A world-famous Mexico City bar is popping up in NYC next week

Time Out12-05-2025

For the past few years, my hometown of Mexico City has finally been recognized as a giant in the global beverage scene, and this year, a Mexico City bar, Handshake, was named the number one bar in the world.
But there's another Mexico City bar that's my personal favorite—it's called Hanky Panky, and it has also been recognized as one of the world's best many times over since it opened in 2016. Next Thursday, May 22, Hanky Panky is popping up New York City for one night, and you should definitely try it for yourself.
If you've never been, going to Mexico City's Hanky Panky is a whole experience. Located in the trendy neighborhood of Juarez, it's not an easy spot to find—I walked aimlessly up and down the same block at least three times in search of it. It turns out that the bar is hidden behind a nondescript taco restaurant that looks like dozens of others in the neighborhood. You have to ask the person behind the counter about the bar (they won't willingly tell you if you walk by looking lost), and if you're lucky enough to get a reservation, you'll be led to a secret staircase behind a fridge stacked with Modelo beers.
The bar itself is indescribably chic, with velvet booths and floating bookshelves that give it that members-only feel. It's clear from the jump that the spirits are the focus here—the menu is organized with text and images that walk you through the background of each spirit as well as the ingredients in each cocktail. Admittedly, I must have had close to six drinks when I was there, with my favorites being the mezcal-forward cocktails.
Hanky Panky is popping up at The View, New York's only revolving restaurant, which is located in the heart of Times Square. The pop-up was brought to New York by Tequila Enemigo, and Adrián López from Hanky Panky's very own team will be there serving the drinks. A variety of cocktails from the iconic bar will be served, but the focus will be its famous Paloma, which traditionally includes tequila, lime juice and a grapefruit-flavored soda. Coincidentally, all of will take place on World Paloma Day, May 22.
If the pop-up is anything like the Mexico City experience, expect to be educated and wowed by the depth of flavor and range of Hanky Panky's drinks. Make sure to make a reservation sooner rather than later to guarantee a spot. The event will begin at 7:30pm, and you can RSVP for it here.

Paloma reveals how she hopes the move will 'embolden' new talent KEEP FAITH IN NORTH Paloma Faith throws her weight behind Brits Award ditching London and calls for more support for northern rising stars PALOMA FAITH has thrown her weight behind the Brit Awards' move from London to Manchester. But she has insisted they need to champion northern talent, too. 3 Paloma with The Sun's Jack Hardwick Credit: Supplied 3 Paloma has been promoting her podcast series Mad, Sad and Bad Credit: Joe Pepler/PinPep The ceremony often celebrates alumni from London's Brit School, such as Amy Winehouse and Adele. Paloma, who won Best British Female Solo Artist at the 2015 awards, hopes youngsters who go to regular schools will finally get a look in when it takes place at the Co-op Live Arena on February 28 next year. The singer sat down with Bizarre's Jack as she hosted a pop-up 'confessions' booth in London's Covent Garden to promote her podcast series Mad, Sad and Bad. Paloma said: 'I think it will be really good for the spotlight to be shining on talent that comes from outside of London. 'The Brit School gets a lot of accolades and I really rate that school. But I feel like in the North, there is so much talent. 'I really hope they team it or pair it with a school in the North. I hope it being in Manchester will add something and emboldens the talent there.' Meanwhile, Paloma's podcast is going from strength to strength, with guests ranging from Hollywood lactor Samuel L. Jackson to fellow podcaster Vogue Williams. Revealing she's got a wishlist of guests, Paloma added: 'I really want Joan Collins. 'With Samuel L. Jackson, I sent him a message saying, 'I need your agent's number as I have a proposition for you'. 'He sent me a text saying, 'If you want something, you have to ask me yourself'. But it took me 15 days to build up the courage to call.' Paloma Faith receives praise after Late Late Show

Bethenny Frankel candidly dishes the details of her breast enhancements as plastic surgeon weighs in

