The Beyoncé boost: How Chicago's economy benefits from ‘Cowboy Carter' Tour
Note: Thursday night's 'Cowboy Carter' concert at Soldier Field has been delayed due to the threat of severe weather. CHICAGO (WGN) — Beyoncé, the most-winning and nominated artist in Grammy history, is not only bringing her hits for a three-night stint at Soldier Field, but also a major boost for the local economy. 'We're so excited because when Beyoncé comes, she doesn't just bring the visitors, she brings the residents out, people from all of our surrounding areas throughout the state, and she brings the energy,' said Choose Chicago president and CEO Kristen Reynolds. The organization said it welcomed an estimated 55.3 million visitors to the city in 2024, a 6.5% year-over-year increase. International tourism is also estimated to have topped two million people for the first time since before the COVID-19 pandemic. Three 'Cowboy Carter' shows and the National Restaurant Association show in Chicago this weekend are a hopeful sign for the 131,000 workers who rely on the local tourism industry and its visitors. Beyoncé wins album of the year at the 2025 Grammys for 'Cowboy Carter' Downtown hotels reported 95% occupancy on the first night of Beyoncé's last concert tour stop in Chicago. 'It does matter, because that is tax revenue and that's revenues that keep our taxes lower as residents, so when we bring the visitors in, it really does benefit our city,' Reynolds explained. The shows directly benefit short-term rental property owners, like Houston native Michelle Singleton, who owns an Airbnb property in Washington Park. While she's pleased her place books quickly, she said it also gives her a chance to showcase a part of the city outside of downtown. 'In the Airbnb you'll see a lot of history about the area. So when those concerts come, it brings people into other parts of the city that they may not typically venture out to,' she said. Airbnb said searches for stays in the city surged more than 100% compared to the same last year as 'fandom' travelers looked to stay closer to the action. The company also said a 2024 survey of guests show they spent an average of $205 per day on local restaurants, groceries and attractions during their stays, benefitting small businesses and communities. 'It's amazing,' Reynolds said. 'It's going to be an incredible Chicago summer. The fountain is on – Buckingham Fountain – we have a Chicago pope, and now Beyoncé is coming to town. It could not be more perfect timing.' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

Spend 'august' at Taylor Swift's now-available former Cape Cod mansion: See residence
Spend 'august' at Taylor Swift's now-available former Cape Cod mansion: See residence Show Caption Hide Caption Taylor Swift halts the 2025 Grammys red carpet Taylor Swift has finally arrived at the 2025 Grammys. The veteran Grammys winner took 'loving you is red' to a whole different level. Entertain This! A Cape Cod mansion, "Begin Again" singer Taylor Swift lived in for a summer, is back on the market. The Grammy-award winning songstress lived at 27 Marchant Avenue in Hyannis Port for a few months in 2012, when she reportedly dated Conor Kennedy, the son of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The 5,064 square-foot home, which has been on the market for just a few weeks, is currently listed for $14.5 million. "She purchased (the home)," Robert B. Kinlin, the property's listing agent, told USA TODAY on May 8. "It's no secret that she was dating one of the Kennedy kids. And when that ended, someone else stepped in and bought this, and that person who stepped in and bought it is also selling it now." Swift's old pad, located in the "heart of Hyannis Port," comes complete with eight bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a "sun-drenched" sunroom, an outdoor pool, guest quarters, a circular driveway and a three-vehicle garage among other amenities. The waterfront property, offering panoramic views across Nantucket Sound and sitting within eyeline of the famed Kennedy Compound, was also recently remodeled by the couple who purchased the home from Swift. "Taylor (Swift) had it, it was very nice, but it was older, looking dated," Kinlin said. "This couple breathed new energy and blood into the place. And even though the floor plan is relatively the same, the decorating is very different, very soothing." How long did Taylor Swift live in Cape Cod? Kinlin, who facilitated the original sale, said he believes Swift lived at 27 Marchant Avenue for between six to eight months while she was dating Conor Kennedy. The realtor never met Swift; instead, he worked directly with her father, Scott Swift, who was facilitating the negotiations on his daughter's behalf. "I saw her from a distance, but all the rigmarole that goes along with purchasing a home, I worked with her dad," Kinlin said. Swift and Conor Kennedy, according to Newsweek, dated from July to October 2012. In an October 2012 interview with The Cape Cod Times, the late Ethel Kennedy, Conor's grandmother, described Swift as "spectacular" and "sensational inside and out." "You know what she really is? She's game. She had never