Helen Skelton shows off her toned figure in a bikini at the pool with her children - after 'cooling off' romance with Gethin Jones

Daily Maila day ago
Helen Skelton showed off her toned figure in a bikini as she spent some time at a local pool with her children.
The TV presenter, 42, who is said to have recently 'cooled off her romance with fellow TV star Gethin Jones, enjoyed a dip in the middle of the heatwave.
Giving an insight into how she had spent the school holidays with her children so far, Helen shared a montage of clips to Instagram on Thursday.
She shares three children, Ernie, nine, Louis, eight, and Elsie, four, with her ex-husband, Richie Myler.
In the first clip, Helen held out an inflatable in the pool as her daughter jumped off the edge and into the water.
She captioned the post: 'Water babies. Community pools and shallow streams for the heatwave win.'

Elsewhere, Gethin was spotted on celebrity dating app Raya after calling time on his romance with Helen.
The Morning Live hosts have grown increasingly close in recent months after spending time with each other outside work, including a steamy spa break.
MailOnline revealed in May how the pair's 'flirty' on screen chemistry had 'blossomed' into a deeper connection and they were seen acting like a 'couple' at charity event last year courtesy of their 'tactile' behaviour towards each other.
And to add extra intrigue to their secret romance, the hosts' respective reps both refused to comment on the duo's relationship after being quizzed amid reports they were spotted leaving the BAFTA TV awards together.
However, Gethin, 47, has delivered a blow to Morning Live viewers eager for the presenter and Helen to go public with their romance.
The rugby fan has changed the location of his Raya profile to alert prospective suitors he's in Australia, where he was watching the British and Irish Lions with a group of male pals a few weeks ago.
An insider said: 'Gethin is on the prowl Down Under which puts the nail in the coffin for his romance with Helen.
'He's there with pals but keen to meet other women. There is no way Helen would stand for that if they were together and he has far too much respect for her to even go behind her back.'

They added: 'Despite having an increasingly close connection it's cooled down significantly which is gutting for fans who really wanted them to be together.'
Daily Mail contacted their representatives for comment at the time.
Helen has been single since her high profile 2022 break up from husband Richie Myler, the father of her three children.
The rugby league player was married to Helen for nine years with the former Strictly star writing on Instagram that she was very 'sad' he had 'left the family home'.
Richie has since moved on with Stephanie Thirkill, the daughter of Leeds Rhinos president Andrew Thirkill, and they have welcomed two children, Olivia and Freddie.

5 best summer duvets 2025 UK, lightweight and cooling bedding for heatwave relief

In the summer, having a duvet to match the hot temperatures can help avoid sticky, sleepless nights. With so many brands to choose from at different price points, it can be tricky to know where to start when choosing a summer duvet. 6 Ideally, you would want at least two seasonal duvets, and for the summer, look for a duvet between 2.5 and 4.5 togs. Or, there are duvets that work for all seasons, often with handy layers that clip or button together and can be separated depending on temperature. There's something for every budget, so you don't have to splurge to sleep well, but premium brands are also popular. We've tested some of the best options available right now to add to upgrade your summer s l eep. Best duvets at a Glance: How we tested the best summer duvets As these are specifically for summer, one of the main considerations was temperature regulation, which we tested by using each duvet overall several weeks and varying temperatures. Another obvious factor was the comfort level, which we evaluated based on the feel of the material against the skin and the weight distribution. Value for money is also key, and with a variety of duvets at different of different price points, we thought about how the cost measured up with the quality, versatility and guarantee. All the duvets we tried were tested over a minimum of three weeks, giving time to assess against all our key criteria. 