Police Bodycam Footage Shows Corvette Factory Theft Suspect Arrest

Read the full story on The Auto Wire We covered before how on March 22 eight 2025 Corvettes were stolen from Bowling Green Assembly, but now we have police bodycam footage of one suspect being arrested. Police were able to recover Corvettes taken from the factory, but it seems the other suspects have gotten away, for bodycam footage, which was just released by Bowling Green Police Department on April 8, shows an officer chase the suspect, 21-year-old Deantae Walker as he ran away in a Lowe's parking lot. Walker and some other men called a car transport service to have a 2017 Corvette shipped to the Detroit area. However, when the driver showed up at the Low's parking lot, he found the men were waiting with three brand new C8 Corvettes. Thinking it was weird, the guy still started loading the sports cars. The men began pressuring him to work faster, and that coupled with undercarriage damage on one of the vehicles prompted the driver to reach out to police. When officers arrived, Walker started running through the parking lot, calling out to another man in a Jeep with Ohio license plates. His friend seemed to have ditched him as Walker was chased down, handcuffed, and arrested. Cops not only were able to recover the three stolen C8 Corvettes being loaded for transport, they found the other five the same day in two other locations. Sadly, we know those sports cars won't be delivered to customers and might even end up as scrap, all thanks to their being stolen. Walker's fate remains to be seen. We hope his accomplices are also caught before they can do another auto factory heist. Eight Corvettes stolen from plant in Bowling Green

HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – A call about a missing Corvette led to the discovery of eight Corvettes being allegedly stolen from the Corvette plant in Bowling Green. According to an investigation synopsis, dispatch received a call from the Warren County Sheriff's Office stating deputies had located what was believed to be a stolen Corvette from the Corvette plant. A deputy claimed they received a call from a woman who told dispatch that a young black male in all black clothing drove up in a red brand-new Corvette with the sticker still on it. The woman said the male got out of the vehicle and took off back to an apartment complex on Plano Road. The manager was able to confirm the vehicle was one from their lot. Officials received word that another Corvette was allegedly found near the 500 building. A reported inventory search confirmed eight stolen Corvettes. An officer reportedly located a dark orange Corvette on Anise Lane. Federal grand jury indicts multiple people from Henderson Officials state authorities were able to make contact with an apartment owner that had a camera. The footage allegedly showed all three vehicles coming into the complex. The footage also allegedly showed a white male get out, wearing a green pullover sweatshirt with a red shirt under it, grey sweatpants and a hood. The apartment owner then called, claiming he had gone out to try and help find the other five Corvettes and had located two more in the 200 block of Cumberland Trace. Two Corvettes that were reported as black and blue were found. Officials say dispatch then received a call from a transport driver that he had two males who scheduled for him to transport one 2017 Corvette to Michigan. He claimed when he arrived, the subject (later identified as Deantae Walker) had three brand new 2025 Corvettes waiting for transport. He also claimed he was being rushed while he was loading the vehicles, he saw that they had damage on the bottom of them, categorizing the interaction starting to seem 'weird'. Walker was detained by officers after a chase in the parking lot. The other suspect allegedly fled the scene in a Jeep with Ohio tags. The last three Corvettes were reported accounted for. Officials state the estimated total for all eight vehicles was $1.2 million. Walker was transported and booked into the Warren County Regional Jail. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. 8 new Corvettes go missing from Kentucky car plant, but the conspicuous muscle cars are all found

Thieves took eight Corvettes from the lot of a Kentucky automobile plant where the legendary muscle car is built, but officers recovered the vehicles and made an arrest, police said. The cars were taken from the GM Bowling Green Assembly plant in southern Kentucky, the home of the Chevrolet Corvette since the early 1980s. The eight cars were valued at $1.2 million, police said. Police said the thieves cut a fence at the plant to get the cars out. A man later arrested and charged with the theft of three cars said while being booked into jail that if he 'would have made it back to Michigan, I would have been paid big,' according to a police report. The first car was located Saturday when a woman at an apartment complex in Bowling Green called police to say she saw a man park a new Corvette with stickers on it at the complex and then walk away. Police contacted the manager of the assembly plant, who checked the inventory and reported that eight Corvettes were missing, according to a Bowling Green Police report. Police later located four more Corvettes at different locations. The last three were found after officers received a call from a transporter driver who said he was asked to come to a location to pick up an older model Corvette to transport to Michigan. When the driver arrived, he saw three new 2025 Corvettes and told police the two men trying to move them were in a hurry. He also noticed damage on the bottom of the cars and called the transaction 'weird,' according to the citation. When police arrived, they detained a 21-year-old man after a chase and charged him with receiving stolen property, fleeing arrest and engaging with organized crime. Another man fled in a Jeep with Ohio tags, police said. Bowling Green Police Public Information Officer Ronnie Ward said Tuesday that no other arrests have been made.
