SAMA: Over 228 million POS transactions worth SR13.6 billion recorded in a week
Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — The number of point-of-sale (POS) transactions in Saudi Arabia during the period from August 3 to 9 reached 228,521,000 with a total value of SR13,680,152,000, compared to SR15,606,245,000 in the previous week. It was revealed in the weekly bulletin released by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) on points of sale. According to the bulletin, the number of transactions in the transportation sector accounted for 5,819,000 with a value of SR1,037,310,000. The transactions in the health sector amounted to 9,862,000 with a value of SR881,566,000 while in restaurants and cafes sector there were 56,962,000 transactions with a value of SR1,752,504,000, and in baked goods and sweets sector, there were 4,928,000 transactions with a value of SR221,732,000. In hotel sector, there were 989,000 transactions with a value of SR349,972,000, while in food and beverages sector, there were 51,976,000 transactions with a value of SR1,927,744,000, and in clothing and accessories sector, there were 8,378,000 transactions with a value of SR998,901,000, and in culture and entertainment sector, there were 3,663,000 transactions worth SR345,581,000. The number of transactions in professional and commercial services reached 15,083,000 with a value of SR1,035,612,000, while in electronic and electrical appliances, there were 1,641,000 transactions with a value of SR174,837,000, and in furniture and household supplies, there were 2,608,000 transactions with a value of SR489,296,000. In building and construction materials sector, there were 2,447,000 transactions, with a value of SR409,450,000 while in jewelry sector, there were 293,000 transactions, with a value of SR315,067,000, and in communications sector, there were 3,458,000 transactions with a value of SR149,926,000. In education sector, there were 161,000 transactions with a value of SR251,786,000. The public benefits and services sector recorded 700,000 transactions worth SR47,374,000, while in fuel stations, there were 17,226,000 transactions worth SR993,775,000. In laundry services there were 2,914,000 transactions worth SR52,588,000, while the number of other transactions amounted to 39,414,000 worth SR2,245,133,000. At the level of the Kingdom's cities, the number of weekly point-of-sale transactions in Riyadh reached 71,884,000 with a value of SR4,582,144,000, and the number of POS transactions in Makkah reached 9,270,000 with a value of SR578,049,000, while the number of POS transactions in Madinah reached SR9,197,000 with a value of SR545,698,000. The number of POS transactions in Tabuk reached 4,488,000 with a value of SR234,223,000; the number of POS transactions in Hail reached 3,985,000 with a value of SR213,074,000; the number of POS transactions in Abha reached 5,130,000 with a value of SR285,038,000, and the number of POS transactions in Buraidah reached 4,982,000 with a value of SR320,796,000. The number of point of sale transactions in Al-Khobar reached 4,399,000 with a value of SR362,230,000, and the number of POS transactions in Dammam reached 8,579,000 with a value of SR634,676,000. The number of point of sale transactions in Jeddah reached 26,498,000 with a value of SR19,089,220, and the number of POS transactions in other cities reached 20,990,000 with a value of SR878,067,000, the SAMA report pointed out.

Gold prices drop Rs460 in Pakistan
Gold prices in Pakistan decreased on Thursday in line with their fall in the international market. In the local market, gold price per tola reached Rs358,595 after a decline of Rs460 during the day. Meanwhile, 10-gram gold was sold at Rs307,437 after it fell Rs394, according to the rates shared by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA). On Wednesday, gold price per tola reached Rs383,055 after a decline of Rs2,245 during the day. The international rate of gold also decreased on Thursday. The rate was at $3,372 per ounce (with a premium of $20), a decrease of $6, as per APGJSA. Meanwhile, silver price per tola decreased by Rs58 to reach Rs3,820.

Gold price per tola further falls Rs2,245 in Pakistan
Gold prices in Pakistan decreased on Wednesday in line with their fall in the international market. In the local market, gold price per tola reached Rs383,055 after a decline of Rs2,245 during the day. Meanwhile, 10-gram gold was sold at Rs307,831 after it fell Rs1,925, according to the rates shared by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA). On Tuesday, gold price per tola reached Rs361,300 after a decline of Rs1,000 during the day. The international rate of gold also decreased on Wednesday. The rate was at $3,378 per ounce (with a premium of $20), a decrease of $20, as per APGJSA. Meanwhile, silver price per tola increased by Rs22 to reach Rs3,878.

Not only are some of them easy and pocket-friendly, but they could also be a fun little activity if you're feeling a bit worse for wear or in need of a quick getaway to refresh yourself. Daycations, staycations and vacations – all are a possibility. Here are all the ways you can travel to Oman. By air If you're looking for an easy breezy in-and-out of the country, taking a flight might be your best option, mostly because of how short the journey is. A flight to Muscat International Airport from any airport in the UAE will last around 45 minutes to an hour. Flights are available daily from Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah at reasonable rates. If you're flying from Dubai, Emirates and FlyDubai have round-trip flights starting from Dhs1,245 and Dhs805 respectively. Air Arabia from Sharjah starts at Dhs1,168 for a roundtrip. By road Buses You can take a bus to multiple destinations within Oman, including Muscat, Sohar and Salalah. Mwasalat, Oman's national transportation company has a bus route to Abu Dhabi via Al Ain to Oman. There is also a route between the UAE and Oman by Oman's national transport company Mwasalat, connecting the two countries between Sharjah and Muscat. For Dubai, residents can use the bus services through Al Khanjry Transport. Operating daily, this service provides daily services at 7am, 3pm, and 9pm from the office of Al Khanjry Transport in Dubai, at Dhs95 per ticket for one-way. Bus rides to Oman take approximately six hours and includes rest stops, immigration services and more. From Muscat to Abu Dhabi, buses will depart from the Azaiba bus station in Muscat at 6.30am and arrive at the Abu Dhabi bus station at 3.40pm. From Abu Dhabi to Muscat, buses will depart Abu Dhabi at 10.45am and arrive at the Azaiba bus station at 8.35pm. A one-way ticket for the ride will cost you Dhs109.70 or 11.5 Omani Riyals. As for baggage allowance, passengers will be able to bring up to 23kg of big luggage and up to 7kg of hand baggage. By car The road network connection from the UAE to Oman is made up of multiple border posts, routes and fantastic highways that will make driving a breeze. The journey takes approximately five hours, and is perfect for a quick road trip getaway. If you love taking long drives, it might be a little more convenient than the bus, considering you can stop and drive according to your convenience. The most popular border post open to UAE residents for crossing is Hatta – Al Wajajah. This post is closest to Dubai and Sharjah. Al Darah is closest to Ras Al Khaimah, whereas Dibba and Khatmat Milaha are connected via Fujairah. For Abu Dhabi residents, the Mezyad border post is the best option. Safe travels!
