2025 MADANI Rakyat Programme To Kick Off In Tawau From May 9 To 11

GENERAL KOTA KINABALU, April 30 (Bernama) -- The 2025 MADANI Rakyat Programme (PMR) will kick off this year with its first location at Dataran Majlis Perbandaran Tawau, from May 9 to 11, offering a variety of programmes offering a variety of activities and services aimed at benefiting residents, particularly those on the east coast of Sabah. Director of the Strategic Programmes at the Performance Acceleration and Improvement Coordination Unit (PACU) of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), Mohd Zainuddin Mohd Noor said the decision to hold the event in Tawau was to enable more east coast residents to participate, compared to last year's PMR, which took place in Likas on the west coast. 'Tawau was chosen so that our outreach programme can better reach the local community. We are bringing services, community support initiatives, and government-led programmes to the area. The public is encouraged to attend and take advantage of the various services provided,' he said in an interview on Selamat Pagi Malaysia aired by Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) today. The 2025 Sabah PMR, themed '`Eliminating Poverty Through Entrepreneurship', is organised with the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperative Development (KUSKOP) as the lead ministry, in collaboration with the Sabah government. Tawau is about 450 kilometres east of Kota Kinabalu. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to close the event at 2 pm on May 11. Mohd Zainuddin said the Sabah PMR 2025 would feature a variety of activities, including a showcase of seven key areas under Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), as well as legal assistance services where residents can seek advice on legal matters. He said 600 job vacancies would be offered by participating employers through open interviews during the programme. In the PMR last year, 1,500 job seekers were offered jobs after the interviews, he added. The National Registration Department (NRD), he said, will also be providing mobile services, offering advice on citizenship issues in Sabah, as well as handling the registration and replacement of identity cards and birth certificates.
