Former CJI urges reasearch and innovation to boost India's global ranking
Addressing the 37th graduation day of R.V.R. & J.C. College of Engineering, Chandramoulinagar-Chowdavaram, on Saturday, he expressed concern that only 10 per cent of India's 1.5 million engineering graduates secure jobs annually, with the IIT placement rates also declining.
Mr. Ramana stressed the importance of both mother tongue and English proficiency, and praised the college for blending quality education with cultural traditions. Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) Chairman K. Madhu Murthy urged the students to convert challenges into opportunities under the 'Vision Andhra 2047' framework.
A total of 1,023 B.Tech and 153 postgraduate degrees were conferred, along with gold medals to top performers. College president Rayapati Srinivas presided over the event, attended by faculty, students, and other dignitaries.

IIT-BHU study validates fairness of Random Number Generators in online card games
IIT Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, has confirmed through an independent study that Random Number Generators (RNGs) used in online card games meet high statistical fairness by Dr Bhaskar Biswas, Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, the research applied internationally accepted methodologies to evaluate the randomness and integrity of card shuffling non-Personally Identifiable Information gameplay data from RummyCulture, the study examined both 53-card and 106-card formats over a three-month TESTING USING DIEHARDER SUITE The team used the globally recognised 'Dieharder' statistical test suite, a benchmark for RNG quality, to assess thousands of card distribution tests evaluated multiple aspects of randomness, including uniformity, independence and findings showed that RNGs passed 97.34% of all Dieharder tests for 53-card games and 98.25% for 106-card games.P-value distributions were largely uniform in both cases, with only minimal clustering at the edges, which is consistent with theoretical expectations.'These results demonstrate a high level of statistical conformity and provide reassurance about the robustness of RNG implementations in digital card games,' said Dr Biswas. 'In games such as online rummy, the underlying randomness must be beyond reproach.'FIRST ACADEMIC VALIDATION OF REAL-WORLD RNG DATAThis is the first time in the skill-based Real Money Gaming and wider global gaming industry that an independent academic body has analysed actual gameplay RNG IIT-BHU team conducted multiple Dieharder tests, such as the Birthday Spacing Test, Bitstream and Rank Tests, Parking Lot and Minimum Distance Tests, and DNA and OPSO/OQSO results consistently confirmed no detectable bias or predictability in RNG AND INDUSTRY SIGNIFICANCEThe report highlights the regulatory importance of these findings. RNGs in digital gaming are subject to audits under standards like NIST and the British Remote Technical IIT-BHU study confirms that the tested systems meet these which previously earned RNG certifications from iTech Labs (ISO 17025 certified), sees the study as a reaffirmation of its commitment to fair to the platform, such independent validations help maintain ethical standards, boost player trust, and ensure sustainable growth for the online gaming industry.- Ends

IIT-Roorkee researchers develop promising drug candidate to fight antibiotic resistance
Dehradun: In a significant step forward in the global fight against antibiotic resistance , IIT-Roorkee researchers have developed a new drug candidate, Compound 3b, that can restore the effectiveness of a potent antibiotic against deadly drug-resistant bacteria, an official release said. Led by Ranjana Pathania from the Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering, an IIT Roorkee team including Mangal Singh and Perwez Bakht, along with Norwegian collaborator Annette Bayer and her team from UiT Tromso, has designed a novel molecule that works alongside the antibiotic Meropenem to treat infections caused by KPC-2-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae , a superbug listed among the World Health Organization's top-priority threats, the release said. "This breakthrough offers a promising solution to one of the world's most urgent health challenges -- antimicrobial resistance. Our compound neutralises the resistance mechanism, showing strong therapeutic results in preclinical models," Pathania, the principal investigator of the study, said. The molecule belongs to a class of β-lactamase inhibitor drugs that prevents bacterial enzymes from breaking down life-saving antibiotics. Compound 3b is highly specific, safe to human cells, and works synergistically with Meropenem to kill resistant bacteria, the release said, adding that lab and animal tests significantly reduced bacterial infection in the lungs.

Focus on innovation: Former CJI NV Ramana to engineering students
VIJAYAWADA: The 37th batch and 10th graduation day of RVR & JC College of Engineering, Chowdavaram, was celebrated on Saturday with former Chief Justice of India NV Ramana as chief guest and Andhra Pradesh Council of Higher Education Chairman Prof. K Madhu Murthy as guest of honour. Justice Ramana said, 'Technology can create miracles and solve problems easily, but only 10 per cent of India's 1.5 million engineering graduates are likely to get jobs. Even IIT placements dropped to 60% in 2024. Students must equip themselves with skills, respect their mother tongue, and master English for global opportunities.' Prof. Madhu Murthy urged students to turn challenges into opportunities. A total of 1,023 and 153 PG students received degrees, with gold medals for toppers.
