Regina police recover 280 grams of cocaine during assault investigation

Two 18-year-olds are facing drugs and weapons charges after Regina police seized approximately 280 grams of cocaine during a call to investigate a possible assault.
Officers were called to the 600 block of Queen Street around 9:10 p.m. Monday night after information said three males attempted to assault someone before fleeing in a vehicle.
According to a Regina police news release, the vehicle was stopped on the 1400 block of Edward Street and three occupants were arrested.
While searching the vehicle police found approximately 280 grams of cocaine, 2.37 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, a loaded gun and other items consistent with drug trafficking.
One man was charged with possession of a scheduled substance, possession of proceeds obtained by crime, careless storage of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a prohibited device or ammunition in a motor vehicle, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition and two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.
The other 18-year-old suspect was charged with possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
Both of the accused made their first court appearances Tuesday morning, Regina police said.