1. Silentnight Summer Fresh 4.5 tog duvet 6 Silentnight Summer Fresh 4.5 tog duvet, from £35 Pros: Lightweight with great temperature regulating properties, machine washable, anti-allergy, five-year guarantee Rating: 5/5 Testing out this duvet coincidentally came at the same time as the hottest week we've experienced in the UK this year, meaning I was truly putting the Silentnight Summer Fresh duvet to the test. Straight off the bat, I was impressed as the duvet arrived in a compact package and was extremely easy to unpack and unroll. The duvet is incredibly light and soft to the touch, thanks to its microfibre cover, which also has an anti-allergy filling—perfect for keeping those windows open at night whilst staying unaffected. With its light tog rating of 4.5 (with 15 being the maximum tog rating), it is ideal for those hot, sticky summer nights, and sleeping under this duvet felt both comfortable and manageable. I had the best sleep I've had in a long time, as I feel I can't sleep in the summer without something covering me, but usual duvets have always led to a battle in the middle of the night due to overheating. However, I truly felt temperature regulation at work with this duvet, as it was breathable, and I could feel the heat easily escaping whenever I rolled over or changed position. A necessity for the summer heat, and all year round if you find yourself to be a hot sleeper! Specs: Machine washable at 40°C, anti-allergy filling endorsed by the British Allergy Foundation, microfibre cover 2. Soak and Sleep Soft As Down Microfibre duvet 6 Pros: Luxurious-feeling, really does replicate down, comes in handy zipped bag for storage, long guarantee Cons: Not as cheap as some other low tog duvets Rating: 4.5/5 Before I even used the Soak and Sleep duvet, I was impressed by the zip-up storage bag, which is ideal for keeping the duvet neatly tucked away when swapping it out for the winter or if you need it out of the way when washing your bedding. In terms of the duvet itself, I was most sceptical about the claim to feel 'as soft as down' but as soon as felt it I understood why it was described like this. The filling is made from microfibre, which is not uncommon in duvets, but this felt particularly soft, and lofty yet lightweight, giving the duvet a fluffy feel. I tried the 4.5 tog duvet, which is named 'Summer Warmth', and felt it was ideal for summer nights, offering just enough weight to have a restful sleep. There is also an even lighter version which is 3 tog, however would probably only be beneficial in extremely high temperatures. If you're looking for a duvet that feels luxurious but has a mid-range price tag, the Soak and Sleep Soft As Down Microfibre duvet is a great option - it would also be ideal for a guest bedroom as it can be easily packed and stored away too. Specs: Machine washable at 30°C, tumble dryer-safe, good for allergy sufferers, five-year guarantee 3. Emma 4-Seasons Duvet 6 Emma 4-Seasons Duvet, from £111 Rating: 5/5 I've always heard good things about Emma, which is best known for its premium mattresses, so I was keen to see if the 4-Seasons Duvet would work for me. Before I even tried the duvet, I already loved the idea of having three togs in one, as it's super versatile for all-year round. The duvet is comprised of two layers - a 3.5 tog spring summer layer, and a 7 tog autumn/winter layer, which clip together to offer a 10.5 tog option, minimising storage. I tried all three combinations across several weeks, and enjoyed how easy it was to switch the thickness. The overall feel of the duvet is very luxurious and bouncy, with an almost down-like feel, despite the materials being feather-free. Even when I used the combined 10.5 tog on summer evenings, because the materials felt breathable, I found I didn't overheat. The only thing to dislike is the expense - the duvet is the most costly I've tried, starting from £111. However, considering you're essentially getting three duvets in one, if you're looking to upgrade your sleep set-up, it's worth the investment. Specs: 3-in-1, recycled polyester fill, machine washable up to 60°C 4. Dreams Anti-Allergy 4.5 Tog Duvet 6 Dreams Anti-Allergy 4.5 Tog Duvet, from £30 BUY AT DREAMS Pros: Feels breathable, lightweight ideal for hot days Cons: Nothing unique about it Rating: 4.5/5 The Dreams Anti-Allergy 4.5 Tog Duvet is proof that you don't need to spend a lot of money to get a good-quality duvet. I tested it during hot weather, including on several 30-degree days, and found the 4.5 tog was ideal for summer. It offered just enough weight to feel cosy and comfortable, without being too thick or tempting me too kick it off during the night. The anti-allergy claim has been endorsed by the British Allergy foundation, which appealed to me as a hayfever sufferer who can also has sensitive skin that can react to certain fibres. With this duvet I had no irritation at all, and it felt soft, cool and breathable. While you could argue there's nothing unique to write home about, it's worth mentioning that this duvet is highly affordable - with prices starting from £30, and it does the job for summer nights. 