The 2025 SWA Awards, recognising excellence in screenwriting and lyricism within the film industry, celebrated its winners at a grand ceremony held on Saturday. Imtiaz Ali emerged as a standout, securing three of the four major awards for his work on Amar Singh Chamkila. Meanwhile, actor-turned-writer Kunal Kemmu received acclaim for his debut writing effort. Nikkhil Advani's historical drama Freedom At Midnight dominated the web category, earning significant recognition alongside Raat Jawan Hai writer Khyati Anand-Puthran. The evening began with a notable moment in the Best Debut (Film) category, where all three nominees were jointly awarded. The event took place at a prominent Mumbai hotel and marked the culmination of a rigorous seven-month evaluation process. A jury of 15 experienced screenwriters reviewed more than 1,500 submissions across 15 distinct categories before announcing the winners.
