ILLINOIS — Illinois State Police announced on Wednesday the deployment of a new command vehicle that will replace an 18-year-old vehicle. The new command vehicle is equipped with high-definition cameras and monitors, new communication technology, real-time data access, and dual slide-outs for a larger conference room. The vehicle will be stationed in Springfield, Illinois, and will be used as a 'central hub' for ISP officers during natural disasters, large-scale accidents, public events, and search-and-rescue operations. Truck carrying 3,000 gallons of diesel crashes in Charlotte

A portion of Ferry Road in Charlotte is closed this morning while crews remove a tractor-trailer hauling diesel fuel that crashed just after 5:45 a.m. Inspectors with the Department of Motor Vehicles say the tires on the 2025 Freightliner caught the edge of the road, which gave way, causing the rig to crash into a drainage ditch. The driver, Wayne Thebarge, 56, of Westford, was not hurt. Vermont Agency of Transportation says the truck is owned by Lake Champlain Transportation Company. It was hauling 3,000 gallons of diesel fuel. It had to be towed from the scene. Also on the scene this morning were the Vermont State Police, Charlotte Fire Department, Charlotte Rescue, and the Charlotte Highway Department. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
