This past week, the New Orleans Saints have recently honored two iconic football players. They announced on June 12, 2025 that Tracy Porter and Brett Maxie were inducted into the Saints Hall of Fame.
They both were very relevant in two different chapters of the franchise's history. Tracy Porter is most famously known for his game winning interception in Super Bowl XLIV, while Brett Maxie was part of that 1987 team and contributed to the team's first playoff appearance. The recognition will take place in Week 15 of the season during a home game against division rival Carolina Panthers.

That single play made Tracy Porter a hometown legend. 'We'll always remember what he did on the biggest stage,' said Ken Trahan, the Saints Hall of Fame director. Though Tracy Porter started 39 of the 43 games he played, it was that one play that placed him in team history forever.
Brett Maxie helped the New Orleans Saints reach their first playoffs
Playing for the New Orleans Saints from 1985-1993, Brett Maxie was a safety and not averse to hitting people. He pried the ball from the hands of opposing quarterbacks 15 times in nine seasons and he became a dependable defender.
One of the epic defensive plays on his resume was made in 1987 when Brett Maxie made a fourth-down stop against the Pittsburgh Steelers late in the season.
This stop secured the New Orleans Saints a winning record, their first in franchise history, and a spot in the were years of work, consistency and leadership that made Brett Maxie a vital part of the New Orleans Saints.
Two others will also be honored. Steve Gleason, known for his brave health battle, will get the Courage Award. Also, late sportscaster Ed Daniels will be given the Joe Gemelli 'Fleur de Lis' Award for his longtime work covering the team.
