Justin Thomas gets emotional over wife, daughter after first win in three years

Justin Thomas choked back tears as he explained how special it was for his wife, Jillian, and daughter, Molly, to see him win the 2025 RBC Heritage in South Carolina on Sunday. During an interview, CBS reporter Amanda Balionis mentioned that Jillian was 'just a girlfriend' and their daughter Molly 'was not here' when he won last — three years ago the PGA Championship at Southern Hills in May of 2022. 'Winning is hard, it's really, really hard,' Thomas, 31, said when Balionis asked why this victory was especially emotional for his family. 'I've worked my butt off and stayed patient, stayed positive. I got a great wife, great team, and now a great daughter, '… I just take for granted sometimes when you get on those runs. I didn't realize how much I miss winning and battling out there today was so much fun.' Jillian was beaming with pride as she held the couple's daughter in a portable baby carrier. 4 Justin Thomas choked back tears as he explained how special it was for his wife, Jillian and daughter Molly to see him win the 2025 RBC Heritage in South Carolina on Sunday, April 20, 2025. Thomas sank a 21-foot birdie putt on the first hole of a playoff with Andrew Novak to secure the victory at Harbour Town Golf Links on Sunday. It marked his 16th win on the PGA Tour and it elevated him to No. 6 in the world. 4 Justin Thomas poses with his wife, Jillian Thomas, and daughter, Molly after winning the RBC Heritage golf tournament, Sunday, April 20, 2025, in Hilton Head Island, S.C. '… I had to look away because, when you're out there in the moment, you're focused on what you're doing… It's business, I'm trying to execute and do what im doing, I'm trying to win a golf tournament. '… It's hard to not start thinking about what could be when I see them. So that's where I had to just kind of put my head down and take a deep breath because that's when I feel like I can get into, 'I want this so bad for us.'' 4 Justin Thomas kisses his daughter Molly after winning the RBC Heritage golf tournament, Sunday, April 20, 2025, in Hilton Head Island, S.C. Thomas dons plaid jacket after RBC Heritage victory in playoff

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — Justin Thomas won the 2025 RBC Heritage with a birdie on the first playoff hole on April 20 at Harbour Town Golf Links. He defeated Andrew Novak on the 73rd hole. Thomas walks away with $3.6 million, which is 18 percent of the $20 million purse. Thomas, who was the 18-hole and 36-hole leader, came into the final round one stroke behind the 54-hole leader Si Woo Kim. Thomas, playing in the penultimate group, had a chance to birdie the 18th and move to 18 shots under par with Novak watching in the background. However, the birdie was unsuccessful. Then Novak, playing in the final group with Kim, had a birdie putt from a little more than eight feet to win the tournament. The putt was just short and forced a playoff with Thomas. As for our local golfers, Savannah native Brian Harman finished tied for third. He takes home $960,000. He was 14 shots under par. He shot 69 in the final round. As for Bluffton resident Brian Campbell, he completed his first RBC Heritage tied for 32nd. Overall, he was seven shots under par. He was one over par in the final round. This is the third time in the last four years the winner of RBC Heritage has needed more than 72 holes. In 2022, Jordan Spieth won in a playoff. In 2023, Matt Fitzpatrick topped Jordan Spieth in a three-hole playoff. This year, Thomas won over Novak. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Justin Thomas wins RBC Heritage, opens up about Netflix & family privacy

PGA Tour star Justin Thomas secured a long-awaited victory by winning the 2025 RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links, ending a three-year title drought. Thomas shot a final-round 68 to finish tied with Andrew Novak at 17-under-par before claiming the win with a birdie on the first playoff hole. This marks Thomas' first win since the 2022 PGA Championship and is a major confidence boost after two runner-up finishes earlier in the season. His victory reaffirms his status as one of the PGA Tour's top contenders. Off the course, Thomas recently shared his thoughts on Netflix's popular golf docuseries Full Swing, in which he has appeared across both seasons. While he praised the show for bringing more fans to the sport, he admitted he's uncomfortable with how much of his personal life it exposes—especially when it comes to his wife, Jillian Wisniewski. Speaking on Throwbacks ahead of the Masters, Thomas explained: 'My wife doesn't need to sit down and do an interview she doesn't want to. We just want to keep this part of our life separate.' Thomas and Wisniewski, who married in 2022 and welcomed daughter Molly Grace in 2024, have been selective about their public appearances. He acknowledged the irony of enjoying other Netflix sports documentaries while being hesitant to share more of his own life. With this win and candid commentary, Thomas is back in the spotlight—both as a champion and a family-first athlete navigating fame on his own terms.
