
Vertiv names Mike Giresi as global CIO to drive AI strategy
The company stated that Giresi would formally take up the CIO role in late June 2025, spearheading initiatives to support Vertiv's digital strategy and enhance execution, customer experience, and operational leverage.
Digital strategy and leadership
Giordano (Gio) Albertazzi, Vertiv's Chief Executive Officer, highlighted the centrality of digital and IT expertise to the company's strategic direction, particularly in responding to ongoing evolution within the broader industry.
"Strong digital and IT vision and execution are central to our strategy to continue to lead the industry and constantly augment the value we are delivering to our customers. Mike deeply understands the opportunities of a rapidly evolving AI, digital and IT space and has the experience, the executional focus and expertise to reinforce our competitive advantages," Albertazzi said.
The appointment is intended to bolster Vertiv's approach to digital transformation, placing renewed emphasis on AI adoption not just within existing services but as a foundational element for future growth areas, including digitised customer experiences and enhanced operational processes.
Giresi's experience
Giresi joins Vertiv from consumer electronics firm Molex, where he served as Chief Digital Officer. Over a career spanning more than three decades, Giresi has held a succession of senior IT and technology leadership positions, including Chief Digital & Technology Officer at Aramark, Chief Information Officer for Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd., CIO of fashion brand Tory Burch, CIO of Direct Brands, and CIO, SVP IT for Godiva Chocolatier.
His professional background delivers both breadth and depth in digital transformation and enterprise IT management. Giresi holds an Executive MBA from Saint Joseph's University – Erivan K. Haub School of Business and a BA in English and Information Systems from Seton Hall University.

Under Giresi's remit, Vertiv aims to develop its AI ambitions further while supporting compliance and readiness in cybersecurity and product security across its global business.
Scope of the new role
In taking up the post, Giresi is expected to lead digital initiatives that will affect all facets of Vertiv's organisation, from internal productivity to the delivery of customer-facing services and platforms. Vertiv flags AI adoption as a strategic area where Giresi's expertise will be particularly leveraged, given his record in digital change management and IT execution.
The focus on digital productivity and cybersecurity is also linked to Vertiv's operations in supporting data centres, communication networks, and industrial facilities. The priorities include ensuring robust protections for customer and product data, as well as maintaining continuous optimisation of critical digital infrastructure.

Responses are also multilingual, with the ability to reply in either English or the original language of the review, to accommodate diverse customer demographics across the APAC region. Users of the platform can opt for complete automation or manually review AI-generated suggestions within the system before publication, depending on strategic preferences or operational policies. According to InMoment, its current market analysis indicates that no competing providers in the region offer full AI-powered auto responding specifically tailored for reviews management. The company states that while other providers may offer tools to assist with manual responses or basic automation using templates, their solution uniquely enables fully automated, controlled replies generated by AI under brand guidelines. Strategic direction The company has described this release as a significant change in how enterprise brands can approach reputation management, highlighting alignment with a broader vision of "Service as Software." In this model, AI tools perform operational work directly, aiming to allow customer experience teams to dedicate more attention to strategic activities. Clearing out the confusion over NCEA changes
It is billed as the most significant overhaul of NCEA in more than two decades, but there are questions being raised in the education industry about whether it is a bold step forward or a risky roll of the dice. The Government's sweeping changes to the national qualification aim to lift standards, streamline the way students are assessed, and restore confidence. RNZ's education reporter John Gerritsen tells The Detail the bold move comes with both hope and hesitation. 'There is a sort of sense that maybe this new system is trying to apply a way of working that might suit the kids in the leafy suburbs and not so much the kids in the poorer areas,' he says. The changes should be in place by 2030. If you never understood NCEA, or you are unsure of what the changes involve, this is the podcast to listen to as Gerritsen takes us through what's going on. NCEA Level 1, which typically takes place in Year 11, will be abolished, with students being required to take English and mathematics and to sit a new 'Foundational Skills Award' test that documents achievement in literacy and numeracy. Two new qualifications will replace NCEA Level 2 and Level 3, for Year 12 and 13 students, respectively. They will now qualify with the New Zealand Certificate of Education (NZCE) and the New Zealand Advanced Certificate of Education (NZACE), respectively. Students will be required to take five subjects, and will have to pass at least four, to attain each certificate in Years 12 and 13. A to E pass-fail grades will replace the 'excellent, merit, achieved, and not achieved' rankings. Supporters of the changes say this is exactly what NCEA needs. Employers have long voiced concerns that school leavers do not always have the basic skills needed for the workforce. With literacy and numeracy now the focus, that gap could start to close. And by reducing assessment overload, that means less pressure on students and more time for actual learning. Some parents also claim it should be easier for them to understand what their child is learning – and why. 