MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (WNCT) — The Carteret County Chamber of Commerce will host their annual Business After Hours Expo on Tuesday, Apr. 29. 2025.
This event will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Crystal Coast Civic Center. It will feature local businesses, nonprofits, service providers, and people from the community looking to network.
It is also open to the public with the entry fee being $5 per person.
'The Expo is like a Business After Hours on steroids,' Director of Membership Services, Julie Naegelen said. 'It has all the fun and fellowship of a regular networking event, but with the added energy of a full-blown trade show.'
Here are some new things offered at this year's event:
Free Professional Headshots made possible by the Small Business Center at Carteret Community College, with Bob Mackowski of Open Aperture Photography.
BuzzCuts Ribbon Cutting Tour, celebrating meaningful milestones with home-based Chamber Member businesses.

"Wine Olympics" returns to China as international expo opens
YINCHUAN, CHINA - Media OutReach Newswire - 11 June 2025 - The Fifth China (Ningxia) International Wine Culture and Tourism Expo opened Monday in Yinchuan, capital of northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, with the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles (CMB) -- dubbed the 'Wine Olympics' -- returning to China after seven years. (Xinhua/Wang Peng) The four-day event has attracted over 1,100 domestic and international guests, featuring 14 activities such as a winery and wine exhibition, an innovation competition, and an art biennial. Making its China debut in 2018 in Beijing, the CMB has this year brought together nearly 400 international judges and over 7,000 wine samples, including a record number of entries from China, according to CMB Chairman Baudouin Havaux. 'This event opens a new era for the global visibility of the Chinese wine industry,' Havaux said. He added that it is no coincidence the 32nd edition of the CMB is being held in Yinchuan, as it clearly reflects the growing strength of Chinese wine, especially that of Ningxia. After four decades of development, Ningxia has become China's largest wine-producing region. The eastern foot of Helan Mountain is widely regarded as a 'golden zone' for grape growing and high-end wine production. By the end of 2024, Ningxia had more than 600,000 mu (around 40,000 hectares) of wine grape plantations and an annual wine output of 140 million bottles. Its wines are exported to over 40 countries and regions. Milton downtown small businesses seek financial support
Milton's downtown core is home to a vibrant business community, with more than 185 businesses operating in the area — approximately 82 per cent of them classified as small businesses, according to the Town of Milton. The Downtown Milton Business Improvement Area (DMBIA) represents more than 220 business operators and property owners, reflecting the area's dynamic and evolving commercial landscape. However, since the COVID-19 pandemic, many local shops have struggled to recover financially. While public spending habits have shifted back to in-person shopping, many residents continue to favour national chains over local downtown businesses — limiting economic recovery for the small business community. Avery Teal, social media co-ordinator at the Milton Chamber of Commerce, said the Chamber has been working to promote local businesses through various media platforms. 'We've been helping small businesses increase their visibility through platforms like Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn,' Teal said. 'The goal is to bring more attention to the businesses that make Milton unique.' As part of the Chamber's outreach, Dan Rogers, owner of RX Recourse — a corporate fitness and wellness service based downtown — partnered with the Chamber to produce a promotional video. The video, posted to LinkedIn, featured Rogers explaining his services, including 'Team Building 101.' 'The Milton Chamber of Commerce was kind enough to help me build a commercial to briefly explain what I do,' Rogers said in a post. The video served as a tool to boost visibility for RX Recourse within the local community. In addition to the Chamber's efforts, the Milton BIA partnered with Digital Main Street Ontario to launch a Digital Service Squad (DSS). The initiative offered one-on-one support for small businesses looking to improve their digital presence, including website creation and marketing strategy development. Mira Nasser, events manager at the BIA, said the program offered grants of up to $2,500 for digital upgrades. In total, $80,000 in funding was distributed to support 32 businesses in Milton. Error!