5. Panda Cloud Bamboo duvet 6 Pros: Lightweight, soft and fluffy, hypoallergenic, 10-year guarantee Rating: 5/5 For those who really value their eight (or more) hours kip, the Panda Cloud Duvet is an investment that sets high expectations – and it delivers. Immediately, you notice its remarkably light feel, and while you may sceptical about its ability to retain warmth, the duvet proves itself once in use. It offers a comforting feel that's neither too heavy nor too light. Thanks to bamboo's natural thermo-regulating properties, the duvet ensures cosiness in winter and coolness in summer. If you were to critique the thermoregulation capabilities, it maybe leans slightly towards the warmer side, but this is easily remedied by slipping a leg outside the duvet. Designed to replicate the fluffiness and luxury of down feathers, it uses organic silky bamboo fibres and offers the indulgent feel without the inconvenience of stray feathers. For those who struggle with allergies, this duvet could be the ultimate solution. Composed of 50% bamboo and 50% nano-microfibre (sourced from recycled water bottles), it is completely hypoallergenic. Allergy sufferers, who often rely on air purifiers to combat issues such as shedding pets or hay fever, should find that this duvet causes no irritation whatsoever. Though the price point is higher than many high-street alternatives, the 10-year guarantee and exceptional quality make it a worthwhile investment for blissful, uninterrupted sleep. Specs: 10.5 tog, 50% Bamboo, 50% Nano-Microfibre, 10-year guarantee, machine-washable Best summer duvets FAQs What tog is a summer duvet? A summer duvet will be in the lower tog range, usually between 2.5 and 4.5, while winter duvets can be as high as 15 tog. Many people opt for 4.5 tog for the summer, as it offers the comfort and light weight of a sleep layer, but also works for high temperatures. On particularly hot nights or during heatwaves, it could be worth dropping to 2.5 or 3 tog duvet. Tog doesn't just mean the thickness of a duvet, it accounts for the thermal resistance, which determines how warm it keeps you. Are feather duvets cool in summer? Materials are vital for temperature-regulation, and there's a misconception that feather duvets are only for winter because they provide too much warmth. In fact, you can buy both goose and duck feather duvets in low togs, and they're still suitable for summer. Down, which is the undercoating of duck or geese feathers, is often found in duvets. The super-soft filling is breathable and helps to regulate heat and humidity, therefore it's great for summer. However, the downside to feather duvets is often the cost, as due to the natural material, they're often pricier than synthetic duvets. There are several brands that also offer duvets that have a similar texture to down, so you can replicate the feeling on a budget. How do cooling duvets work? The cooling effect of duvets often comes down to the materials they're made from. Cotton is lightweight, breathable and promotes air circulation, while bamboo is temperature-regulating and moisture-wicking. Night sweats can be uncomfortable, and cooling materials work by drawing sweat from the body and directing it to the duvet to disperse.

The full Strictly line-up – and who will win

The final Strictly contestant for 2025 has been announced, giving the show a line-up that is the usual mix of actors, musicians, athletes, presenters and reality TV and (a fixture in recent years) social media stars. Karen Carney, the former England women's footballer, Kristian Nairn, a DJ who formerly appeared in Game of Thrones, and Ross King, a reporter on ITV's Good Morning Britain, were the final three names to be revealed on Friday morning. Here is the full rundown of contestants, and our critic Michael Hogan's thoughts on who will fly, who will flop and who might be in the running for the glitterball: Who is in the 2025 line-up? Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink – ex-footballer The Dutch international has played for some of the world's biggest clubs, including Atlético Madrid and Chelsea. He has gone on to have a successful career as a football pundit and served as assistant coach for the England national team. He joined Strictly after his daughters introduced him to the show. 'I'm a father of only girls and Strictly is part of our home life,' he said. 'I've got into it. I like the show. Let's have a go. Honestly, I have no idea what to expect. I'm competitive I'm going to do my best. Otherwise, I'm going to get some serious stick at home.' Ross King – LA correspondent on ITV Scottish presenter Ross King made a surprise announcement during his Hollywood news segment on Lorraine: he announced the next Strictly contestant was himself. King appears daily on ITV1's Good Morning Britain and Lorraine as their Los Angeles correspondent, delivering all the showbiz news. The 63-year-old has also been a regular fixture on US television, winning four News Emmys for his red-carpet reporting. He was made an MBE in 2018. 'From the bright lights of Hollywood to the glittering ballroom, it's a dream come true to be part of such an iconic show,' he said. 