Son stuck in lift, father dies of heart attack
Bhopal: A 51-year-old man died of a heart attack in Bhopal after his eight-year-old son got stuck in the elevator due to a brief power outage on Monday night. The child came out safely in a couple of minutes when the generator came on, but the shock killed the father. The deceased, Rishiraj Bhatnagar, collapsed seconds after instructing the security guard to switch on the generator. Police feel he had a severe panic attack, as his child was trapped. Investigation officer ASI Amod Sharma said Rishiraj lived with his schoolteacher wife and two sons in a third-floor apartment in Nirupam Royal Palm Colony of Jatkhedi locality. He worked as an insurance and property broker. His elder son, Harshit, 16, recently cleared his Class 12 exams, and his younger son, Devansh, is in class 3. After dinner, Rishiraj went downstairs for a walk around 10.30pm. Finding Devansh still playing outside, he asked him to go home, said the ASI. The boy took the elevator. Moments later, the power went out. Alarmed, Rishiraj ran to the guard room and asked the securityman to switch on the generator as it was a manual one. He also asked for the keys to open the lift, say residents. After walking 25-30 steps towards the lift, Rishiraj collapsed. Electricity returned within three minutes, and Devansh was safely able to exit the lift, ASI Sharma said. However, his father lay unconscious. Harshit and some neighbours rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. When Rishiraj's body was brought back to the colony on Tuesday afternoon, there was an outpouring of grief. Residents remembered him as a kind and active member of the colony's management committee, always ready to help others.

'Very excited for the auctions after my performance': Devank Dalal ready to lead PKL 12 auction charge
Mumbai: The Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 auction on May 31 and June 1 are shaping up to be the most blockbuster player draft in league history, with multiple established stars entering the auction pool. Leading this star-studded lineup is Devank Dalal, PKL 11's Best Raider, who scored 301 raid points in 426 raids including 8 Super Raids and 18 Super 10s while leading Patna Pirates to the finals. Despite his stellar achievements, Patna Pirates chose not to retain him, making Dalal one of the most coveted free agents available. "After such an outstanding performance, this is my first auction experience, so I am very excited," Dalal said. His breakthrough season was highlighted by a memorable 26-point performance. "Early in the season, my 26-point match changed my life. I received tremendous encouragement from that performance. That match helped me grow throughout the season." Dalal remains open about his destination preferences. "I can perform well with any team, but there's no guarantee which team will succeed - nothing is predetermined." However, he hasn't ruled out a Patna Pirates reunion: "If Patna Pirates use their Final Bid Match option, then I would return to that team." The auction will separate him from successful raiding partner Ayan Lohchab. "There are supporting raiders in every team, but I will definitely miss Ayan because we had excellent coordination." When it comes to pressure from high price tags, the young raider displayed a certain sense of maturity. "There's no pressure about how much money is involved. The prize money is a good thing, but if there's pressure, then performance suffers. Whatever is written in our destiny, we will get that much." His goals for PKL 12 showcase unwavering ambition: "My personal goal is simple - whichever team I go to, I will give my best. I will perform even better than last year and try to help the team win all the titles."

IndyCar hits Team Penske with penalties for illegally modifying cars in Indy 500 qualifying
IndyCar hits Team Penske with penalties for illegally modifying cars in Indy 500 qualifying Show Caption Hide Caption IndyCar president Boles gives update on Team Penske cars IndyCar president Doug Boles shares update on the two Team Penske cars getting pulled from qualifying. INDIANAPOLIS -- IndyCar has moved the Nos. 2 and 12 cars of Josef Newgarden and Will Power to the 32nd and 33rd spots on the grid for Sunday's Indianapolis 500 following Team Penske's violations during pre-Fast 12 qualifying tech inspection, where IndyCar technical director Kevin Blanch found the team had illegally modified seams in the cars' attenuators by filling in gaps that may have given them an aerodynamic advantage. After not logging attempts during Sunday's Fast 12, Newgarden and Power were initially set to start 11th and 12th on Sunday's grid, respectively. "The integrity of the Indianapolis 500 is paramount, and this violation of the IndyCar rule against modification to this part and using it 'as supplied' is clear,' IndyCar president Doug Boles said in a news release. 'The penalty should be more than simply starting where the cars might have qualified anyway, if given the opportunity. The cars belong in the field as two of the fastest 33; however, starting on the tail of the field is the appropriate penalty in this instance.' Since the incident, IndyCar officials investigated whether the No. 3 of Scott McLaughlin, which crashed during early afternoon practice and failed to make a qualifying attempt in the Fast 12, also had a legally prepared attenuator. IndyCar impounded the car's attenuator and deemed it to have been legal and unmodified. Therefore, the series said, the No. 3 will maintain it's 10th-place starting spot on the grid. IndyCar has also suspended the team strategists for the Nos. 2 and 12 entries for the remainder of Indy 500 activities, and both cars will forfeit their points earned in qualifying. Both entries have also been fined $100,000. Both cars will also forfeit their pit positions and will select their pit boxes for the race after the remainder of the field has had the opportunity to adjust their picks. "The positive momentum around the IndyCar series and the Indianapolis 500 has been on a steep crescendo over the last several months, and we want it to be clear that our intent is to maintain that momentum and discourage teams from putting IndyCar in positions where it calls into question the integrity of our officiating and the levelness of the playing field,' Boles said in a release. 'As we look to the remainder of the week and the race this weekend, we will do everything we can to make it clear that this is not only the best racing on the planet but racing where the best win under completely fair conditions.' Editor's note: This story was updated to correct the status of McLaughlin's attenuator.

No. 23 WVU bows out of Big 12 tournament semifinals after 12-1 thrashing by Arizona
ARLINGTON, Texas – The WVU baseball team will hardly miss Globe Life Field, the home of MLB's Texas Rangers. In four seasons, the Mountaineers went 1-7 at the ballpark, including a 12-1 loss to Arizona in the Big 12 Conference semifinals on Friday. BOX SCORE 'We didn't play our best brand of baseball,' WVU first-year head coach Steve Sabins said. 'We've got to recoup and get ready for a regional. It was awesome being one of the final four teams, and Arizona was awesome. We've got to give them a lot of credit.' The conference tournament will be held at the Rangers' spring training field in Surprise, Arizona from 2026-2029. Just a day after setting the program record for wins in a season, the top-seeded Mountaineers (41-14) couldn't find any kind of rhythm against the fourth-seeded Wildcats (38-18). Offensively, junior Logan Sauve – a first team all-Big 12 catcher – was one of the only bright spots for the Mountaineers, going 2-for-3. Sophomore third baseman Armani Guzman went 2-for-2, and junior designated hitter Sam White went 2-for-4. The Mountaineers finished with 10 hits but couldn't muster an extra base hit. Meanwhile, the Wildcats delivered a heavy blow to WVU when Mason White belted a three-run home run off Jack Kartsonas (6-3). That prompted Sabins to replace Kartsonas with junior reliever Robby Porco. While Kartsonas struck out six and walked just two, he allowed five runs on eight hits in four innings. Seven Mountaineer relief pitchers combined to allow seven runs on nine hits. Redshirt junior outfielder Chase Swain, a Manhattan transfer, pinch hit in the seventh inning with an RBI single that kept the Mountaineers from getting run-ruled. He drove home Guzman. 'We scratched a run and showed some life,' Sabins said. The one run allowed WVU relief pitcher Reese Bassinger, a Tarleton State transfer who grew up 52 miles northeast of Globe Life Field to toss a shutout eighth inning. 'I was fired up to get Bassinger in there, and he was super successful,' Sabins said.
