16 Colorado breweries win awards at World Beer Cup 2025
The 2025 World Beer Cup concluded on Thursday in Indianapolis, and awards were presented in 112 different beer categories. The event is known as the 'Olympics of Beer' and is described on the competition's website as 'the most prestigious beer competition in the world.'

In total, 21 beers from 16 Colorado breweries, 15 of which are independent craft breweries, received gold, silver and bronze medals in several categories.
'When industry professionals acknowledge the excellence in products from around the market, the consumer can be sure that those products are the finest available,' competition director Chris Williams says on the website.
Winners were selected by a panel of 265 beer judges from 37 different countries. These judges are qualified with formal beer sensory training, ongoing beer sensory experience, industry and peer recognition, knowledge of beer styles and the brewing process, and judging demeanor.
According to a release from the Colorado Brewers Guild, 8,375 beers were in the competition, coming from 1,761 breweries in 49 different countries.
'Colorado continues its tradition of making high quality world class beers! From Barley Wines to Belgian-style beers to Session IPAs, Colorado proved that they are able to brew a diverse range of beers for every palate,' Colorado Brewers Guild Executive Director Shawnee Adelson said in a release. 'Equally impressive is the consistency breweries like River North, Verboten, The Post, Westbound & Down and Cellar West showed with their streaks.'

New York Liberty sign former WNBA Finals MVP Emma Meesseman after long hiatus
The defending WNBA champions have officially added a former WNBA Finals MVP to their roster with fewer than six weeks to go until the playoffs. The New York Liberty announced on Friday, Aug. 1, that they have signed Belgian star Emma Meesseman, who is returning to the WNBA for the first time she was an All-Star in 2022 with the Chicago Sky. The versatile 6-foot-4 forward led Fenerbahçe in Instanbul, Turkey to two EuroLeague championships, led the Belgium national team to two EuroBasket titles and won three-consecutive EuroLeague MVPs during her hiatus from the WNBA. Meesseman, 32, is expected to make her debut with the Liberty on Friday in the first of two-consecutive regular season games against the last-place Connecticut Sun. Her addition brings another well-known playmaker to a roster that already featured Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones. 'Emma Meesseman's return to the WNBA is a tremendous moment for our league, and the fact that she chose New York for her next chapter speaks volumes,' Liberty general manager Jonathan Kolb said in a statement.
