2026 Chevrolet Traverse Review: Expert Insights, Pricing, and Trims
At home at the (warehouse) club or off the grid, the 2026 Traverse is Chevrolet's 3-row SUV with a base price under $50,000. The baby Tahoe-looking model was redesigned for 2024 with chunkier styling and originally joined the Chevrolet lineup for 2009. The ute made its bones as a roomy conveyance that trades the capability of the Tahoe and Suburban for greater affordability, a tradition it continues today. Competitors include the Honda Pilot, Kia Telluride, and Hyundai Palisade. What's New Changes to the 2026 Traverse include: Polar White Tricoat and Sandstone Gray exterior colors Driver Confidence package gains key card. This physical card gives users access to the SUV and allows them to start it, like a similar card that comes with Teslas. For the Traverse LT, a rear camera mirror is available through the Driver Confidence package Iridescent Pearl Tricoat and Harvest Bronze Metallic exterior hues have been retired What We Think This 2026 Chevrolet Traverse brings meaningful upgrades over its predecessor, including a turbocharged engine that delivers more output than the outgoing V-6. Although fuel economy sees little improvement, the new powertrain offers better drivability and quicker acceleration. Inside, the Traverse features large displays and updated safety tech, and although the cabin design is conservative, its controls are intuitive and user-friendly. The off-road-oriented Z71 and the premium High Country trim add more variety to the 2026 Traverse range. However, the absence of a hybrid or plug-in hybrid option is a missed opportunity to compete with the Toyota Grand Highlander and Hyundai Palisade. Still, with its bold styling and improved performance, the Traverse is well positioned to compete in the crowded 3-row SUV segment. Top-Ranked Competitors: Hyundai Palisade Kia Telluride Honda Pilot Mazda CX-90 Performance The Traverse's 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine carries over into 2026 producing 315 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. Output is routed through an eight-speed automatic transmission, and models are offered with standard FWD or available AWD. Towing capacity is pegged at 5,000 pounds. Accelerating to 60 mph should take roughly 7.0 seconds. MPGs and Range Fuel economy ratings come in at 20/27 mpg city/highway with FWD and 19/24 mpg with AWD. Curiously, driving range is better for the AWD model, but that's because it comes with a larger 21.7-gallon fuel tank. Range is 456 miles, while the FWD with its 19.4-gallon reservoir can go only 446 miles. The 2025 Telluride is both less efficient and comes with a smaller 18.8-gallon tank. Fuel economy ratings are 20/26 mpg city/highway with FWD and 18/23 mpg with AWD, while driving ranges are 414 miles and 376 miles, respectively. Safety Ratings and Features The Traverse performs well in safety testing: 2025 IIHS Top Safety Pick NHTSA 5-star overall rating Standard driver assist features include: Forward and reverse automatic emergency braking Adaptive cruise control Blind-spot monitoring Lane keeping Auto high-beams Cargo Space and Interior Room The Traverse boasts a spacious interior with room for up to eight passengers and a big cargo hold. The Telluride and Pilot deliver a skosh more legroom in the second and third rows, respectively. Technology Infotainment An 11.0-inch display sits before the driver, while infotainment is controlled through a 17.7-inch touchscreen with Google integration. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard. Chevy also includes a wireless phone charger and a half dozen USB ports throughout the cabin, and a 120-volt outlet is available. Sound System Base models feature a six-speaker setup. The Bose 12-speaker upgrade comes with a subwoofer. Available Upgrades Super Cruise self-driving technology is offered through the Enhanced Driving package that's available for LT and Z71, and standard on the High Country and RS. The suite also adds Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist, Driver Attention Assist, and an audio system upgrade. Value Think of the 2026 Traverse as a less premium GMC Acadia, with the same strong powertrain and roomy cabin. Standard features are not as plentiful, and fuel economy could be better for both, but the Chevrolet SUV is redeemed by its practical interior and lower prices. Recommended Trim Our pick in the Chevrolet Traverse lineup is the LT model with AWD, which emphasizes practical essentials. It comes equipped with a hands-free power tailgate, second-row captain's chairs, and a power-adjustable driver's seat with lumbar support.

