Mother of teen driver in Senawang crash to submit representation to A-GC
SEREMBAN: The mother of the Honda Jazz driver involved in a fatal crash that claimed the lives of three teenagers in March will be submitting a representation to the Attorney-General's Chambers (A-GC) regarding the charge of allowing her underage son to drive the vehicle. Lawyer Johan Radzi, representing the accused, Nur Farahidayah A. Rahman, 40, informed the court of this during case mention proceedings before magistrate Nurul Azuin Mohd Talhah today. Earlier, deputy public prosecutor P. Rubini said the prosecution was ready to hand over the relevant documents to the defence. According to the charge, Nur Farahidayah, as the owner of the Honda Jazz, allegedly permitted a 17-year-old minor to drive the vehicle. The offence was said to have been committed at around 8.30pm at the traffic lights along Jalan Persiaran Senawang 1, Taman Matahari Heights, on March 6. The charge is framed under Section 39(5) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries a maximum penalty of a RM2,000 fine, imprisonment for up to six months, or both, upon conviction. The court has set June 26 for further mention of the case to hear the status of the representation. Previously, it was reported that a Honda Jazz driven by a teenage boy failed to stop at a red traffic light and collided with two motorcycles approaching from the left. Two of the victims, Muhammad Aidil Ramdan Abdullah, 15, and Muhammad Aswari Lotpi, 16, were pronounced dead at the scene, while Aisar Azim Abdullah, 17, succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital on March 10.
