John Cena had secret procedure after trolls cruelly targeted his appearance
John Cena has confirmed that he secretly underwent a hair transplant at the end of last year as a result of persistent bullying from fans on social media . The WWE legend recently opened up how online comments led him to get the cosmetic procedure , slamming trolls for ripping him "to shreds" for a genetic problem he "can't control". The 41-year-old - who previously opened up on his cancer scare - is known for boasting an impressive physique thanks to his career in wrestling , yet it is his hair which has proved to be a setback. Resurfaced images from 2022 revealed a "bald spot" on the back of Cena's head during one of his fights, prompting fans to tease him about his hair loss until he decided to seek treatment for the issue. Despite only recently winning a record-breaking 17th WrestleMania world title , the WWE superstar has been more fixated on the online abuse. In unison, you chant and make me feel small and embarrass me. That is straight-up bullying and not cool." The wrestler-turned-actor added: "Thank you for bullying me into surgical hair replacement. That's how far y'all pushed me." He stood by his decision, however, stating: "There is no shame in that. [Balding] happens to seven out of 10 dudes. I got a problem. I try to fix it." When quizzed about the procedure by the show's panel, Cena, who was sporting a black hat to cover the top of his head, explained: 'You have to take the [hair] from the side and plant [it] in at the top. It just takes a while for it to come in." He added that he expects significant hair growth in the coming weeks. "Hopefully in a couple of months, it looks better," he said. Despite revealing he underwent the procedure in November, the veteran wrestler humorously noted how he can't grow a moustache, saying that he's "got nothing." WWE's WrestleMania concluded on Sunday night, with Cena making history by winning his 17th world championship. He cemented his legacy as the greatest of all time, surpassing Ric Flair to become the wrestler with the most world titles under his belt after toppling Cody Rhodes, thanks to a little assistance from Texas-born rapper Travis Scott . Notably absent, though, was The Rock, who hasn't made an appearance since he lent Cena a hand earlier this year. It would appear to be the final time the two would share the ring, however, after Cena declared his retirement from WWE after a 22-year stint in February. With that announcement, he brought to an end more than two decades of being a main fixture in the company's legendary narratives. In that time, he has squared off against heavyweights like Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Triple H , Brock Lesnar, and Randy Orton. Since making waves in the wrestling world, Cena has successfully transitioned into acting, starring in more than 40 films including the Fast and Furious series, Barbie, Daddy's Home, and Trainwreck. Cena has also hosted Saturday Night Live and the ESPY's, and is currently leading the cast in HBO's Peacemaker.
