255 students from Dhofar to attend summer programme
SALALAH: The 2025 Summer School Programme for students has officially commenced across four summer centres in Dhofar Governorate. Organised by the Directorate-General of Education in the governorate, the two-week initiative is titled 'My Summer: Communication and Development', and brings together 255 male and female students from various schools in the governorate.
Hamed bin Bakhit al Mashikhi, Acting Director-General of the Directorate-General of Education in Dhofar and Chairman of the Local Committee supervising the programme, highlighted that the initiative aligns with the Ministry of Education's efforts to utilise summer vacations in developing students' skills in a safe, engaging environment. The programme also aims to instil national and societal values while preparing a generation equipped to adapt to technological advancements and uphold Omani identity.
The two-week initiative is titled 'My Summer: Communication and Development'
The programme includes a wide range of workshops and activities across social, volunteer, artistic, literary, sports, media and cultural domains, in addition to value-based themes.
During the first week, students will focus on building personal and social skills through physical activities and sessions aimed at creative thinking, problem-solving and teamwork. The second week emphasises national identity through competitions and cultural programmes that celebrate Omani values and traditions.
Activities are being held at Al Saidiya Boys School in Salalah, Manbaa Al Hikma School, Al Saada School and Durrat Dhofar Girls School. Scientific visits and recreational trips are also part of the educational plan. — ONA
