Illinois State Police deploy new command vehicle
ILLINOIS — Illinois State Police announced on Wednesday the deployment of a new command vehicle that will replace an 18-year-old vehicle.
According to ISP, the new 2025 Freightliner will 'improve emergency response coordination, enhance safety, and provide crucial on-site support during critical incidents.'
The ISP said the new vehicle was provided by the U.S. Department of Energy and Office of Radiological Security.

The Freightliner is replacing a similar vehicle that ISP said was 18 years old and used outdated technology. The new command vehicle is equipped with high-definition cameras and monitors, new communication technology, real-time data access, and dual slide-outs for a larger conference room.
The vehicle will be stationed in Springfield, Illinois, and will be used as a 'central hub' for ISP officers during natural disasters, large-scale accidents, public events, and search-and-rescue operations.
The Freightliner will also be used for training officers on response to hazardous material incidents.

On-site interviews held at Peoria Goodwill's annual job fair
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Hundreds of people gathered at Goodwill Commons in Peoria Friday for the organization's annual Big Job Fair, hoping to connect with potential employers and find new career opportunities. The event featured around 30 employers from across Central Illinois, including Illinois State Police, OSF HealthCare, Carle Health, and CEFCU. Many companies conducted on-site interviews in designated rooms, giving applicants the chance to land a job on the spot. Tim O'Malley, Community Relations Manager for Goodwill of Central Illinois, said the goal of the fair is to break down barriers for people searching for employment. 'I think it's hard for anyone to find a job. So, we want to try to make it as easy as possible and reduce any barriers that they may have trying to find that work,' said O'Malley. He shared one of the most rewarding moments from the day overhearing a father excitedly tell his child that he had just been hired. 'I heard someone say to their child, 'Guess what? Dad just got a job.' And I could hear in the background the kid yelling and happy. So that's really rewarding to hear and see,' he said. For those who missed the annual event, Goodwill Commons hosts smaller job fairs every month, continuing its mission to support the local workforce and connect job seekers with meaningful employment. Indiana Secretary speaks on energy
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Governor Mike Braun has recently appointed Suzanne Jaworowski as Secretary of Energy and Natural Resources. She said Hoosiers should be excited, not worried about the future. Jaworowski ran President Trump's 2016 campaign for Indiana and has served as Chief of Staff at the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Nuclear Energy and the International Atomic Energy Agency in Austria. She said Governor Braun is currently focused on a reliable energy grid and affordability for Hoosiers, while keeping the state's natural resources healthy. However, she said this is a unique time with the demand for energy across the state. 'Right now, we are at an unprecedented, historic time for energy demand', Jaworowski said. 'Our energy needs are surging because of AI data centers, steel manufacturing, reshoring of manufacturing and industry, but also just our everyday electrification. Think about all of the things we plug in every single day and it's driving our need for electricity far more than we've ever had in our lifetime.' Jaworowski said that one of the governor's goals is to deploy nuclear energy in the state. She said it is the right time for everyone involved. 'Nuclear is large scale, always available, carbon free, clean electricity that will last for 80 to 100 years to come', Jaworowski said. 'It's extremely important for the state of Indiana to be able to deploy that energy source while we need it right now, while the federal government is helping to support the development of it and industry is ready to partner with us to help pay for it, which makes it much more affordable for Hoosiers.'
