty police officer providing security for the event detained Brown before other police arrived on the scene. No gun was found on Brown, and the other man involved in the fight with the ex-Pittsburgh Steelers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver was not immediately located. The arrest warrant said two spent shell casings were recovered from the scene along with a discarded firearm holster. Brown later addressed the incident in a post on X on May 17, saying he had been "jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me." Advertisement "Police temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me," Brown wrote. "I went home that night and was not arrested." The incident is the latest in a long line of legal problems faced by Brown, who spent most of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers before later winning a Super Bowl with Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021. Brown was accused of sexual assault by a former trainer in a 2019 civil suit which he later settled, and also pleaded no contest to burglary and battery in 2020 after an incident with a removal truck company outside his home. Brown's NFL career came to an end after he famously removed his jersey and stormed off the field during a Tampa Bay game against the New York Jets in 2022. rcw/bb
