Indian drug peddler gets bullet injury, five arrested with narcotics
A drug peddler carrying brown sugar sustained bullet injury in his left leg during a police action, said Janak Bahadur Shahi, spokesperson at Narcotic Drugs Control Bureau of Nepal Police.
Mohamad Islam, 36, from Kishangunj district in India, was shot while trying to run away during a police action in Bhadrapur Municipality of Jhapa district of Eastern Nepal Saturday morning.
The police recovered 110 grams of brown sugar from Islam, who is undergoing treatment at the Provincial Hospital in Bhadrapur.
In another incident, Sekh Sabilakhtar, 37, a resident of East Champaran in India, was arrested in Rapti Municipality of Chitawan district on Saturday morning along with 671 kgs marijuana.
During a security check, 43 packets of marijuana were recovered from a false box above the driver's cabin of his Indian registration number plate bearing truck, according to a Nepal Police news bulletin. Sabilakhtar has been taken into custody.
The 29-year-old Indian woman from Bihar was heading towards Nepal on foot with two accomplices from India carrying the contraband, police added. PTI SBP NPK NPK

Ahmedabad: A day after the Gujarat ATS arrested a 30-year-old woman from Bengaluru, Shama Parveen Ansari, the agency officers on Wednesday claimed that she operated social media accounts used to spread 'al-Qaida in the Indian subcontinent' (AQIS) propaganda and incite jihad. Officials said Parveen was a key digital propagandist who disseminated radical content calling for armed revolt and religious violence. Shama Parveen was arrested from her rented house in RT Nagar, Bengaluru, on Tuesday. According to Gujarat ATS, she operated key social media handles disseminating jihadi content. "This arrest is a part of an ongoing investigation into AQIS-linked radicalisation of Indian youth. We have evidence that Shama Parveen was the user behind Instagram account 'strangers_nation02' and Facebook pages 'Strangers of The Nation' and 'Strangers of The Nation 2'," said Gujarat ATS in an official statement. Seeking her remand for 14 days, assistant public prosecutor Sandeep Gautam submitted before the court that she had been operating an Instagram ID since 2022, several Facebook pages, and was accused of uploading jihadist speeches by al-Qaida in Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) leader Maulana Assim Umar. The content called for armed revolution against the govt of India, Ghazwa-e-Hind, religious hatred, and terrorist attacks. Ansari was accused of posting jihadi speeches by AQIS's Imam Anwar al Awlaki and Lahore's Lal Masjid's Maulana Abdul Aziz on these social media accounts, thereby inciting Indian Muslim youth to carry out violence on religious grounds against members of other religions, the ATS stated in its remand application. The probe agency wanted to question her in custody also to know more about the earlier arrest of other alleged AQIS supporters. Fardeen Shaikh, a resident of Ahmedabad; Mohd Faiq, a resident of Delhi; Zeeshan Ali, a resident of Noida in Uttar Pradesh; and Saifullah Qureshi, a resident of Modasa in Gujarat's Aravalli district, were arrested last week on allegations of being involved in propagating AQIS ideology. Ganja Worth Rs 40 Crore Seized At Hyderabad Airport, Woman Arrested
Hyderabad: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Wednesday recovered 400 kg of hydroponic ganja from the luggage of a woman passenger at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here, an official release said. The value of the ganja is estimated to be Rs 40 crore, the release issued by the NCB said. Acting on intelligence outputs, NCB officials intercepted the woman passenger and seized 400 kg of the contraband from her two check-in bags, it said. Investigation revealed that the woman procured the contraband from Bangkok and returned to India via Dubai to avoid suspicion as there have been many instances where hydroponic ganja has been recovered from passengers coming directly from Bangkok to various Indian airports, the NCB said. Further investigation is underway to identify the woman's links in Thailand and also in India, it said.
