Kaun Banega Crorepati 17: 21-Year Old Contestant Fails To Answer This Rs 1 Crore Question. Can You?

New Delhi: Kaun Banega Crorepati returned for its 17th season on August 11. The quiz-based reality show marks the return of quiz master, film veteran Amitabh Bachchan. In the third episode, it was 21-year-old contestant Kashish Singhal who grabbed the hot seat. Kashish Singhal was the first participant who attempted a Rs 1 crore question but unfortunately she failed to answer that. The Rs 1 crore question asked by Big B was, "Which king of the Visigoths demanded pepper, which ancient Rome usually traded from India, as ransom to lift a siege on the city?". The options were – A) Ludovic, B) Aymeric, C) Alaric and D) Theodoric. Kashish Singal, who successfully passed all the previous rounds, got stuck in the question. With one lifeline left she used the 'Sanket Suchak' (Hint-Giver). However, the 21-year-old was unsure about the correct answer and decided to quit, taking home Rs 50 lakhs. The correct answer was Option C – Alaric. For context, king of the Visigoths, Alaric I famously demanded a ransom during his siege of Rome in 408 CE. The items included gold, silver, silk, hides — and 3,000 pounds of pepper. Pepper, a luxury ingredient in ancient Rome, was mostly imported from India through long-distance trade routes, underscoring its value as a mark of wealth. During a conversation with the host Kahish Singhal expressed her love for Mathematics. The 21-year-old also revealed that she was preparing for defense courses ever since she passed her 12th class. She planned on paying a loan of Rs 15 lakhs with the money. Kaun Banega Crorepati is set to welcome three female members from the Indian Armed Forces for a special Independence Day episode. In the promo video, Amitabh Bachchan was seen welcoming Colonel Sofiya Qureshi of the Indian Army, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh of the Indian Air Force and Commander Prerna Deosthalee of the Indian Navy, who played a major role during the media briefings on Operation Sindoor. ‘Against Military Ethos': Huge row as KBC hosts Op Sindoor icons Sofiya, Vyomika & Prerna

New Delhi: The appearance of Indian Armed Forces officers on KBC has ignited controversy, with critics accusing the Union government of exploiting military for political gains. Amitabh Bachchan will host decorated officers from the Indian Armed Forces in the Independence Day special episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) season 17. In a promo shared by the channel, Amitabh Bachchan is seen welcoming Col Sofiya Qureshi (Indian Army), Wg Cmdr Vyomika Singh (Indian Air Force) and Commander Prerna Deosthalee (Indian Navy). The special episode will feature the officers recounting key moments from India's Operation Sindoor conducted against terror camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. While the officers likely sought clearance from the concerned department, their appearance has nonetheless triggered controversy, with many netizens dubbing it a 'PR stunt' and an attempt at 'political mileage.' Both Colonel Sofiya and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh held press briefings while the mission was ongoing. The makers recently released a teaser of the episode, set to air on August 15, showing KBC host Amitabh Bachchan giving the officers a grand welcome. 'This is just unbelievable. Operation Sindoor heroes appearing on national TV show KBC Just because one 'nationalist' party wants to milk some votes?' one user posted on X. "Have you ever seen anything like this after a military operation in any serious country? How is this even allowed for someone in service? The current regime is shamelessly using our forces for its petty politics and hyper-nationalism," another user said. 'Our Army was sacrosanct, above politics, beyond PR. Today, Modi govt parades serving soldiers on shows like KBC for image building. Even our Army has been made a political tool for Modi's PR. Our forces are to defend the nation, not a politician's brand,' a user posted on X. A user also questioned if armed forces protocol allows sending officers on reality shows like KBC. "The Indian Armed Forces have some protocol, some dignity and huge respect. Politicians are ruining it for their personal benefit. That's shameful," he said. Priyanka Chaturvedi of the Shiv Sena (UBT) also commented on the show. 'Our heroic women in Uniform who went on to become the face of Operation Sindoor have been invited by a private entertainment channel on their show. This private entertainment channel's parent company Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) has also bagged the broadcasting rights of the Asia Cup till 2031. Yes, the very channel that seeks to earn revenue through India vs Pakistan cricket matches. Now join the dots,' Priyanka Chaturvedi posted on X. The Central government or the Defence ministry didn't immediately comment on the social media criticism.

This 10 minute sequence of Sholay took over 20 days to film, transformed Mumbai into a battleground, it was… In the ever-evolving world of cinema, many films come and go, while some make noise for weeks, and others fade as quickly as they appear. But every once in a while comes a rare gem that is not just a film but a phenomenon. One such similar tale is of a film that was released 50 years ago but resonates even today. Initially, this film was a gamble for its makers; it did not capture the response it was expected to. However slowly, it grew on the audience and redefined Indian cinema. From an Almost Flop to a Massive Hit The film that we are talking about is none other than Sholay. Released on 15 August 1975, this blockbuster was once almost considered a flop; even the audience raised eyebrows at the climax, where Amitabh Bachchan's character Jai meets a tragic end. However, what happened later was something that nobody predicted. It became the crown jewel of Indian cinema. The Legendary Train Sequence This action-packed film with a gripping storyline had everyone glued, but amongst the many scenes, one scene that stands tall is the legendary train action sequence. While in the film, this scene just lasted for 10 minutes, it took over 20 days to shoot. For this particular scene, the Mumbai–Pune railway route near Panvel transformed into a battleground between lawmen and dacoits. In the scene, dacoits attack a moving train guarded by police officer Thakur Baldev Singh (Sanjeev Kumar). As his forces are overpowered, Thakur makes a bold decision: he unlocks the handcuffs of Jai (Amitabh Bachchan) and Veeru (Dharmendra), asking for their help in fighting back. Later, we witness magic like never before. There is tense action, stunts, and dialogue that still resonate with the audience today. In the film, an immortal scene happens where Thakur asks Veeru about how long he's been in the business, and he replies, 'Bas yu samajhiye Thakur sahab, ki hosh sambhalte hi apne pairon par khade ho gaye the.' And when asked why they do it, his blunt answer hits hard: 'Jis liye aap police ki naukri karte hain, wahi.' Even today, this dialogue creates an unmatched impact. This film, which was almost considered a flop, slowly turned out to be a massive hit, becoming a cultural phenomenon. From the Amitabh-Dharmendra pairing and Salim-Javed's sharp writing to Gabbar Singh's dialogues and Thakur's unshakable resolve, every frame of Sholay captured hearts. Fifty years later, that train sequence still touches a chord with the audience.
