Paul Mescal, Charli XCX and more turn heads at Cannes gala
Paul Mescal was spotted among some of the most glamorous stars in the world last night, as he attended the 2025 Kering Women In Motion Awards and Cannes Film Festival Presidential Dinner at the 78th annual Cannes Film Festival.
This year's festival is running from Tue, May 13, 2025 – Sat, May 24, 2025 and has already attracted some of the biggest names in Hollywood.
Mescal is due to walk the iconic red steps of the Palais des Festivals on Wednesday 21 May when he attends the premiere of his latest film, Oliver Hermanus's The History of Sound, alongside co-star Josh O'Connor.
However, the Kildare native has already made a stylish appearance at the festival this past weekend.
For the Women In Motion Awards, Mescal stepped out in a black retro-inspired suit featuring satin lapels, a matching satin cummerbund and black trousers, which he paired with a pale cream shirt, worn open at the neck and secured with a golden ring accent.
Also at the event was Charli XCX, looking ethereal in a periwinkle blue gown by Saint Laurent, paired with a matching feather boa that contrasted beautifully with her raven hair.
Halle Berry and Dakota Johnson both opted for silver numbers, both coincidentally by Gucci, with Johnson's being more sheer and featuring a bodysuit, while Berry's was heavily beaded and ornate.

Demi Lovato marries singer-songwriter Jordan ‘Jutes' Lutes in California
She is more than just cool for the summer – Demi Lovato is officially married. The musician-actress, 32, tied the knot with Canadian singer-songwriter Jordan 'Jutes' Lutes, 34, on Sunday in California, as first reported by Vogue. The couple met while working on Lovato's last album, 2022's Holy Fvck, and dated for nearly two years before Lutes proposed in December 2023. Lutes co-wrote a few of the songs that made Holy Fvck, including Happy Ending, City Of Angels, and the pop-punk single Substance. Lovato wore a white Vivienne Westwood dress and Lutes wore a Saint Laurent suit. Lovato, a former child star, began her entertainment career on Barney & Friends before becoming a staple of Disney Channel in the 2000s for her role in the Camp Rock films and as the star of Sonny With A Chance. Beyond her acting, Lovato has long been celebrated for her gifted soprano and has released eight albums. Lutes, an independent artist whose hybridist music marries elements of emo, pop-punk and trap, was previously signed to Capitol Records. Before her relationship with Lutes, Lovato was engaged to the actor Max Ehrich in 2020. They called off their engagement after two months.

Irish actress Alison Oliver packs on the PDA with Hollywood star
It seems Irish actress Alison Oliver has officially nabbed herself a Hollywood man. The Saltburn star and The Crown's Josh O'Connor were spotted putting on a loved-up display in London as they walked through the city hand-in-hand. This is the first confirmation of their relationship in the public eye, with rumours of a romance having been circulating for some time. It seems Irish actress Alison Oliver has officially nabbed herself a Hollywood man. Pic: Brian McEvoy In photos obtained by deuxmoi, the happy couple can be seen strolling through the streets with their arms wrapped around each other, even stopping at one moment to indulge in a kiss. Although this is the first time the pair have been seen packing on the PDA, they did step out together at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival premiere of Josh's new film The Mastermind. The pair posed with the actor's parents Emily O'Connor and John O'Connor on the red carpet, and boy was it adorable. Although neither Josh or Alison, who previously dated Irish actor Éanna Hardwicke, have made a public declaration of love, it's safe to say they're for keeps. While Alison has been open about her dating life in the past, Josh has only publicly discussed his over arching crush on FKA Twigs. 'I really shouldn't be saying this, but it's hilarious. I was in a band called Orange Output basically to try and get Twigs to go out with me,' he told G in 2023. 'I was the lead singer, and one of the lyrics I wrote was 'I'm addicted to crack, motherf–ker.' The closest thing I'd had to crack was Coco Pops.' 'I don't think she knows who I am,' he joked.

Welcome to the Cannes of Cork! Triona McCarthy on what it's like to have Barry Keoghan, Paul Mescal and Saoirse Ronan bringing star power to her hometown
Since 2009, the Fastnet Film Festival has attracted a steady stream of A-listers to Schull and local Triona McCarthy shares the sense of magic, opportunity and excitement that now exists in the village Yesterday at 21:30 As a child growing up in West Cork, I could never have dreamed that Hollywood stars would one day visit my hometown of Schull. Today, I still have to pinch myself when I see A-listers like Paul Mescal, Saoirse Ronan and, last weekend, Barry Keoghan, Nicola Coughlan, Bill Pullman and Domhnall Gleeson walking around. Schull is the place I still call home; we live in Dublin during the school term and then it's straight home for the holidays. Growing up here, Hollywood was a very distant, almost mythical, place to me – our tiny village didn't even have a cinema! I was 12 before I went to the cinema for the first time. My aunties, Marie and Gráinne, came on a visit from the UK and brought us to see Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom half an hour away in Bantry.