'I can't wait to learn from the best, meet my fellow contestants, and, most importantly… try not to step on too many toes. Let's give this the best that I can. As my mum always said: 'You'll never know till you give it a go.' Chris Robshaw – former England rugby captain Chris Robshaw is very familiar with winning, having led the England rugby team to a Six Nations Grand Slam victory in 2016. He captained the side 43 times and played more than 300 games for his club Harlequins, becoming the only player to win the Aviva Premiership Player of the Year Award twice. He retired in 2022. Robshaw is the ninth rugby player to take part in Strictly, but none has ever lifted the glitterball trophy. Robshaw said: 'This is about as far out of my comfort zone as it gets. I'm hoping to take my dad dancing to a whole new level, and my mum can't wait to drag me along to her zumba class. Let's see if a rugby sidestep works in the cha cha cha.' La Voix – singer, entertainer and Drag Race UK finalist Drag Race fans will know Chris Dennis, aka La Voix, as a finalist from the 2024 series, but the performer has also been seen on ITV's Queens For the Night, Paramount's Queen of the Universe, and as a semi-finalist on Britain's Got Talent. No doubt we're in for some spectacular outfits on the dancefloor. La Voix said: 'I've performed for royalty, RuPaul and Simon Cowell, but nothing fills me with more excitement (and quite a bit of terror) than the thought of dancing in front of millions on live Saturday night TV. Strictly is a national institution and I can't wait to get started. All that's left to say is: good luck to my partner. Here's hoping they can help me go from La Voix into La Danse.' Balvinder Sopal – EastEnders star The actress is best known for playing Suki Kaur Panesar (now Unwin) in EastEnders, but has had a 20-plus-year career spanning theatre, radio, film and television, with roles in Call the Midwife, Doctors, Hollyoaks and Coronation Street. She joined EastEnders in 2019. 'Being on Strictly is a dream that I held on to, with no proof that it would ever happen,' she said. 'Working on EastEnders and being a part of Strictly Come Dancing is the stuff that dreams are made of. I'm far too excited to put into words how I feel but I'm incredibly excited at the prospect of dancing across the ballroom.' Stefan Dennis – Neighbours star Best known as Paul from Neighbours, 66-year-old Stefan Dennis first appeared in the soap in its very first episode in 1985 and has played the dastardly businessman on and off ever since (Neighbours is finally due to end in December after being cancelled by Amazon Freevee). Prior to Neighbours, he also appeared widely on Australian television, including Prisoner, The Henderson Kids, The Sullivans, Young Doctors and Sons and Daughters. He's only the third Neighbours star to appear on the contest, after Jason Donovan and Holly Valance, who came third and fourth respectively in the 2011 series. Dennis said: 'This is an opportunity for me to once again learn to step out of my comfort zone in the world of television. Looking forward to the sparkle and reaching for the sky.' Alex Kingston – ER and Doctor Who star Born in Surrey, Alex Kingston achieved fame in the US as a star of 1990s medical drama ER, where she played Doctor Elizabeth Corday opposite George Clooney. She went on to play River Song in Doctor Who and to appear in superhero series Arrow and supernatural drama A Discovery of Witches. She was inspired to go on Strictly after her friend, the actress Sarah Hadland, gave it a twirl last year: 'I thought, 'My God, I'm in my sixties – just go for it. What have you to lose?'' Thomas Skinner – former Apprentice contestant Skinner came to fame on the 2019 series of The Apprentice, where he was fired by Lord Sugar in week nine. He's also appeared on shows such as 8 out of 10 Cats, The Wheel, Michael McIntyre's Big Show, Good Morning Britain and Celebrity MasterChef. He made headlines recently thanks to his friendship with JD Vance, and is now mostly known for his presence on social media, where he signs off posts with the catchphrase: 'Bosh.' 'I'm beyond excited to be joining Strictly Come Dancing,' he said. 'I've tackled the boardroom and some big breakfasts in my time but stepping onto the dance floor under that glitter ball is next-level stuff. I've never danced in my life (other than at weddings) but I'm ready to graft and of course have a laugh. Bring on the sequins, sambas and most importantly, the bosh to the ballroom!' Karen Carney – former Lioness and sports TV presenter Now best known for being the lead female pundit for both men's and women's football, across TNT and ITV, Karen Carney was a professional footballer for 18 years, playing for Chelsea, Arsenal and Birmingham City. She also spent 14 years playing for England and, with 144 caps, is the national team's third-most-capped player. She co-hosts the Long Story Short podcast with fellow England alumni Jill Scott. In 2022, she began leading a landmark government review with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, into the 'Future of Women's Football' in the UK, and in 2024 was made an