Honda Unveils Eye-Popping 2026 HR-V
Honda's compact SUV is back Honda has just revealed the 2026 model year HR-V, with a few changes and upgrades to set it apart from its predecessor. The 2026 HR-V will continue to use the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque through a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations. AWD remains optional, and it appears that efficiency numbers (listed below) will remain about the same. 2026 Honda HR-V EX-L Once again, the 2026 Honda HR-V will be based on the eleventh-generation Honda Civic. This is the second generation of the HR-V for our market, and Honda sold nearly 139,000 units in the U.S. over the 2024 model year, a nearly 14-percent increase over 2023. Still, it's been a few years since the second-generation model was introduced, so some changes are needed. Three trims will be available. The base model HR-V LX now comes with 'Pewter Gray' 17-inch alloy wheels, while the HR-V Sport gets new 18-inch 'Berlina Black' alloy wheels. The top-of-the-line HR-V EX-L also sports 18-inch alloy wheels, albeit with a machine-finished look. Two new exterior colors join the roster: 'Solar Reflection Metallic,' which is available on the LX and EX-L, and 'Boost Blue Pearl,' which is only available on the HR-V Sport. Base model HR-Vs get rear privacy glass, and mid-level trims get blacked-out rear badging. 2026 Honda HR-V Pricing & EPA Fuel Economy Ratings Trim MSRP MSRP Plus $1,395 Destination Charge EPA Mileage Rating City/Hwy/Comb4 LX (FWD) $26,200 $27,595 26 / 32 / 28 LX (AWD) $27,700 $29,095 25 / 30 / 27 Sport (FWD) $28,000 $29,395 26 / 32 / 28 Sport (AWD) $29,500 $30,895 25 / 30 / 27 EX-L (FWD) $30,050 $31,445 26 / 32 / 28 EX-L (AWD) $31,550 $32,945 25 / 30 / 27 The interior gets some upgrades, too The base model LX and mid-level Sport get a larger 9-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and wireless charging. New front footwell lighting mirrors the dynamic climate control knob lighting, which can be blue, red, or white. The steering wheel has a silver finish and has also been restyled. Honda's suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies will also come standard. Like the previous model, Honda is including 'next generation' airbags as well as knee and rear passenger side impact airbags. Final thoughts While the basic looks and performance remain the same, Honda was smart to give the HR-V a mid-cycle refresh. It's one of its better sellers and remains competitive against the Toyota Corolla Cross, Mazda CX-30, and Nissan Kicks, among others. With competitive pricing and fuel economy, it stands a chance of making an impact in its segment. The 2026 Honda HR-V is arriving at dealerships now.

2026 Honda HR-V: Not Much Change, For a Change
Has it been three years already? Yes, we suppose it has. Honda launched the latest iteration of the HR-V subcompact SUV for the 2023 model year, and now it's time for the usual mid-cycle model refresh. Except we're starting to wonder if Honda isn't getting as cynical about this as we are, because the updates are so minor as to be practically nonexistent. And you know what, that's just fine. Granted, we got nothing on our wish list—in particular, more power!—but the HR-V is a fine little vehicle otherwise, currently ranked third among subcompact SUVs in MT's Ultimate Car Rankings. Why change for the sake of change? 0:00 / 0:00 What's New with the 2026 Honda HR-V Honda's press release touts 'refreshed exterior and interior styling details,' but perhaps that was written by AI, because the only differences seem to be new wheels for all three trims (including a change from 17-inch rims to 18s for the EX-L; previously on the Sport had 18s) and a gloss-black badge for the Sport model. There are also two new colors, Solar Reflection Metallic (read: gray) and a rather fetching shade of blue called Boost Blue Pearl. Tinted glass is now standard on the LX, whereas it previously only came with Sport and EX-L models. Inside, all HR-Vs now get the 9.0-inch center touch-screen that was used to be the exclusive domain of the EX-L; in the past, entry-level LX and mid-level Sport versions got a 7.0-inch screen (dark days, those, how did we live?). Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a wireless charging pad, also formerly reserved for the EX-L, are now standard in all HR-Vs. So what's left to differentiate the EX-L? Along with its leather interior, that model now gets silver spokes on the steering wheel, illuminated footwells, and 'dynamic climate control lighting,' which means that the dials change color when you dial in different temperatures. Nice. A Little More HR-V, A Little More Money And, of course, prices are up—by $1,145 for the LX model, $845 for the Sport, and $895 for the EX-L. The range now starts at $27,595 (including destination fee) for a front-wheel-drive HR-V LX, running up to $32,945 for an all-wheel-drive EX-L. Truth be told, it's kind of nice to see a good SUV left alone. Granted, we don't know if there's anything here to propel the HR-V past the Hyundai Kona and Subaru Crosstrek in our Ultimate Car Rankings. We'd love it to have more power—it's ridiculously slow—and better fuel economy, and we wish it were quieter. In other words, we fully expected Honda to shove the same excellent hybrid powertrain it added to the related Civic sedan and hatchback last year, which has both plenty of power and better efficiency than the HR-V's pokey 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine—but alas, Honda did not. But the HR-V has found a strong buyer base, and Honda was right not to change it too much. See, a little cynicism is never a bad thing.

