Sheinelle Jones Shares That Her Husband Has Died At 45 From Glioblastoma

Sheinelle Jones last appeared on Today back in January, saying she had to take time off for "family health matters."
Her co-workers just shared that Sheinelle's husband Uche Ojeh has died after battling brain cancer.
Sheinelle and her husband were college sweethearts and shared three children together.
It's been many months since beloved Today co-host Sheinelle Jones, 47, last appeared on the show, sharing in January that she was taking time off to deal with a 'family health matter.' Now, Sheinelle's co-workers have shared devastating news: Her husband of 17 years, Uche Ojeh, has died after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer called glioblastoma. He was just 45.
Sheinelle's Today co-hosts shared the news during Friday's broadcast. 'With profound sadness, we share this morning that Uche Ojeh, the husband of our friend and Today co-host Sheinelle Jones, has passed away after a courageous battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer called glioblastoma,' Savannah Guthrie said.
'There are no words for the pain we feel for Sheinelle and their three young children,' she continued. 'Uche was an incredible person. We all loved him. And so we want to take a moment to tell you more about the remarkable man who was Sheinelle's perfect partner in life.'
The show then played a montage of Uche's life, along with Sheinelle's love story with her husband.
Sheinelle has stayed silent on social media in the months since taking a leave of absence from the show, but on Friday, she shared a post on Instagram with a clip of her co-stars revealing her family news. 'Thank you, for all of your love and support. ❤️,' she wrote in the caption. Friends, co-workers, and strangers quickly filled the comments section with their love and condolences.
Here's what Sheinelle has revealed about her experience thus far, plus what's next for her.
Sheinelle was quietly absent from Today before sharing on January 15 that she was navigating a 'family health matter.'
"I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out while I've been absent from the show. I want to share with you that I'm taking time to deal with a family health matter," she said in an Instagram post. 'It's not lost on me how lucky I am to have not on the support of my Today show family, but to also have all of you. Your kindness means so much to me. I'll see you soon.'
The comments of Sheinelle's post were flooded with messages of support from friends and Today colleagues. "So much love to you," actress Selma Blair wrote. "You are a queen and are LOVED beyond measure! Wrapping our arms around you, always ❤️" fellow Today host Jenna Bush Hager added.
During that day's Today broadcast, co-anchors Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin shouted out their colleague. "We know so many of you have been asking about Sheinelle and missing her," Savannah said. "We miss her too."
"Sheinelle, we all love you and are so looking forward to having you back," Craig added. Savannah noted that fans would see Sheinelle back "soon."
Sheinelle didn't post again on social media until her co-workers announced her husband's death.
Glioblastoma is a fast-growing and aggressive brain tumor, according to the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS). The organization refers to this form of brain cancer as 'devastating,' noting that it can lead to death in six month or less if it goes untreated.
Symptoms of this type of brain cancer include persistent headaches, double or blurred vision, vomiting, changes in mood and personality, trouble with thinking and learning, seizures, and increasing trouble with speech, per the AANS.
Sheinelle was married to business consultant Uche Ojeh for 17 years before his death.
The two fell in love in college at Northwestern University in the late 1990s. They met when Sheinelle was still a freshman. She offered to show Uche, then just a high school senior, around campus, the video voiceover said during the Today segment. Eight years later, Uche proposed back on campus "in the middle of a rainstorm," the video says. They married in Philadelphia in 2007.
Before the film played on the segment, Savannah Guthrie called him Sheinelle's "perfect partner in life."
The couple share 14-year-old Kayin and 12-year-old twins, Clara and Uche. Kayin was born in August of 2009, and the twins were born in July of 2012, per Today. Uche was an incredibly devoted father to all three of his children.
Sheinelle was originally set to release a book about parenting, called Through Mom's Eyes: Simple Wisdom From Mothers Who Raised Extraordinary Humans, in April. But that release date has been pushed back to October, according to Amazon.$26.00 at amazon.com
