Celebrity psychic John Edward reveals how abortion confession led to him NEVER doing readings live on air

Daily Mail20 hours ago

Celebrity psychic John Edward is in Australia for a series of his famous live medium events in the coming weeks.
But the American mystic left the stars of The Project less than impressed when he refused to do a reading live on air on Sunday night.
The 55-year-old was asked by host Sam Taunton, 'are you feeling anything from anyone at the desk right now?'
'Not at the moment, not at the moment' Edwards admitted, to which co-host Waleed Aly replied, 'Well I could have done that!'
The mockery sparked laughter from the show's panel of hosts, leaving a red-faced Edward to explain why he won't do readings live on television.

'I tell you why. If I read for a host of a show and I get something private, this is not taped, it's live, and it's not something that someone wants to discuss publicly, you're going to say no' he said.
'I've had a bad experience. On radio, many, many years ago. I was reading for a Christian conservative host of a radio show.
'He said, "I have legacy in the marketplace, my audience knows everything about me". I said, "okay."
'He was being very difficult. In the commercial break, I said, does your audience know you decided not to to have a fifth child and terminate the pregnancy?
'He was like, "no". I asked him, "If I would have said that on the air, what would you have said? [he replied] "I would have had to lie because my mother-in-law listens to the show."'
John recently has issued a strong message to his non-believers.
Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, the medium said he has no qualms about people questioning his abilities - as they have done for decades - but only if they are willing to open their mind.
'I think we're living at a time on the planet where people's critical thinking skills need to be really sharpened and addressed because of whatever the latest AI thing that's happening or just social media – so I think it's really important for people to go, "hey, wait, I'm not sure, let me see what kind of validation is there"' he said.
'So I welcome it [scepticism] – it's important – as long as we can have a conversation about it.
'But when somebody pushes a little bit too much more, then I have to push back, and I have to be like 'woah – you can't define me, you don't know me'.
The New York native also said that he can't wait to return to Australia, as he has always loved the country's 'energy'.
He praised the nation's strong sense of community and said Australians always make him feel welcome when he visits.
Edward rose to fame in 2001 with his controversial Crossing Over program, in which he claimed to speak to the deceased relatives of audience members.
His supposed psychic abilities have been dismissed by many, with critics claiming the reality star is merely practicing a form of cold reading.
He has been married to Sandra McGee since 1995 and the couple share two children: son Justin and daughter Olivia.
Back in 2017, Edward told news.com.au that he never set out to be a celebrity and that it simply happened as a result of his psychic abilities.
'I never woke up and decided, 'I'm going to be a world famous medium',' John said.

Surprising Aussie footy venue beats the MCG to be ranked in the top 10 stadiums in the world

Melbourne's Marvel Stadium has pipped the MCG to be recognised as one of the top-10 stadiums in the world. According to the 2025 Pollstar Mid-Year Top 50 Worldwide Stadium Rankings, the Docklands Stadium sits fifth in the world as one of the highest-grossing stadiums. The 53,343-capacity venue also ranks seventh for the highest number of stadium ticket sales as part of the rankings, surpassing the MCG, SCG, Adelaide Oval and the Suncorp Stadium. The rankings are measured between November 14, 2024, and May 14, 2025, with the venue now rubbing shoulders with some illustrious venues around the world, including California 's SoFi Stadium and Japan's Tokyo Dome, which both ranked inside the top-10. While this is the first time Marvel has been recognised inside Pollstar's top-10 venues. The acknowledgement also comes 12 months after the stadium broke into the 2024 Billboard Boxscore rankings after it was ranked the top venue in the world for its top-grossing concert revenue figures during October. Despite boasting a much bigger capcity, Marvel topped the MCG for ticket sales to be ranked as the fifth highest-grossing stadium in the world Marvel was first opened in 2000 and is currently owned by the AFL. It cost approximately $460million to build and last year underwent a $225m upgrade, which was funded by the Victorian Government. The refurbishment works included the addition of two new video screens situated under the stadium's roof as well as amendments to the stadium's infrastructure, to enhance fan experience. Over the past year, many fans have flocked to the venue to watch both cricket and footy, but the venue has also hosted some massive concerts. Luke Combs recently sold out the venue with two shows in February, with 111,200 fans attending the concert. A month later, US rock band Green Day took to the stage at Marvel for a gig in March, with 60,000 fans in attendance. Coldplay hosted four gigs at Marvel back in November, while the Weeknd and PINK all played last summer and plenty more big events are coming to the stadium to celebrate its 25th anniversary. In October and November, Oasis will play three concerts at the venue as part of their reunion tour, while Metallica and Lady Gaga are also due to play at the venue before the year is out. 'Marvel Stadium is incredibly proud to have been recognised in Pollstar's Mid-Year Top 50 Stadiums worldwide,' AFL general manager of Marvel Stadium Scott Fitzgerald said. 'To be named among the best stadiums on the global stage is a true testament to the investment and innovation that has gone into evolving Marvel Stadium into a world-class, 365-day multi-purpose venue that is delivering unforgettable experiences for fans, artists, and athletes alike.' 'Events like these would not be possible without the support of our world-class partners including Disney, Live Nation, Frontier, Ticketmaster and Delaware North who work tirelessly to attract the best in global entertainment and ensure our fans have amazing guest experiences at our venue. 'Melbourne is a city that lives and breathes sport and live entertainment, and we're proud that Marvel Stadium is continuing to shine on an international stage and creating experiences that rival the world's best.' Marvel sat fifth behind Mexo City's Estadio GNP Seguros, the SoFi Stadium in California, Allianz Parque in Brazil and the Autordromo Hermanos Rodrigues in Mexico for gross sales. It also comes as Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's Wrexham are now set to travel Down Under for a pre-season tour and are due to play at Marvel on June 11.