sailed before; she sailed," Ethel Kennedy said. "She had never gone dragging before; she dragged. She played anything that everyone else was doing. And she was good at it, and no fuss. And I'm happy that we'll be neighbors. I'm thrilled.' The couple split that fall due to "distance," an insider told US Weekly at the time. But she reportedly forever immortalized her time at Cape Cod with the Kennedys with two tracks: "Starlight" and "Begin Again," both on 2012 album "Red." See Taylor Swift's former Cape Cod pad The landmark estate, which looks relatively the same, was "redone," Kinlin said. "The architect and the builder did a terrific job of maintaining the era that the house was built, which was 1928, and keeping the inside and the outside of the property kind of like quintessential Cape Cod," Kinlin said. "It's very appealing on the inside and it's very appealing on the outside." See Swift's former home at 27 Marchant Avenue in photographs:

Lady Gaga 'sorry' for Coachella technical difficulties: 'At least you know I sing live'
Lady Gaga 'sorry' for Coachella technical difficulties: 'At least you know I sing live' Show Caption Hide Caption Lady Gaga stuns in black dress at 2025 Grammys before 'Mayhem' release Lady Gaga arrives at the 2025 Grammys ahead of her "Mayhem" album release. Entertain This! Lady Gaga's most recent album title "Mayhem" is fitting for the problems that took place during her weekend 2 set at Coachella. The buzzy headliner experienced technical difficulties from the beginning of her second set at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 18 in Indio, California. During Gaga's very first song, "Bloody Mary," her headset mic stopped working and she was discreetly handed a handheld mic before starting "Abracadabra." She performed all of the choreography for that song, as well as the difficult choreography for "Judas," while holding a regular microphone. Later, with her signature humor, she offered an apology to fans: "I'm sorry my mic was broken for a second. At least you know I sing live." Coachella 2025 draws Fyre Festival comparisons as concertgoers face 12 hour wait times "Mayhem," released March 7, marks the "Born This Way" singer's seventh studio album, topping the Billboard 200 albums chart after its release. "Mayhem" closes out with her hit Bruno Mars duet 'Die With a Smile.' Among her legion of fans dubbed "Little Monsters," the album is seen as a return to her edgy, electronic roots that defined the early years of her now-two decades long career. After honing her acting skills with roles in "A Star is Born" and "Joker: Folie à Deux" and experimenting with a softer jazz sound alongside the late Tony Bennett for the 2021 joint album "Love for Sale," the album offers longtime fans more of the signature club anthems that first made Gaga famous. "This record was about celebrating bringing industrial music and grunge together, but also with these super-pop sensibilities and 2000s influences," Gaga told USA TODAY in March. Gaga's Coachella performance is her first time headlining the festival since 2017 as she is set to embark on a tour this summer to support "Mayhem." The Mayhem Ball tour, set to begin in Las Vegas on July 16, marks Gaga's first time taking her act on the road since 2022's Chromatica Ball Tour. Taylor Swift's New Song May Be a SZA Collab
SZA's recent revelation has hinted might be open to a new music collaboration. The singer-songwriter concluded her massive 'The Eras Tour' in December last year and has been enjoying some well-deserved downtime since. It now appears that Swift could be considering working on something exciting next, as her fellow Grammy-winning singer, SZA, recently got candid about their interaction at the 2025 Grammys. SZA recently appeared on the 'Jennifer Hudson Show' and gushed over her interaction with Taylor Swift at the 2025 Grammys. The 35-year-old R&B singer expressed her admiration for her fellow singer-songwriter after the talk show's host, Jennifer Hudson, pulled a clip of the duo posing together at the award show's star-studded ceremony this year. SZA said, 'It's so interesting to me,' and continued, 'Every time she walks up to me or approaches me, I'm just like, 'All right, this is happening, because that's fully Taylor Swift.' The 'Kill Bill' hitmaker shared she mentioned to the pop star that she would 'love to write with her and love to build some things together.' SZA gushed about how she loves Swift's 'storytelling.' The former further revealed, 'She was open to it,' and added, 'I think she's awesome and I have so much respect. She's so bossed up.' Moving on, SZA also shared her admiration for other artists known for blending storytelling with their music. This included Gracie Abrams, Lola Young, Doechii, Olivia Rodrigo, and Chappell Roan. SZA explained there's 'a lot of deep inner storytelling that really reflects their human experience' which she respects. The 'All the Stars' singer added she's 'just trying to dive deeper into the human experience.' While SZA subtly hinted at a collaboration, Swift has recently been enjoying some downtime and date nights with her NFL star boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
