Paul Mescal, Charli XCX and more turn heads at Cannes gala

Paul Mescal was spotted among some of the most glamorous stars in the world last night, as he attended the 2025 Kering Women In Motion Awards and Cannes Film Festival Presidential Dinner at the 78th annual Cannes Film Festival. This year's festival is running from Tue, May 13, 2025 – Sat, May 24, 2025 and has already attracted some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Mescal is due to walk the iconic red steps of the Palais des Festivals on Wednesday 21 May when he attends the premiere of his latest film, Oliver Hermanus's The History of Sound, alongside co-star Josh O'Connor. However, the Kildare native has already made a stylish appearance at the festival this past weekend. For the Women In Motion Awards, Mescal stepped out in a black retro-inspired suit featuring satin lapels, a matching satin cummerbund and black trousers, which he paired with a pale cream shirt, worn open at the neck and secured with a golden ring accent. Also at the event was Charli XCX, looking ethereal in a periwinkle blue gown by Saint Laurent, paired with a matching feather boa that contrasted beautifully with her raven hair. Halle Berry and Dakota Johnson both opted for silver numbers, both coincidentally by Gucci, with Johnson's being more sheer and featuring a bodysuit, while Berry's was heavily beaded and ornate.
