Razer's wirelessly charging mouse pad now supports more mice
Razer has announced a new version of its HyperFlux mouse pad, which first launched in 2018. The new HyperFlux V2 carries forward the same wireless charging functionality as the original, but instead of only being compatible with a single specific mouse, it works with several models in Razer's current lineup, charging their batteries continuously using an included adapter.
The HyperFlux V2 Wireless Charging System comes in two versions for $119.99. One with a hard surface that's available now, and one with a softer cloth surface, which is expected to launch later this year. The original Razer HyperFlux was sold as part of a $249.99 bundle that included the Mamba HyperFlux mouse. The V2 model doesn't come with a mouse, but is compatible with the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro 35K, Basilisk V3 Pro, Cobra Pro, and Naga V2 Pro mice, which range in price from $129.99 to $179.99.
The Mamba HyperFlux mouse that worked with the original version of the HyperFlux pad featured a super capacitor inside that retained power for about 5 to 10 seconds when it was lifted off the pad. That was enough time to allow you to reposition the mouse without it dying, but to use it anywhere else required a USB cable.
The new HyperFlux V2 instead uses a puck inserted into the bottom of the supported mouse models that charges their batteries wirelessly while they're on the pad. An LED indicator at the top of the pad indicates the battery's charge level by changing colors.
Like the original version, the new HyperFlux V2 mouse pad also serves as a receiver, allowing Razer's mice and keyboards to wirelessly connect to a PC (through the pad, which connects to a computer over USB) using its proprietary HyperSpeed technology that's faster and more reliable than Bluetooth. The mouse pad is also compatible with Razer's wireless keyboards, including the BlackWidow V3 Pro and DeathStalker V2 Pro, but it can't charge them wirelessly.
The functionality of the HyperFlux V2 Wireless Charging System appears similar to Logitech's patented Powerplay Wireless Charging System. The Verge has reached out to Logitech for comment and to Razer to clarify if its new wirelessly charging mouse pad is using a different approach than the Powerplay system. We will update this story if they respond.

Power, precision, and portability: Meet the new Razer Blade lineup
The Razer Blade series has long been synonymous with premium gaming laptops that combine sharp aesthetics with cutting-edge performance. With the 2025 lineup, Razer raises the stakes again, delivering a trio of machines that refine and redefine what portable PC power looks like. The latest Blade 14, Blade 16, and Blade 18 aren't just generational upgrades — they are purpose-built machines for gamers, creators, and professionals who demand excellence in every frame. A unified vision: Premium design and engineering Across all three models, the DNA remains consistent. Each laptop is milled from a single block of aluminum using CNC machining and finished with a scratch-resistant matte anodization. It's a signature look that blends understated sophistication with gamer swagger. But beneath that sleek shell lies a brutal focus on performance-per-cubic-inch. Razer's engineering emphasis on maximizing Total Graphics Power (TGP) while minimizing size and thermal impact makes every Blade laptop a marvel of design. Thanks to a custom cooling system featuring vapor chamber cooling, advanced heat exchangers, and finely tuned fan curves, even the highest-end GPUs like the RTX 5090 can stretch their legs without cooking the chassis. It's all part of Razer's no-compromises approach to thermal efficiency and sustained performance. Blade 14: Small frame, serious game The new Blade 14 is a traveler's dream with a performance punch. At just 3.59 pounds and measuring as thin as 0.62 inches, it might be the lightest gaming laptop you'd actually want to game on. It houses AMD's powerful new Ryzen AI 9 365 processor and pairs it with up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 GPU. That combo not only enables respectable gaming performance at high settings, but also benefits from improved battery efficiency and AI-driven enhancements. The 14-inch OLED display, with a 2880 x 1800 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, is vivid and sharp, ideal for both gamers and content creators. And with up to 64GB of RAM and 2TB of storage, it's as future-proof as a laptop can get. The 72Whr battery aims to deliver over eight hours of real-world usage. That's not something most gaming laptops can claim, especially those with this level of power. Whether you're editing on the go, grinding through a dungeon, or hopping on a Zoom call, the Blade 14 is ready. Blade 16: Balanced brilliance For those seeking a sweet spot between mobility and maximum performance, the Blade 16 is the new gold standard. Significantly slimmed down from its predecessor, it now mirrors the dimensions of the beloved Blade 15 while packing in the latest hardware from AMD and Nvidia. You can spec the Blade 16 with up to an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor and an RTX 5090 GPU: A mobile powerhouse with 24GB of GDDR7 memory and all the perks of Nvidia's Blackwell architecture. Paired with 64GB of ultra-fast LPDDR5X RAM and a 4TB SSD (with expandable storage), this laptop feels more like a desktop replacement than a portable PC. A standout feature is the 16-inch 240Hz OLED display, praised for its color richness, deep contrast, and accuracy. Whether you're gaming or color-grading a project, this panel doesn't miss. On the cooling front, Razer introduces what it calls a 'thermal hood' design. This clever engineering move thickens the chassis around the heat-generating components while slimming down elsewhere, resulting in a 30% reduction in volume compared to the last-gen Blade 16. With optimized performance profiles and smart power distribution, the Blade 16 delivers high frame rates without turning into a jet engine. Gaming on battery isn't just possible, it's actually enjoyable. Blade 18: Desktop-class power, laptop form Then there's the beast: the Razer Blade 18. Designed