Two women arrested, officer assaulted in Moser River: N.S. RCMP
An RCMP officer was allegedly assaulted when police responded to a report of an altercation at a Moser River home.
When officers arrived at the Moser River North Road home, around 1:10 a.m. Wednesday, six adults were located. According to police, five of them displayed signs of impairment.
'One RCMP officer was assaulted by a 20-year-old woman from Halifax. During her arrest she assaulted a second officer,' reads a news release from the Nova Scotia RCMP.
Police say officers learned a 19-year-old woman from Halifax, who was present in the home, lied about her identity and was wanted on a provincewide arrest warrant.
The 19-year-old was arrested and later released. She is scheduled to appear in court to face a charge of obstructing a peace officer.
The 20-year-old was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth provincial court on July 23 to face two counts of assaulting a peace officers, resisting arrest and mischief.
Police say the investigation into an alleged assault at the home between the six adults who were present is ongoing.

Mother pleads not guilty in ATV crash that killed four-month-old baby
A 28-year-old woman from Lunenburg County who is accused of crashing her all-terrain vehicle while impaired has pleaded not guilty to three charges arising from the incident, which killed her infant daughter. The lawyer for Madisyn Elizabeth Parker appeared in Nova Scotia provincial court in Bridgewater, N.S., Wednesday morning to enter the not guilty pleas and elect trial in provincial court. Four days have been set aside beginning on July 6 of next year for the trial. Parker was not in court for Wednesday's appearance. She remains free on condition in the meantime. The three charges Parker faces are: Impaired operation of a conveyance causing death. Dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death. Causing death by criminal negligence. The crash occurred on May 27, 2024. The vehicle, a Polaris Rzr, was travelling on a narrow stretch of a gravel logging road near New Ross when it rolled and came to rest on its roof, police said. There were two adults and two children on the side-by-side ATV when it crashed. The second child, a young boy, received minor injuries. The infant girl was transported by paramedics to hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries, police said at the time. An obituary says the baby girl was four months old at the time of her death. Parker and a 52-year-old man from New Ross were both seriously injured. Police alleged the driver's blood-alcohol concentration was more than twice the legal limit at the time of the crash.
