DES MOINES, Iowa — Exile Brewing Company won gold at the 2025 World Beer Cup. According to Exile, their G.G. brew took home silver at the World Beer Cup in 2024 and has won several other awards at national beer competitions. 'It's great to see that recognized with this gold medal from the World Beer Cup.' The World Beer Cup, established by the Brewers Association in 1996, is described as one of the world's most prestigious beer competitions. California beers named best in the world during international competition

Dozens of California breweries have received global recognition, with some of their products being named the best in the world. The 2025 World Beer Cup, an international competition organized by the not-for-profit Brewers Association, took place this past week in Indianapolis. Billing itself as the 'Olympics of Beer,' this year's competition was held over 14 sessions, spanning seven days with 256 judges from 37 different countries. Winners were announced May 1. 'The World Beer Cup competition continues to showcase the global industry's dedication to innovative craftsmanship, diverse flavors, and technical excellence,' said Chris Williams, World Beer Cup competition director. In total, 8,3715 beers from 1,761 breweries and cideries were entered into the World Beer Cup for consideration. The breweries came from all different corners of the globe, with 49 nations represented. At the end of the judging period, 349 awards were given out to beers in their respective categories, with three beers per category bestowed with the bronze, silver and gold awards. Among them, six breweries in the greater Los Angeles area, three in Orange and three in Los Angeles counties, received the prestigious gold awards for their beers. Anaheim-based Golden Road Brewing won for its Mango Cart in the Fruit Wheat Beer category, while fellow Anaheim brewery Brewery X claimed gold for Super Slap in the American-Style India Pale Ale category. Orange's Everywhere Brewery was awarded gold for Shifted Visions in the Juicy or Hazy India Pale Ale category. From Los Angeles, Arts District Brewing Co. earned top honors for Through The Roof in the International Pale Ale category; Claremont Craft Ales won Gold in the Experimental India Pale Ale category for its beer, Pepper & Peaches; and San Fernando Brewing Co. took Gold for Dr. Sleep in the Wood- and Barrel-Aged Beer category. 3 injured after car catches fire following multi-vehicle crash

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah () — Three people were taken to a local hospital after a car caught fire following a multi-vehicle crash in southern Utah on Saturday. According to Hurricane Valley Fire & Rescue, emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of a crash on State Route 59 just after 5 p.m. on May 3. While heading to the scene, officials learned that one of the vehicles was on fire and that 'multiple patients were involved.' 'Upon arrival, crews initiated triage and began fire suppression efforts,' Hurricane Valley Fire & Rescue said on social media. 'The incident involved two vehicles and a total of three patients, all of whom were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.' After responding, officials were able to extinguish the vehicle fire, as well as some nearby brush that had caught fire. The incident occurred near mile marker 12 on State Route 59. Several units responded to the scene, in addition to officials with the Utah Highway Patrol, UDOT Incident Management, Hurricane City Police Department, and the Washington County Sheriff's Office. Each of the three people involved received minor injuries. The latest conditions of the victims were not disclosed by officials as of Saturday evening. DENVER (KDVR) — The beer has been tasted and the results are in: 16 Colorado breweries make some of the best brews in the world. The 2025 World Beer Cup concluded on Thursday in Indianapolis, and awards were presented in 112 different beer categories. The event is known as the 'Olympics of Beer' and is described on the competition's website as 'the most prestigious beer competition in the world.' Denver ranks among 10 best beer cities in nation: USA Today In total, 21 beers from 16 Colorado breweries, 15 of which are independent craft breweries, received gold, silver and bronze medals in several categories. 'When industry professionals acknowledge the excellence in products from around the market, the consumer can be sure that those products are the finest available,' competition director Chris Williams says on the website. Winners were selected by a panel of 265 beer judges from 37 different countries. These judges are qualified with formal beer sensory training, ongoing beer sensory experience, industry and peer recognition, knowledge of beer styles and the brewing process, and judging demeanor. According to a release from the Colorado Brewers Guild, 8,375 beers were in the competition, coming from 1,761 breweries in 49 different countries.
