Two women arrested, officer assaulted in Moser River: N.S. RCMP

An RCMP detachment can be seen in this file photo. (David Prisciak/CTV News) An RCMP officer was allegedly assaulted when police responded to a report of an altercation at a Moser River home. When officers arrived at the Moser River North Road home, around 1:10 a.m. Wednesday, six adults were located. According to police, five of them displayed signs of impairment. 'One RCMP officer was assaulted by a 20-year-old woman from Halifax. During her arrest she assaulted a second officer,' reads a news release from the Nova Scotia RCMP. Police say officers learned a 19-year-old woman from Halifax, who was present in the home, lied about her identity and was wanted on a provincewide arrest warrant. The 19-year-old was arrested and later released. She is scheduled to appear in court to face a charge of obstructing a peace officer. The 20-year-old was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court on July 23 to face two counts of assaulting a peace officers, resisting arrest and mischief. A465 quadbike crash sees murder arrest after man dies

Two men have been arrested, including one on suspicion of murder, after a man died following a crash involving a quadbike on a main road.A 20-year-old man from Brynmawr, Blaenau Gwent, was pronounced dead at the scene after a quadbike was found overturned on the A465 westbound between Rhymney, Caerphilly, and Dowlais, Merthyr Tydfil, at around 04:50 BST on Saturday.A 40-year-old man from Merthyr Tydfil has been arrested on suspicion of murder and driving while unfit through drink and driving while unfit through drugs.A second man, a 37-year-old from Merthyr Tydfil, has been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and assisting an offender. Both remain in police believe a second vehicle – a white BMW found burned out in the Dowlais area – may have been involved in the crash.

A 20-year-old Kitchener man is in an out-of-region hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a Toyota SUV Tuesday evening in the downtown area. Police were called to the intersection of King Street E. and Cedar Street N. just before 6 p.m. for reports of a collision between the SUV and a cyclist. The 38-year-old Kitchener man who was driving the SUV was not injured, police said in a release. The intersection was closed for several hours for the investigation. Police say charges are anticipated in the case. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who have video footage of what happened is asked to contact the Waterloo Regional Police Service.