for creators, gamers, and professionals who want a true desktop replacement, this is the biggest and boldest Razer Blade yet. It's also one of the few laptops that can genuinely replace a high-end gaming rig. Built around Intel's Core Ultra 9 275HX and paired with GPUs up to the RTX 5090, the Blade 18 offers unmatched multitasking, AI processing, and visual rendering capabilities. The 18-inch 3840×2400 display supports up to 240Hz at native resolution, and even up to 440Hz when gaming at 1920×1200. It's immersive, fluid, and future-ready. Despite its large footprint, the Blade 18 maintains premium portability, thanks to smart port placement, a refined chassis, and intelligent thermal control. Add in up to 64GB of RAM, 4TB of storage, and Wi-Fi 7 plus Bluetooth 5.4, and you have a creative workstation and gaming hub in one. This model also features a newly designed keyboard with scissor switches, a 5MP webcam with Windows Hello support, and desktop-grade audio with THX Spatial Sound. It's all built into a system weighing just over seven pounds. Which Blade is right for you? Blade 14 : For mobile gamers, remote workers, and travelers who want powerful performance in the most compact chassis. Blade 16 : For users who want the best mix of power, portability, and display quality—an all-rounder that doesn't compromise. Blade 18 : For desktop-replacement seekers, creative professionals, and those who want everything Razer can offer in one machine. Every Razer Blade is built to push limits. The only question is: how far do you want to go? For more information or to explore configurations,

2 Recession-Proof Stocks to Buy and Hold
Even amid an uncertain economic environment, reliable companies can be found. Zoetis helps people care for pets, which many consider as honorary family members. HCA Healthcare offers services in high demand, regardless of economic conditions. 10 stocks we like better than Zoetis › President Trump's trade policies are sparking concerns about a potential recession. Though it's hard to predict an upcoming economic downturn, it's never a bad idea for investors to buy shares of companies that can perform relatively well even in bad times. These corporations often have robust underlying businesses built to deliver consistent results and superior returns over the long run. Here are two great examples for investors to consider: Zoetis (NYSE: ZTS) and HCA Healthcare (NYSE: HCA). Zoetis, a leading animal health company, has faced some challenges over the past year. The company's recent financial results weren't great, and it is dealing with increased competition for some of its growth drivers, including Apoquel, a medicine to treat allergic itch in dogs. However, as Zoetis points out, there is significant whitespace in this niche. It estimates that 13 million dogs are eligible for the medicine but aren't on any prescription, and another 7 million are undertreated. The company currently treats 12 million dogs with Apoquel and Cytopoint, a similar medicine. Although Zoetis markets products for livestock, poultry, and other animals, the company's work with pets, particularly cats and dogs, is one of the primary reasons it can survive a recession relatively unscathed. People view their pets as family members and are more than willing to pay a significant amount to ensure they are well cared for. The increased humanization of pets should also be a significant long-term growth driver for Zoetis, a trend that is particularly prevalent among younger generations, who are less likely to have children than older ones. It might be pushing it to say that pets are the new kids, but it's not too far from the truth for many pet owners. The rest of Zoetis' business grants it significant diversity. The animal health leader generally grows its revenue at rates faster than the industry average, something it has been able to do for a while, despite competition, through the continuous development of newer medicines. Two of its more recent important approvals, Solensia and Librela that treat osteoarthritis pain in cats and dogs, respectively, are becoming key growth drivers, too. So, despite being slightly in the red over the trailing-12-month period, Zoetis is well-equipped to handle a recession if one is coming, while delivering strong returns in the long run. Lastly, the stock is also an excellent pick for income seekers despite its unimpressive forward yield of 1.2%. Zoetis has increased its payouts by 502% in the past decade. Whether it's for dividends or growth, the healthcare specialist is a great option. HCA Healthcare's business remains in high demand even in recessions. The company is a leading hospital chain in the U.S., and even during economic downturns, people still require critical medical care. True, some procedures performed in the company's facilities are optional. Even for those that aren't, patients may sometimes postpone them when things get tough. So, there will be an impact on the company's results, but it should be fairly minimal. Over the past year, the company has faced another source of headwinds. Various natural disasters, including hurricanes, impacted its financial results in some areas, resulting in lower revenue than anticipated. Still, HCA Healthcare continues to deliver decent updates. In the first quarter, the company's revenue increased by a modest 5.7% year over year to $18.3 billion. Its earnings per share came in at $6.45, up 8.8% compared to the year-ago period. Despite this headwind, HCA Healthcare's long-term prospects are attractive. An aging population that will require more medical care should lead to increased spending on precisely the kinds of services it offers. HCA Healthcare has also deepened its relationships with physicians, patients, and third-party payers over time, partly through the adoption of more services. It would be challenging for any newcomer to seriously challenge HCA Healthcare, considering the ecosystem it has already built, which arguably grants it a network effect. Although there is competition, HCA Healthcare has generally increased its market share over the past decade. The stock should continue delivering superior returns long after the next recession hits, whenever that happens.
