Iconic Classic Rock Band Joins Forces With Eagles Guitarist For Epic Colorado Concert

Iconic Classic Rock Band Joins Forces With Eagles Guitarist For Epic Colorado Concert originally appeared on Parade. 80s classic rock legends Styx recently put on an epic light show while playing with Don Felder of The Eagles at their concert in Greenwood Village, Colorado on June 9. The band, which was formed in Chicago in 1972, stopped off in Greenwood Village on their 2025 North American Tour, where they played at the city's Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre. The tour is called 'The Brotherhood of Rock Tour,' which includes the band, Felder, and guitarist Kevin Cronin, who was part of REO Speedwagon. Recently, singer-guitarist Tommy Shawopened up about writing the band's 18th studio album, Circling From Above, which drops on July 18. "You're writing about your experiences in your life and things that you love and enjoy, or things that were hard to go through and that sort of thing,' he explained in an interview with Ultimate Classic Rock published last month. 'So you're just really just writing a book in little sections like that.' The musician, 71, also explained that their label was a little wary of the album, considering it focuses on an aviary concept. Yep, you read that right: it's about birds. "But he says, 'Oh, we're birders!'" Shaw told UCR of the Styx concept album in a previous interview. "It was kind of risky to say this thing's gonna be about a bird. But there was so much enthusiasm and it's like, you know, sometimes in life things just go your way—and this went our way." The band's original lineup boasted Dennis DeYoung on vocals and keyboards, James 'JY' Young on guitar and vocals, John Curulewski on guitar and vocals, Chuck Panozzo on bass, and John Panozzo on drums. The current lineup consists of Young, Shaw, and Panozzo on bass, as well as Lawrence Gowan on vocals and keyboards, Todd Sucherman on drums, and Ricky Phillips on bass and guitar.