Bethenny Frankel is lifting the lid on all of the breast enhancements she has undergone over the years - just days after she sparked some serious buzz while strutting down the runway at the 2025 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit show. Earlier this month, the Skinnygirl founder, 54, shocked fans around the world as she left little to the imagination in different bathing suits, including a thong. During the show, the former Real Housewives of New York star wore multiple looks, showing off her toned legs and stomach in a sultry pink polka dot bikini and black cover-up, which she later ripped off to reveal a thong bikini bottom underneath. When she reached the end of the runway, Frankel turned around to show her backside to the audience, as she jokingly covered her mouth in surprise. Later on during the runway show, she emerged in a denim bikini top and black bottoms, which she paired with a cowboy hat. She also flashed some side boob in tiny leopard-print one-piece swimsuit. As clips of Frankel circulated around the internet after the show, many viewers couldn't help but wonder what the star has been doing both diet and fitness-wise to look that good - with a lot of the focus being on her top half. It even caught the attention of The View co-host Joy Behar, who took a swipe at the mom-of-one on the show. On Sunday, the 54-year-old decided to take to her TikTok to share exactly what she's had done on her chest, detailing both a failed implant surgery and a successful breast lift. On Sunday, the 54-year-old decided to take to her TikTok to share exactly what she's had done on her chest, detailing both a failed implant surgery and a successful breast lift As clips of Frankel circulated around the internet after the show, many viewers couldn't help but wonder what the star has been doing both diet and fitness-wise to look that good - with a lot of the focus being on her top half 'In high school, I had sloppy t**ties,' Frankel announced in the new video. 'They were just like big, and natural, and they would flop.' 'They would fall to the sides, and it always bothered me, I just felt sloppy,' she continued. The BStrong founder explained that as she got older, she wanted to get a breast reduction. So, when she was in her 30s, she ended up getting small implants put in, as the doctor said that it would 'lift' her breasts. She got this done because she didn't want to have a 'lollipop' scar left over. However, once it was over, Frankel claimed that it had the opposite effect. 'He put one in, and it was like, bigger, more bulbous, and still floppy,' the former reality star claimed. And, according to Beverly Hills-based plastic surgeon Dr. John Diaz, who did not carry out Bethenny's surgery, this is a common phenomenon. 'This is a common trap a lot of patients fall into,' Dr. Diaz told exclusively. 'It's very common to have a fear of scars and sometimes patients will continue to see consultations until they find a surgeon who tells them that they can do the surgery without a lift, even though it's not true,' he explained. 'She underwent a procedure that was not going to help her. If the breasts are floppy before surgery, an implant alone will rarely improve this. It was not until she had the lift done that she had a good result.' Because of this, Frankel later had them removed, and had a breast lift done by another doctor in New York City - which is what she's still rocking today, sans implant. 'That was the best thing that ever happened, and that was like 15, 20 years ago,' she shared. She joked that her 'tires were made for talking,' and that she's gonna keep 'riding' it until a tire falls off. Dr. Diaz agreed that getting a breast lift has elicited a similar reaction in his patients - and it might be what you want to opt for if you're wanting that Bethenny Frankel look. 'This is the most common reaction I hear from patients who eventually have it done,' he shared. 'My advice is if you need a lift, do it because the final result will be well worth it,' the doctor continued. If you're feeling inspired by Frankel, Dr. Diaz recommends scheduling a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon to hear more about your options. 'I use 3D imaging to show patients what they will look like after surgery and I show them what it will look like with a lift and without a lift so they can see the difference,' Dr. Diaz said. 'In my opinion, if you don't have 3D imaging down with your consultation, then your consultation was not complete,' he said. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, a breast lift, on average, costs about $6,816. Patients will also need to factor in anesthesia fees, operating room expenses and other fees that come along with the surgery.

Whoopi Goldberg stuns The View hosts with conspiracy theory about Trump and Elon

Whoopi Goldberg stunned audiences after she peddled the theory that President Trump and Elon Musk 's public feud is just a publicity stunt. On an episode of The View, which aired Monday, the hosts discussed the fallout of the president and the former head of DOGE. Musk and Trump have been fighting online for days, each exposing and insulting each other on X and Truth Social, their respective social media platforms. Most of the hosts of The View - Ana Navarro, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Sara Haines and Sunny Hostin - dug into the intricacies and entertainment value of the fight. 'The fact that the big, beautiful bromance is over is just very funny to me,' said Hostin. 'I found the entire "Yo mama's so ugly" fight between the two of them incredibly amazing and entertaining but it's also horrifying,' added Navarro. But, Goldberg simply questioned its legitimacy. 'I love that y'all bought into it,' said the 69-year-old in response to her co-hosts' conversation. 'It's not fake,' said Griffin. But Goldberg made it clear that she is certain Trump and Musk's tiff is purely for spectacle. The actress explained she thinks the administration is using the feud as a 'distraction,' to keep Americans talking about something while other things fly under the radar. 'This is another distraction to keep us not talking about the stuff we're talking about, but the stuff that they want us to do,' she said. 'I don't buy it.' Many viewers seemed to agree with Goldberg, although her co-hosts did not. Ana Navarro called both parties 'so legitimately crazy,' citing that as evidence toward the dispute's validity. Griffin said she was 'giving them too much credit.' But Goldberg explained that Musk and Trump suddenly being upset about each other's actions didn't feel realistic to her. 'I don't buy it because they lie,' she said. While commenters on X called Goldberg's idea a conspiracy theory, that hasn't stopped many of them - on both sides of the aisle - from agreeing with her. 'Whoopi just outdid the conspiracy theorists at their own game. The weird part is... she might not be entirely wrong.' 'I'm conservative, I have zero respect for Whoopi Goldberg! I do think she is right on this,' commented a viewer. But some weren't so sure and chose to side with Navarro and Griffin on the issue. 'The Epstein tweet kind of makes this feel less like a planned strategy and more like a tantrum,' a viewer disagreed, speaking of Musk's tweet exposing Trump for being on the 'Epstein list.' One user called the move a stunt, believing it to be an effort by the two of them to quell Tesla vandalism across the United States. 'Not often do you hear Whoopi say what the internet's been thinking for months. Every feud's a headline, and every headline is a distraction,' another person said.
