Patrick Kielty's family reveal key moment they thought Cat Deeley marriage was over
The couple have insisted they would 'continue to be united as loving parents to their children'

The family of Patrick Kielty were reportedly left fuming over a pivotal moment that signalled the end of his marriage to Cat Deeley. Last month, the celebrity couple released a joint statement confirming their separation, stating: "We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved."
They added: "We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected. There will be no further comment."
It's believed that Cat Deeley's absence from the funeral of Patrick's mother Mary in March caused significant upset within the Kielty family, with many seeing this as a clear indication that their union was irreparably broken.
A family member explained to the Daily Mail their disappointment, saying: "Whatever rockiness was going on in the marriage, something as a momentous as his mother's funeral, you would make up even temporarily and just put your 'best face' on as we say in Northern Ireland".
They continued: "Cat obviously knew how close Patrick was to Mary and she should have come to be by his side, a hand on his shoulder as he buried his mother.

The source revealed that people remain stunned by Cat's behaviour, stating: "It was the point when we all realised that that marriage had ended."

A representative explained to Mirror at the time: "Cat remained at home to be there for her two young children before and after school on this very sad day."
Patrick's relatives are reportedly supporting the broadcaster as he navigates what lies ahead.
The pair first crossed paths whilst presenting BBC's Fame Academy back in 2002.
Nevertheless, they didn't step out publicly as a romantic item until nine years afterwards in 2011.
Merely twelve months later in September 2012, they exchanged vows during a ceremony in Rome and welcomed two children together.
Whilst Cat appears alongside Ben Shephard on This Morning, Northern Irish host Patrick fronts RTE chat show The Late Late Show, having succeeded Ryan Tubridy in 2023.
The timing of the couple's separation remains uncertain. Nevertheless, with the pair living apart due to clashing work commitments between Ireland and London, this is believed to have played a role in their relationship breakdown.
Cat's final mention of Patrick on her Instagram account occurred in October 2023.
On that occasion, she shared a peculiar 90s-inspired collection of images featuring them both.
She captioned it: "Slightly terrifying but obsessed."

The couple's last public outing was a month prior. She also posted a snapshot of the two of them at the event on her social media, beaming as they prepared for the occasion and later seated among the audience.