Bachelor star Jay Lal announces she's expecting her first child with mystery man - after failing to win Jimmy Nicholson's heart on the dating series

Bachelor Australia star Jay Lal has announced she is expecting her first child. The reality TV favourite, who rose to fame on Jimmy Nicholson's season of The Bachelor in 2021, revealed the exciting news via Instagram on Monday, sharing a heartwarming photo from a recent ultrasound appointment. In the image, a glowing Jay, 36, is seen lying on an examination bed with her T-shirt rolled up, proudly displaying her baby bump as an ultrasound of her unborn child appears on the screen beside her. 'Making my little bestie Baby T coming this Spring,' she captioned the post, hinting she is waiting to find out the baby's gender. The announcement was quickly flooded with congratulatory messages from friends and fans, including fellow MAFS alum Jackson Lonie who commented, 'Omg congrats guys.' Meanwhile, fellow Bachelor star Ash Lee who added, 'Yewwww here we go! Ballerina or break dancer ha.' Jay's cousin Madeleine Sami also chimed in, writing, 'Congratz cuzn!!! Love ya!' Despite not winning Jimmy's heart in the end, she quickly gained a loyal social media following and has continued to grow her career in health and wellness. Jay has kept the identity of the child's father a mystery. This will be Jay's first child. Jay previously confessed she had an 'inkling' that her end on the reality series was coming, before revealing there was a very emotional farewell between her and Jimmy that did not air. 'Leading up to that day, I kind of had an inkling I was leaving,' she said in an interview with Pedestrian. 'Because on the single date he was still questioning my integrity, so I was like, "This isn't a good sign"'. 'So, I think I prepared myself to leave that night and I thought I'd be fine,' she added. Jay then divulged how, after not receiving a rose, the night ended with Jimmy walking her to the limo and crying. 'As he walked me to the limo and he said goodbye, he just started crying. And then I just started bawling my eyes out and we just hugged each other for so long,' she explained. It was a major disappointment for Jay, as the emotional scene between the pair was cut from the show. She added with frustration that the Channel 10 producers 'couldn't even give me that!' Jay said her appearance on the series was deeply affected by rumours that she was using the reality show to become famous and the gossip surrounding her relationship with singer Moses Mackay from the New Zealand version of The Bachelor. She said her relationship with Moses was 'irrelevant' and has vehemently denied the speculation. 'I just wouldn't put myself through that situation for 1000 followers or a blue tick on Instagram. It is not worth it,' she told The Daily Telegraph. 'I went on that show hoping to find love and unfortunately I didn't find love but I did have a great experience and I don't regret it,' she added. Sydney marketing manager Holly Kingston ended up winning Jimmy's heart. The couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Maverick on May 3, 2024.

