"Heartfelt gratitude to PM Modi, Nitin Gadkari": Dy CM Diya Kumari on Rs 1,914 crore nod for 40 Rajasthan road projects
Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], June 16 (ANI): Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari on Monday expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari for approving Rs 1,914.71 crore for 40 state road projects under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF).
The projects, covering a total length of 1,000.90 kilometres, aim to enhance road connectivity and travel efficiency across the state. The formal sanction of the projects is expected within the next couple of days.
In addition to the CRIF funding, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has also sanctioned new highway projects worth approximately Rs 1394 crore for the construction of 104.49 kilometres of roadways. These include the development of a four-lane Nagaur Bypass (from Amarpura to Gogelav) and the four-lane Nagaur-Netra road section.
Deputy CM Diya Kumari said that the Rs 1914.71 crore CRIF allocation would primarily be used to strengthen and widen various segments of state roads -- including 31 major district roads, 8 state highways, and 1 other district road -- across multiple regions. She emphasized that the aim is to ensure smoother transportation and enhanced road safety for commuters in the state.
Taking to X, Diya Kumari said, 'Heartfelt gratitude to the illustrious Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji and the Honorable Union Highways Minister Shri @nitin_gadkari ji for approving 1914.71 crores for 40 state road projects of total length of 1000.90 km under Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) in Rajasthan.'

New Delhi:The BJP on Monday accused the Congress of always deceiving and betraying the Other Backward Classes following the Karnataka government's decision to junk an earlier caste survey in favour of a fresh count. Census in J&K, Ladakh, Himachal, U'Khand in 2026, rest in 2027
New Delhi: Sixteen years after the last census in 2011, the government on Monday issued a notification for conducting India's 16th census which will include caste enumeration in 2027. The census will be carried out with a reference date of October 1, 2026 in the snow-bound areas like Ladakh and March 1, 2027 in the rest of the country, the notification said. "The reference date for the said census shall be 00.00 hours of the 1st day of March, 2027, except for the Union territory of Ladakh and snow-bound non-synchronous areas of the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the States of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand," it said. In respect of Ladakh and snow-bound non-synchronous areas of the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir and the states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, the reference date shall be 00:00 hours of the first day of October, 2026, it said. The massive exercise, which is expected to cost the government over Rs 13,000 crore to give population-related data from across the country, will be conducted by about 34 lakh enumerators and supervisors and around 1.3 lakh census functionaries armed with digital devices. Union Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the preparation for the census with Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India Mritunjay Kumar Narayan, and other senior officials here on Sunday. In the upcoming census, caste enumeration will also be done, the first such exercise since Independence. The last comprehensive caste-based count was done by the Britishers between 1881 and 1931. Caste was excluded from all census operations conducted since Independence. The decision to include caste enumeration in the upcoming census was taken by the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 30. "Considering all these circumstances, and to ensure that our social fabric does not come under political pressure, it has been decided that caste enumeration should be included in the main census instead of being conducted as a separate survey," an official statement had said. In 2010, then prime minister Manmohan Singh had assured the Lok Sabha that the matter of caste census would be considered in the cabinet. A group of ministers was formed to deliberate on this subject and majority of the political parties recommended conducting a caste census. However, the previous Congress-led government opted for a survey instead of a caste census, known as the Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC).

PM conferred with Cyprus' highest civilian honour
Nicosia: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Monday conferred with the Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III of Cyprus, the country's highest civilian honour. "Humbled to receive the 'Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III' of Cyprus. I dedicate it to the friendship between our nations," the PM said after receiving the award. Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides conferred the award on the Prime Minister. The Order of Makarios III is the senior order of knighthood awarded by the country named after the first President of Cyprus, Archbishop Makarios III. Dedicating the award to the 1.4 billion people of India, Modi said it was an award to the trusted India-Cyprus friendship. 'I am confident that in the time to come, our active partnership will touch new heights. Together, we will not only strengthen the progress of our two nations but also contribute towards building a peaceful and secure world,' the Prime Minister said. Modi is in Cyprus on the first leg of his three-nation tour. From Cyprus, he will travel to Canada to attend the G7 summit, and then to Croatia.
