Education ministry concludes activities of 2025 Summer Camps
DOHA: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has concluded the 2025 Student Activities Summer Camps, organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Youth and a number of government agencies, educational, cultural, and community institutions.
The camp ran from July 6 to August 7 , at eight summer centers in public schools, with the participation of more than 1,800 male and female students of various age groups .
The summer camps aim to utilize their vacation to develop students' personal and leadership skills, discover their talents, and hone their skills in various fields. They also aim to instill national identity, values of citizenship, and social responsibility, foster creative thinking and innovation, enhance physical and mental health, raise awareness of the importance of well-being, and support sustainable education and a culture of self-development.
The centers are equipped with trained administrative staff and integrated electronic systems, ensuring the accuracy of procedures and speed of completion, while fully adhering to the approved instructions issued by the ministry. These centers also provide a stimulating environment for discovering and developing students' talents, under the supervision of an elite group of educators and administrators from ministries, government and private institutions, and educational centers .
This year's summer camps offered more than 550 diverse activities, covering culture, arts, creativity and design, sustainability and climate change, Islamic education, science, technology and artificial intelligence, social activities and communication skills, in addition to sports, health and proper nutrition, cybersecurity and digital solutions, as well as activities focusing on national identity and educational values .
Among the most prominent activities organized by the summer centers were electronic drawing and digital design workshops, the formation of a student choir that presented a distinguished group performance, and the organization of various recreational trips that contributed to strengthening team spirit and community interaction. These included a visit by students to the Zulal Health Resort, where they engaged in a variety of health, recreational, and sports activities .
The current edition also featured active parent participation, both in attendance and through delivering awareness lectures. This strengthened family bonds with the summer centers, and was clearly evident in the students' diverse talents and creativity.
In this context, Maryam Ali Al-Nusf Al-Buainain, Director of the Schools and Student Affairs Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, emphasized the important role played by summer centers in supporting students' progress and developing their skills. She noted that "summer centers are a supportive extension of the educational system, enabling students to express their creativity, strengthening their connection to national identity and societal values, and contributing to the preparation of a confident generation capable of facing the challenges of the future."
She also commended the efforts of the educational and administrative staff and volunteers, stressing that the success achieved by this edition reflects the integrated efforts of all stakeholders, especially given the comprehensiveness and diversity of the programs designed to meet students' needs and build a balanced personality, both intellectually and physically.
The role of volunteers from schools and universities, particularly those in the secondary and university levels, was highlighted in the areas of organization and field support, which reinforced the values of community service, the spirit of teamwork, and a sense of responsibility among students, contributing to the success of the program and the achievement of its objectives .
It's worth noting that the summer centers aim to prepare students capable of serving themselves and their communities through programs designed to suit all ages , including sports and arts activities, cultural workshops, and volunteer initiatives. These programs promote the values of cooperation and citizenship, and build a personality that contributes to community development.
