Ex-mother-in-law of Hong Kong's Abby Choi accused of abusing granddaughter
Abby Choi Tin-fung has accused a former in-law of abusing her granddaughter, while insisting the woman would not have agreed to look after two of the model's children without being paid.

Cheung Yin-fa continued to testify at District Court on Tuesday as part of the trial of Choi's former mother-in-law, Jenny Li Sui-heung, for allegedly hindering a police investigation after the influencer went missing in February 2023.
Li has denied a count of perverting the course of justice.
Prosecutors have accused Li of urging her younger son, Alex Kwong Kong-chi, to abscond, knowing he was wanted by police for
a 2015 theft case involving HK$6.3 million (US$803,200) in gold and jewellery.
The 65-year-old defendant also allegedly misled police and asked Cheung to remain silent if she was approached by detectives.

Cheung, who was testifying for the prosecution, said during cross-examination that her late daughter had spent up to HK$400,000 a month on supporting her two children with Kwong, whereas he and his family never made any financial contributions towards their welfare.

The concept was first floated in January by then-economy minister Rafizi Ramli, in the context of developing local semiconductor chips and graphics processing units. It signals a shift from Malaysia's traditional role as a chip assembler towards designing and producing high-value, locally developed products as it aims to become a key player across the full spectrum of the global semiconductor sector. Anwar said that while Malaysia was proud of its position as the world's sixth-largest exporter of semiconductors, amounting to over 600 billion ringgit (US$141 billion) in 2024, it must now move further up the value chain.

Macau national security police arrest former lawmaker for alleged foreign collusion
Macau national security police have arrested a man – reportedly a prominent opposition figure and former lawmaker – for alleged collusion with foreign forces, in what is believed to be the first case of its kind in the gambling hub. The Macau Judiciary Police on Thursday said it had arrested a 68-year-old resident, surnamed Au, the day before for acts that allegedly helped foreign organisations to disseminate false information about the city and arouse hatred among residents towards the government. Local media have reported that the resident is Au Kam-san, a prominent opposition figure and former lawmaker, who for decades advocated for democratic reforms in Macau. 'The investigation revealed strong indications that the suspect … had long colluded with hostile forces outside the country,' the statement said. The statement added that the suspect had also allegedly engaged in acts that incited hatred towards the central government, encouraged 'anti-China forces' to take hostile actions against China and Macau, and disrupted last year's chief executive elections. The force said Au was facing charges under the city's national security law for 'establishing links with organisations, groups, or individuals outside the Macau Special Administrative Region to engage in acts endangering national security'.
