Popular singer scolds fan for bringing baby to concert. ‘Protect his ears or something.'
Colombian music star Maluma stopped a recent concert to call out a fan who brought their infant to the show. The musician paused his show in Mexico City over the weekend to point out a fan holding a baby in the crowd. The rapper and singer then scolded the concert attendee for not properly preparing the young child for the hubbub of the show. 'With all due respect… how old are they? A year old? Less?" Maluma asked in Spanish, according to a translation by Variety. 'Do you think it's a good idea to bring a one-year-old baby to a concert where the decibels are f------ high, where the sound is super loud?' Footage of the music star's concert interruption has since gone viral. 'Next time, protect their ears or something. For real. It's heavy. It's your responsibility. You're waving them around like they're a toy. That baby doesn't want to be there, for real,' Maluma said. 'I'm telling you with all love and respect, now that I'm a father… would never bring them to a concert. For the next time, be a bit more aware.' Maluma welcomed his first child, Paris, into the world in March 2024 with his girlfriend Susana Gómez. The show was one of three dates in Mexico City as part of the +Pretty +Dirty tour. The tour will continue through August. 23 with three more shows in Mexico and one in El Salvador. Maluma lectures parent who brought baby to concert: 'I would never'
Maluma went into dad mode at a concert in Mexico City over the weekend. The Colombian sensation took a moment during a show to scold a parent who brought a young child to a loud concert, as seen in social media video. The singer-songwriter clarified the age of the child, who is one year old, before giving the parent a talking to. "Do you think it's a good idea to bring a 1-year-old baby to a concert where the decibels are through the ... roof, where the sound is blasting?" he said in Spanish. "Next time, protect their ears." He continued: "You're swinging him around like he's a toy. That child doesn't want to be here." Maluma, who has a 1-year-old daughter himself with girlfriend Susana Gomez, added that he was looking at the situation from a parent's eyes. The tour wraps up in San Salvador on Aug. 23. The rules around kids at shows can vary from promoter to promoter, venue to venue and country to country. Generally speaking, the rules are actually guidelines. The only restrictions might revolve around the age at which a child must show up with a ticket as opposed to going in free.
