With the victory, the Vols advance to the Fayetteville Super Regional in Fayetteville, Arkansas for a best-of-three series. The Demon Deacons led, 2-0, in the second inning after Matt Conte hit a two-run home run. Tennessee pulled to within, 2-1, in the third inning after Levi Clark scored when Gavin Kilen reached base on an error. The Vols scored seven runs in the fourth inning and led, 8-2. Wake Forest scored two runs in the fifth inning and added one run in the sixth inning, making the score, 8-5. Tennessee combined for three runs in the seventh and eighth innings, respectively. Manny Marin went 3-for-3 and hit a three-run home run and one double. He recorded three RBIs and scored two runs. Andrew Fischer went 1-for-2 and hit a two-run home run, recording two RBIs and scored two runs. AJ Russell started for the Vols. He pitched 1.2 innings and allowed two runs and three hits. The Vols led, 1-0, in the second inning after Reese Chapman hit a solo home run. The RedHawks tied the game in the third inning on a RBI double by David Novak. Chapman went 1-for-2 and hit one home run, recorded three RBIs and scored one run for the Vols. Cannon Peebles went 2-for-4, recording two doubles and scored one run. Hunter Ensley went went 2-for-4. He totaled one RBI and scored one run, while Gavin Kilen went 2-for-4. He scored two runs and recorded one RBI for Tennessee. Liam Doyle (10-3) pitched 6.2 innings. He allowed one run, four hits and three walks. Doyle recorded 11 strikeouts, while totaling 104 pitches, including 69 strikes. Austin Breedlove pitched 0.1 innings, totaling seven pitches, including four strikes. Andrew Behnke pitched two innings. He allowed one run and one hit, while totaling 24 pitches, including 18 strikes. Tennessee will next play Saturday against Cincinnati. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. EDT. The double-elimination regional will be contested Friday-Sunday. The Vols will open play Friday against Miami University (35-21) at 6 p.m. EDT. Friday's other game will feature No. 2 seed Wake Forest (36-20) versus No. 3 seed Cincinnati (32-24). First pitch slated for 1 p.m. EDT. The Knoxville Regional will mark a return to Lindsey Nelson Stadium for former Tennessee pitcher Matthew Dallas, who now plays for Wake Forest. Dallas (1-0) appeared in 15 games, including two starts, for the Vols in 2024 as a freshman. He recorded 22 strikeouts and 4.76 ERA in 17.0 innings. Dallas allowed 11 hits, nine runs, 10 walks and two home runs. In 2025, Dallas (4-1) has recorded a 5.09 ERA. He has allowed 38 runs (30 earned), 52 hits, 28 walks and four home runs in 53 innings pitched. The former Vol has recorded 59 strikeouts. Lady Vols softball wins 2025 Knoxville Regional No. 7 national seed Tennessee (43-14) defeated Ohio State (45-13-1), 5-0, Sunday in the Knoxville Regional of the 2025 NCAA Tournament at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium. With the victory, Tennessee reaches the NCAA Super Regionals for the 14th time in program history. Tennessee will host a super regional. The Lady Vols led, 2-0, in the sixth inning after catcher Sophia Nugent hit a two-run home run. Saviya Morgan also scored on the play after she reached on an error by the Buckeyes. Laura Mealer followed with a scoring double, extending a lead to 3-0. The Lady Vols scored two runs in the seventh inning after Gabby Leach hit a solo home run and Morgan produced a RBI single. Morgan went 2-for-4, recording one double, one RBI and one run. Mealer went 2-for-3 and totaled one double and one RBI. Sophomore pitcher Sage Mardjetko (12-2) started for the Lady Vols. She pitched five innings, allowing two hits and two walks. Mardjetko recorded five strikeouts. She totaled 92 pitches, including 60 strikes. Karlyn Pickens recorded her third save of the season. She pitched two innings and recorded five strikeouts. Pickens totaled 24 pitches including 19 strikes. NCAA Tournament Super Regionals are scheduled for Thursday-Sunday.