2026 Honda HR-V Starts at $27,595 and Adds a Larger Touchscreen
The 2026 Honda HR-V is getting a variety of minor updates that mirror those given to the 2026 Honda CR-V. The main updates include a new 9.0-inch infotainment touchscreen and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The HR-V's prices are slightly higher for the new model year, now ranging from $27,595 for the front-drive LX to $32,945 for the AWD EX-L. Honda says the HR-V subcompact SUV is the most popular SUV in America among Gen Z shoppers. Apparently, that claim isn't good enough for Honda, because for the 2026 model year, the brand is making several changes to the HR-V to help increase popularity with young buyers. That said, the majority of the changes are incredibly minor. From the outside, the 2026 car looks practically identical to the 2025 version. The only clues are two new paint colors (Solar Reflection Metallic and Boost Blue Pearl), new wheel designs for all three trims, and new black badging on the tailgate of Sport models. Solar Reflection is available on the LX and EX-L, while Boost Blue is only available on the Sport trim. Honda Inside, updates to the 2026 HR-V are tech-focused and closely mirror those added to the 2026 Honda CR-V. That means a new 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. That screen is also two inches larger than last year. There's new front footwell lighting too, silver steering-wheel spokes, and a new climate-control knob for the EX-L. Lastly, privacy rear glass now comes standard on all three trims. Honda Honda While they're higher than last year, pricing changes for the 2026 Honda HR-V are similarly minor. The front-wheel-drive LX now starts at $27,595 (up from $26,795). The front-drive Sport model runs $29,395, and the range-topping EX-L starts at $31,445. All-wheel drive can be added to each of the three trims for an additional $1500. According to Honda, 2026 models are already on sale. Jack Fitzgerald Associate News Editor Jack Fitzgerald's love for cars stems from his as yet unshakable addiction to Formula 1. After a brief stint as a detailer for a local dealership group in college, he knew he needed a more permanent way to drive all the new cars he couldn't afford and decided to pursue a career in auto writing. By hounding his college professors at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, he was able to travel Wisconsin seeking out stories in the auto world before landing his dream job at Car and Driver. His new goal is to delay the inevitable demise of his 2010 Volkswagen Golf. Read full bio

The 2026 Kia Sportage Is Surprisingly Cheap
It's common for refreshed vehicles to have price increases. The 2026 Kia Sportage , with its new face and other updates , is no exception. When it goes on sale later this summer, it'll be a bit more expensive than last year. However, the increase is surprisingly reasonable for a refresh, never mind one reaching dealerships amid a tariff war. The 2026 Sportage starts at $28,690. That's a $1,300 bump compared to last year, not bad considering the Trump administration's tariffs on imported vehicles and parts are now in full force. Kia's $1,395 destination charge hasn't changed for 2026, and with that added in, the new Sportage has an MSRP of $30,085. Photo by: Kia That gets you a Sportage LX with front-wheel drive, powered by a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine making 187 horsepower. Inside you get dual 12.3-inch digital displays for the driver and infotainment system, wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, adaptive cruise control, and a bevy of driver assist systems, including automatic emergency braking. These features are standard across the entire Sportage lineup. Stepping up to the EX is only $1,000 more than a year ago. The Sportage EX FWD starts at $31,885 and adds features like heated front seats, a power rear hatch, and blind-spot monitoring, among others. The SX starts at $34,290—$1,300 more versus 2025—and plugs in a panoramic roof, the Harman Kardon eight-speaker stereo, and more advanced driver-assist tech. Here's a complete price breakdown of 2026 Kia Sportage trim levels. All prices include the $1,395 destination fee. Model/Trim Price (including destination) Sportage LX FWD $30,385 Sportage LX AWD $31,885 Sportage EX FWD $31,885 Sportage EX AWD $33,685 Sportage SX FWD $35,685 Sportage SX Prestige FWD $37,685 Sportage SX Prestige AWD $39,485 Sportage X-Line AWD $34,385 Sportage X-Pro Prestige AWD $40,985 Kia did away with the bracketed running lights and tiger face of the outgoing model. In its place is the brand's "Opposites United" design language with a larger grille and vertically oriented lights. The brackets are still there, but the result is a more symmetrical face. A similar theme was undertaken for the interior, providing a cleaner vibe for the integrated displays to shine. The price bump is minor, but will tariffs have an impact later on? We asked Kia about that, and we're still awaiting a reply. It's worth nothing that 2026 models won't reach dealerships until the summer. That suggests the current pricing already has tariffs factored in. If Kia tells us otherwise, we'll certainly let you know. It's also worth noting that the Sportage—Kia's best-selling model in America—is assembled in West Point, Georgia. It's the only Kia factory located in the United States, though the Sportage is also built in other locations around the world. That could certainly be a factor behind the relatively minor price bump in the face of tariffs, though the Korean-based company certainly imports all kinds of parts from global suppliers. The pricing listed here only applies to the 2026 Sportage with standard combustion powertrains. Pricing for hybrid models will come later this year. Kia News: What Tariffs?
