Why General Hospital's new Michael is already a success in my book
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. I know some General Hospital fans will say I'm jumping the gun here, but despite Rory Gibson only officially stepping into the role of Michael Corinthos as of May 23, he's already won me over. In fact, I won't even be shocked if Gibson becomes my favorite, and I don't say that lightly, considering how much I respect Chad Duell's tenure. So if you're wondering how I could make such bold proclamations this early, let's start with the subtleties of the way Gibson carries himself in the role. As some General Hospital viewers have noted, Gibson's walk as Michael remarkably resembles the walk of the Dimpled Kingpin himself, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). The storyteller in me can't help but wonder if this was a purposefully orchestrated move on the part of Gibson and the General Hospital team, possibly signaling that this version of Michael will take on more attributes of his father this go-around. I've always said that the Michael character as a whole can be as methodical and vengeful as his father, but he didn't share his dad's willingness to resort to deadly means to get a job done. However, given that Michael has suffered relentless blows to his family thanks to Drew (Cameron Mathison) and almost lost his life thanks most likely to Sidwell (Carlo Rota), perhaps Michael's more dangerous nature has been activated. With Sonny inching closer to retirement and a more 'above-board' lifestyle these days, I think it could be rather entertaining to see Michael pick up the Corinthos mantle to a degree (I would just hope Michael does a better job of protecting his kids from enemies if this proves to be the case). Gibson is also winning me over on General Hospital because of the way he presents Michael as a doting father. Not that Duell was unbelievable as a dad, but Gibson off the bat, has arguably had more impactful scenes with his children, mainly Wiley (Viron Weaver). Heck, Wiley running off the stage into Michael's arms at the end of the 2025 Nurses Ball was one of the highlights of the very dramatic affair. Then, in the General Hospital episode airing on May 27, Michael tucked Wiley into bed, explaining how much he loved his son, and my heartstrings were tugged on a bit. I may not have cried, but I won't pretend as if I weren't moved. Lastly, it's worth noting that despite the "new Michael' not having many interactions with Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) and Drew yet, I'm already getting the sense that he's ready to give #Drillow all they have coming to them. Considering Drew has seemed to outwit his opponents at every turn lately, even Tracy (Jane Elliot), I'm excited to see Gibson's Michael take down the tawdry couple, especially his uncle. Based on the following preview clip for the episodes airing during the week of May 26, Michael doesn't appear to be in the business of extending grace. Again, also a sign that Michael may become more like his father. All in all, I'm going to have to applaud the powers that be at General Hospital for the decision to cast Gibson. He's a great actor, and if you didn't know that from watching him as Noah on The Young and the Restless, it looks like you'll get to find out watching Gibson's Michael continue making a splash in Port Charles. New episodes of General Hospital air on weekdays on ABC. If you miss an episode, you can catch up on Hulu.

General Hospital Recap: Brook Lynn Unleashes on Lois About Gio's Adoption
On today's General Hospital recap: Welcome to the 2025 Nurses 5 Brook Lynn demands answers from Lois who admits Gio is her son. Lois says she wanted Gio to go to a good family who would love him. Brook Lynn wants all the answers and Lois explains Camella wanted a baby and was thrilled when they offered Gio to her. She says it felt like the perfect solution, and they couldn't tell the truth when Camella died. Lois says she was trying to do the right thing, as Dante interrupts. Emma finds Gio at the mansion, getting ready to leave. She says she's coming with him as Tracy gets home, complaining about Drew and getting arrested. Tracy finally realizes something is wrong and questions them. Gio tells him that he's family after all which confuses Tracy. Jason prevents Willow and Drew from following Michael. Willow gets a call from the nanny while the others come out of the ballroom. Jason tells them that he took Amelia to Carly's which is where Michael was headed. Willow yells at Jason for taking her baby. Nina questions Sonny about Jason taking the baby from Willow, and he says Jason was abiding by Michael's wishes. Nina says she thought Michael's return would calm things down but now they are worse. She tells Sonny to talk Michael into a compromise, but he says this is the way things will be until Willow gets away from Drew. Sonny says Drew has ruined Willow's life and wants Nina to get her to see that. Sasha is babysitting Amelia when Michael and Wylie arrive and are reunited. Michael tucks Wylie into bed and promises he'll be there in the morning for him. Michael thanks Sasha for taking care of Amelia and sending the sonograms to him. He tells her not to worry as he will keep his promise to stay out of the baby's life. Drew and Willow head to the station to report Jason for kidnapping Amelia. (At some point, I want Mac to have had enough, roll his eyes and tell Drew to get the phoque out of his precinct.) Kai and Trina head to her apartment and enjoy champagne. She is concerned about Gio and admits she's been thinking about Spencer lately. Trina says she was worried about Kai's surgery because she didn't want to lose someone else she cares about. The two admit they had feelings for each other early on and this is a beginning for them. Afterwards, the two share some afternoon delight. Lulu finds Cody waiting for her at home with a couple of beers. Cody tells her Dante is mad and confused. He's not sure if they made the right call and asks how Gio found out. Lulu says he overheard her and Lois in the dressing room. Cody tells Lulu he was so focused on Dante, he didn't think about how this would impact Gio. He says Gio grew up with a family who adored him and was well adjusted. However, they messed everything up and feels guilty so many people's lives got ripped apart. Lulu is certain those lives are now better, but Cody disagrees. Lulu thinks it's all worth it, now that the truth is out. Further, she believes both Dante and Brook Lynn will be good parents. She says Gio has a full family now and everything has to be good, but Cody says this lie is pretty big. Lulu is certain everyone will help Gio come to terms with his new reality. Cody tells her to stay away for a while. Brook Lynn apologizes to Dante saying she couldn't tell him she was pregnant. He doesn't know why she didn't tell him, but admits she was scared so she gave the baby up for adoption. She swears she didn't know the child was Gio. Dante still doesn't understand why she didn't tell him, but she says she thought it would just upset him. Dante says they have to put it all aside to help Gio through this new reality. Tracy sends a text that Gio is at the mansion and Brook Lynn refuses to let Lois join them. Brook Lynn says she agreed to a closed adoption so they wouldn't know where the baby was, and Lois should have told her if she was changing it. She says what Lois did was unforgivable and wants her to stay away. Ned finds Lois crying. Gio angrily tells Tracy that Brook Lynn and Dante are his parents which makes her his great grandmother. Tracy wants details but he tells her to talk to Lois, and she realizes he is the baby Brook Lynn told her about. Tracy stops them from leaving and says he's her family. She says everything in this house is his and everyone is related to him, and he cries as she tells him not to push them away. Gio says he had a family, a mother he lost and now it's all a lie. He thinks everyone lied to him. He says he doesn't want to jump on the Quartermaine bandwagon as Brook Lynn and Dante show up. Keep checking back for the latest General Hospital recaps!
