Talented local artists to feature at west Wicklow's next ‘Sitting Room Session'
Kicking off at 7 pm, the evening of music will welcome Baltinglass songwriter and multi instrumentalist Cormac Doyle, who has toured various parts of the globe wowing audiences from Scandinavia, Africa, Siberia, USA, and countries all over Europe, and is currently recording his catalogue of original material with a release set for 2025/2026.
Next up will be 21-year-old singer-songwriter from the Glen of Imaal, Kendal Moody, whose love for music began from a young age, with lyric writing holding a close space in her heart.
A graduate of the Cork School of Music, Kendal is currently working on and releasing new music. Her music tastes include artists like Stevie Nicks, Joni Mitchell and Crosby, Stills & Nash.
Last up on the night, Carlow-based Asophonics is an emerging Irish musical duo comprising Aaron Thompson and Sophia Jones.
Formed in late 2023, their sound weaves intricate, open-tuned guitars with dynamic, harmonically rich vocals to create a distinctive blend of folk and indie rock.
Lyrically, Asophonics delve into themes of love, loss, and the complexities of modern politics, delivering raw emotional depth with every song. In their first year as a duo, Asophonics has quickly gained recognition on both the local and national music scenes.
Highlights of their debut year include opening for Encore at the renowned Pan Celtic Festival, organising and headlining a sold-out debut show, and being selected as finalists in Hot Press Magazine's 2024 Local Hero competition.
With the release of their debut single, Washing Dishes, Asophonics has captivated international audiences, drawing attention from fans and industry professionals alike.
The Sitting Room Session will take place at Horan's of Baltinglass on May 14 at 7 pm. No booking is required.
On May 13, Baltinglass & District A.R.A. and Creative Places Baltinglass will host an afternoon of dancing and music as part of the Bealtaine Festival.
Taking place in Germaine's of Baltinglass from 3pm, the social tea dance will feature Blacknights, who will play all your favourite songs.
