51°C Heat and Dust to Sweep Across Kuwait

Arab Times25-05-2025

KUWAIT CITY, May 25: The Meteorology Department forecasts hot and dusty weather for Sunday and Monday, with moderate to active northwesterly winds reaching up to 45 km/h, likely to cause dust storms in open areas and limited impact on residential zones.
Acting Director Dharar Al-Ali told KUNA that Kuwait is currently under the influence of the Indian monsoon low-pressure system, bringing with it an extremely hot air mass. Over the weekend, temperatures are expected to range between 45°C and 48°C across most land areas.
By Tuesday through Thursday, the heat is expected to intensify further as the air depression deepens, pushing maximum temperatures to soar between 48°C and 51°C, accompanied by light to moderate northwesterly winds.

Humidity cranks up Kuwait's Eid weekend heat

KUWAIT CITY, June 5: The Meteorological Department says the high-pressure system accompanied by a hot and dry air mass experienced in the country will recede, making way for the seasonal Indian low-pressure system during the weekend. This will bring a relatively hot and humid air mass, along with variable winds shifting to southeasterly at light to moderate speeds during the weekend. The acting Director of the Meteorological Department Dhirar Al-Ali told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that wind speeds will gradually decrease until Sunday, after which southeasterly winds are expected to become active again starting Monday morning. These winds may stir up dust and cause an increase in sea waves. He explained that on Friday, the weather is expected to be hot during the day, with northwesterly to variable winds, light to moderate in speed, ranging from 8 to 32 km/h. The high temperatures are expected to be between 41 and 43°C, and sea conditions will be light to moderate, with waves ranging from one to four feet. The weather on Friday evening will be hot to warm, with northwesterly to variable winds at light to moderate speeds ranging from 8 to 30 km/h. The low temperatures are expected to be between 26 and 28°C, and sea conditions will be light to moderate, with wave heights between one and three feet. On Saturday, the weather will be hot and relatively humid in coastal areas during the day, with winds shifting from northwesterly to southeasterly at light to moderate speeds of 8 to 32 km/h. The expected high temperatures will range between 42 and 44°C, and sea conditions will be light to moderate, with waves from one to four feet. The weather on Saturday evening will be hot to warm and relatively humid, especially in coastal areas, with southeasterly to variable winds at light to moderate speeds of 8 to 30 km/h. The expected low temperatures will be between 24 and 26°C, and sea conditions will be light to moderate, with waves between one and three feet. (KUNA)

High temperatures, dusty winds expected across Kuwait through the weekend

KUWAIT CITY, June 5: Kuwait is expected to experience hot and dusty conditions through the weekend due to shifting pressure systems and varying wind patterns, the Kuwait Meteorological Department (KMD) announced on Thursday. According to KMD Director Dharar Al-Ali, a weak high-pressure system currently affecting the country is accompanied by a hot and dry air mass, along with light to moderate northwesterly winds. These winds, which may become active at times, are expected to stir dust in exposed and open areas. Al-Ali told KUNA that the high-pressure system would gradually weaken by Thursday evening, paving the way for the advance of the Indian monsoon low-pressure system. This change will bring a hot and relatively humid air mass with southeasterly winds over the weekend. Weekend weather outlook Al-Ali noted that wind speeds are expected to decrease gradually from Thursday evening through Sunday. However, southeasterly winds are forecast to regain strength starting Monday, potentially leading to dust storms and high sea waves. For Thursday, daytime conditions are expected to remain hot with northwesterly winds ranging from 10 to 50 km/h. Dust is likely in open areas, and maximum temperatures are forecast between 38 and 40°C. The sea will be light to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 2 to 5 feet. By evening, temperatures will tend to be warm, with northwesterly to variable winds between 8 and 35 km/h. Minimum temperatures are expected to range between 24 and 26°C, with sea waves between 1 and 4 feet. Friday and Saturday forecast On Friday, daytime conditions will remain hot with light to moderate northwesterly to variable winds between 8 and 32 km/h. Temperatures will rise further, with highs expected between 41 and 43°C. The sea state remains light to moderate, with waves ranging from 1 to 4 feet. Friday night will continue to be warm to hot, with winds shifting slightly and staying light to moderate at 8 to 30 km/h. The minimum temperature is forecast between 26 and 28°C, with waves between 1 and 3 feet. Saturday will bring more intense heat and increased humidity, particularly in coastal areas. Winds will shift from northwesterly to southeasterly at 8 to 32 km/h. The maximum temperature is expected to reach between 42 and 44°C, and the sea will remain light to moderate, with wave heights of 1 to 4 feet. By Saturday night, conditions will remain hot and relatively humid, especially near the coast. Southeasterly to variable winds will blow at 8 to 30 km/h. Minimum temperatures will range between 24 and 26°C, and sea waves will stay between 1 and 3 feet. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions, especially in open areas where dust may reduce visibility, and to stay hydrated amid the rising temperatures and humidity levels expected in the coming days.

Strong winds and dust storms continue across Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, June 4: Acting Director of the Meteorology Department, Dharar Al-Ali, confirmed Wednesday that Kuwait will continue to experience strong northwesterly winds, with speeds sometimes exceeding 50 kilometers per hour. These winds are expected to raise dust and reduce horizontal visibility, particularly in exposed areas. In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Al-Ali said weather charts and numerical models show that the country has been under the influence of strong winds since the morning. These winds are not only causing dust storms but also raising sea waves to heights of over six feet. He attributed the ongoing weather conditions to an extension of a surface low-pressure system accompanied by a hot and dry air mass. A relative decrease in wind speeds is expected by Thursday afternoon, he added. Al-Ali noted that the general weather will remain hot during the day and warm to hot at night, with dust expected to gradually settle overnight. Daytime temperatures are forecast to range between 40 and 43 degrees Celsius, while nighttime lows are expected to range from 27 to 30 degrees Celsius. He urged citizens and residents, especially those with asthma or allergies, to wear protective masks. He also advised beachgoers to take precautions due to high waves, and motorists to remain cautious of sudden drops in visibility and potential sand accumulation on highways.