'On one level, you'd have to say, a qualification system that has been in place since 2002, so over 20 years, and still confuses people probably needs to be revised pretty heavily,' says John Gerritsen. 'Some of the way the language, the way this has been described – it's been a bit obtuse, and people have struggled to understand it over the years.' But for every person applauding the changes, another is sounding the alarm. Some principals and parents worry that standalone literacy and numeracy tests risk leaving behind students with learning differences or who are from non-English-speaking backgrounds. 'There is a whole swathe of young people who struggle with exams,' Gerritson tells The Detail. 'Some of them may have dyslexia, others may just simply have anxiety about doing exams. 'There are also issues around increasing shifts to computer-based exams for students who don't have much to do with computers, so this is definitely going to become an issue.' And then there is the equity question. Will all schools – urban, rural, well-resourced, or underfunded – be ready to deliver under this new scheme? Or will the gaps further widen? 'When talking to principals from poorer communities, they're really worried that a system that has helped their communities achieve success is going to be got rid of and replaced with something with big question marks around it,' John says. 'There are worries that young people from poorer backgrounds are going to be disadvantaged by this, and they will be less likely to leave school with some sort of qualification.' Vertiv launches scalable OneCore solution for high-density data centres
Vertiv has announced the global availability of Vertiv OneCore, a scalable prefabricated infrastructure solution designed to simplify and accelerate the deployment of high-density data centres for artificial intelligence (AI), high-performance computing (HPC), and large-scale data environments. According to the company, Vertiv OneCore integrates its power, thermal, and IT infrastructure technologies into a single, factory-assembled system. The solution is now available for enterprise, colocation, sovereign, and neocloud data centre deployments worldwide. Integrated infrastructure The OneCore proposition centres around providing a unified approach that takes a project from design through to installation and operation with a single point of contact. The system uses prefabricated building blocks, including whitespace fit-outs such as Vertiv SmartRun, and is housed within a Vertiv-provided steel shell. This approach is intended to reduce on-site labour, minimise logistics complexity, and deliver consistency in quality, cost, and schedule outcomes. It also incorporates Vertiv Unify for integrated system visibility and centralised management. Vertiv OneCore is designed to address the growing need for speed and scalability in data centre construction, particularly for sites requiring high-density configurations. Viktor Petik, Senior Vice President of Infrastructure Solutions at Vertiv, commented: "Vertiv OneCore is our answer to the need for reducing complexity and enabling speed in building data centre capacity at scale. We know the challenge isn't just designing for today's needs but building an adaptable foundation for the future. This solution reduces project complexity by standardising key components while preserving the flexibility to scale and evolve, expand easily, and integrate new technologies as business and IT requirements evolve." Scalable and flexible The system supports power capacities ranging from 5 to 50 MW in a single block, with configuration options for 96 to 944 racks to accommodate both low and extreme rack densities. Vertiv claims that the design is free from rigid size limitations, allowing for customisable configurations to optimise usable space and improve airflow within the data centre environment. The modular nature of the electrical and mechanical subsystems enables parallel manufacturing, which can compress overall project timelines and potentially reduce costs. This flexibility also allows for supporting data centres with mixed workload profiles or high rack densities, which are becoming more prevalent as the adoption of AI and HPC workloads rises. These include: Scalable power capacity from 5 to 50 MW in a single block Flexible support for rack counts from 96 to 944 Integrated power and cooling with options for liquid cooling, advanced heat rejection, and scalable power management including uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems Electrical and thermal subsystems designed for maintainability and resilience, enabling ongoing operations during upgrades Operation in ambient temperatures from -20°C to 55°C to accommodate varying global climates Redundant primary and secondary fluid networks, as well as distributed electrical redundancy options Compatibility with 11–35 kV medium voltage and 400V–480V 3-phase AC power Comprehensive services for commissioning, maintenance programmes, and rapid operational support Vertiv notes that its OneCore system integrates its full range of power, thermal, and infrastructure management solutions, including Trinergy UPS systems, switchgear, busways, CoolChip CDU and perimeter cooling, CoolLoop Trim Cooler, as well as the Unify management system. The company also states that the system can contribute to customers' sustainability efforts by increasing efficiency, reducing power requirements, and allowing for adaptation to future technology standards due to its flexible design.