Sarah Roberts finds love again following heartbreaking divorce from James Stewart as she is spotted holding hands with new man in Sydney

Former Home and Away star Sarah Roberts has officially moved on from her split with ex-husband James Stewart - and she's looking happier than ever. The actress, 39, was spotted hand-in-hand with her new boyfriend while out and about in Sydney on Mother's Day, marking the first time she's been seen publicly with a partner since her 2023 divorce from Stewart. Sarah looked effortlessly chic in a fitted grey long-sleeved top and white pants. The brunette beauty showed off her natural beauty, and appeared to be wearing little makeup for the outing. Meanwhile her new flame – Sydney-based cinematographer Jake Iesu – kept things casual in a black T-shirt that read 'We are stronger together', navy shorts and a beige cap. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The pair appeared smitten as they strolled the streets, grabbed food, and packed on the PDA while window shopping - a far cry from the heartache Roberts opened up about last year. It's a new chapter for the actor and DJ, who admitted in a raw interview with Stellar magazine that her marriage breakdown had left her emotionally shattered. 'I've been really afraid of talking about this because of what I've felt to be the stigma and shame around it. But I just want to say that I am divorced,' she said in April 2024. Roberts and Stewart met on the Home and Away set in 2017, quickly falling in love before tying the knot in a fairy-tale wedding in Ireland in 2019. But behind closed doors, cracks had already started to appear. 'I'll never speak on anyone else's behalf, but my belief in marriage is that two people grow and learn from each other together,' she said. 'Sometimes people just grow apart, and that's OK.' He kept things casual in a black T-shirt that read 'We are stronger together' While Stewart has since moved on with his Home and Away co-star Ada Nicodemou – a pairing that stunned fans when it was revealed - Roberts is now carving out a path of her own. According to New Idea, Jake works as a Steadicam operator and 'occasional pilot', and recently showcased his artwork at an exhibition titled A Piece of Art in Crows Nest. Although the couple has yet to post any photos together, sources say they've quietly been attending events around Sydney - including the Sydney Film Festival - and are slowly going public with their blossoming relationship. Speaking about her new romance, Roberts recently said: 'I feel grateful that I found him, because he's allowed me to grow in beautiful and unexpected ways. 'But if I didn't have that, I would still be OK. Because I finally found myself, as clichéd as that may sound.' Roberts added that she's no longer afraid to speak her truth. 'I have beaten myself up for a long time over the fact that I stayed in something that wasn't healthy,' she said. 'But I've finally found a love for myself that I didn't have – and that's the most important relationship of all.' They grabbed food, and packed on the PDA while window shopping It's a new chapter for the actor and DJ, who admitted in a raw interview with Stellar magazine that her marriage breakdown had left her emotionally shattered 'I've been really afraid of talking about this because of what I've felt to be the stigma and shame around it. But I just want to say that I am divorced,' she said in April 2024 Sarah rose to fame playing the character of Willow on Home and Away from 2017 to 2021 and recently revealed she still keeps close with her former soap co-stars - and why Hollywood is her next stop. 'One of my best friends was one of my cast mates on Neighbours. That goes way back. Another one of my best friends, Emily Weir, she's from Home and Away,' Sarah told Daily Mail Australia in February. 'I've also made friends with a lot of the new cast from Home and Away because Emily is friends with them and we all hang out together. 'I just had my 40th birthday party at the end of last year and I had a party on a boat on the Sydney Harbour. 'It was full of a lot of the Home and Away cast. I get really close to people and really value my friendships.' She is currently reprising her role as reporter Beth Ramachandran on the Stan Original series Scrublands. Sarah went on to say a large part of the reason she is still so close with her former castmates, despite having left soap shows behind four years ago, is because of how vulnerable the stars become with each other during filming. 'You share so many deep dark secrets about yourself and you have to develop a lot of trust between each other. That lends itself to strong friendships,' she said. Sarah also did two stints on Neighbours, making her debut in 2010 and later appearing as the character Sienna in 2014. As for what's next for the TV star, Sarah said she has her sights set on the next big HBO hit in Hollywood, adding she wants something she 'can sink her teeth into'. 'My next dream it would be to book a television show where I'm in a contract for five years. I would like that to be a character I can sink my teeth into. I'm not sure I'd want to do another soap,' she said. 'I would have loved to have done something like Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones. That would be a dream job for me.'