OBE. Carney said: 'It really is a dream come true to be a part of this year's Strictly Come Dancing line-up. I'm such a huge fan of the show and I can't believe I'm finally getting the chance to take part. I'm so excited to meet everyone and get dancing.' Harry Aikines-Aryeetey – Nitro from Gladiators Olympian and multiple-gold-medal-winning Team GB sprinter Harry Aikines-Aryeetey has taken on a new persona since retiring from athletics: as Nitro in the hugely popular reboot of Gladiators. He also took part in last year's Christmas special, where he was partnered with Nancy Xu. He said: 'After the Christmas special, it was so nice I just had to do it twice. I'm so excited to be part of the Strictly family this series, and I'm ready to give it all I've got. I'll be bringing tons of energy to light up the dance floor. Let's hope I'm as quick picking up the routines as I am on the track.' Kristian Nairn – DJ and Hodor in Game of Thrones Alongside his famous role as Hodor ('hold the door!') in Game of Thrones, as well as appearing in pirate comedy Our Flag Means Death, Kristian Nairn is also an internationally renowned house and trance DJ who has played in superclubs around the world. 'This will be a huge challenge for me physically, but I'm ready to rise to it,' said Nairn. 'It's a surreal and wonderful opportunity to shed one of my left feet.' Vicky Pattison – presenter, author and reality star She was crowned Queen of the Jungle on I'm a Celebrity… in 2015, but can she do the same on Strictly? Pattison first came to prominence on Geordie Shore but has since carved out an impressive career making documentaries, writing bestselling novels and memoirs and taking part in reality endurance challenges such as Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins and Arctic Challenge for Comic Relief. She's also a radio and podcast presenter. 'I'm absolutely buzzing to be part of this year's line-up... but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't terrified,' Pattison said. 'I am not a natural dancer. However, it's such an amazing opportunity for me to step out of my comfort zone and to challenge myself in a completely new way, and I just really hope I don't make too much of a fool of myself.' George Clarke – YouTuber and podcaster Not the Channel 4 presenter who loves a treehouse, but the successful social media content creator who is known as a collaborator of fellow social media stars the Sidemen, and has amassed millions of followers on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube with his comedy skits. He also co-hosts The Useless Hotline Podcast. He said: 'Honestly, I've got no idea what I'm doing, but I'm excited to get stuck in… and potentially fall over a fair bit.' Dani Dyer – reality star Actor Danny Dyer 's daughter, Dani Dyer rose to fame in series four of Love Island, where she finished first alongside Jack Fincham and has since gone on to be a guest reporter on the One Show and had an acting cameo on EastEnders, playing a taxi driver opposite her father who portrays series regular Mick Carter. Dyer recently married West Ham footballer Jarrod Bowen. She said: 'It's just a fun magical show. To be asked to do it was such an honour. I'm just so excited. Picking up the routines… being on live telly petrifies me'. Ellie Goldstein – model and actress In 2023, Goldstein made history by becoming the first ever model with Down's syndrome to be featured on the cover of Vogue. As well as appearing on the covers of Glamour, Elle, Mission Mag and Euphoria magazines, she has partnered with Mattel to produce the first Barbie doll with Down's. She's also recently expanded into acting and is a series regular on CBBC's Malory Towers. She said: 'I'm absolutely over the moon to be joining the cast and pros of Strictly Come Dancing this year. It's a show I've loved watching for so long, and the chance to now be part of it feels like a dream. I know it's going to be challenging, but I'm ready to do it with the glitter and glamour and make some magic on that dance floor. Let the Strictly journey begin.' When is Strictly Come Dancing? There's no confirmed date yet, but it usually begins on the second or third weekend of September. Who are the judges? Last year's judges will be returning for 2025. Alongside Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas, former Strictly pro Anton Du Beke has become a permanent fixture. Who are the professional dancers this year? All the pros from last year will be returning. They are Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Amy Dowden, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Gorka Marquez, Luba Mushtuk, Jowita Przystał, Johannes Radebe, Aljaž Škorjanec, Kai Widdrington, Nancy Xu, Carlos Gu, Lauren Oakley, Michelle Tsiakkas and Vito Coppola. They will also be joined by two new recruits: Alexis Warr, who won the 2022 American series So You Think You Can Dance, and Australian ballroom dancer and physiologist Julian Caillon.
