Emergency services rushed to a home on Gulgoa Bend in Villawood following reports a child had been hit by a 4WD on the driveway of the property. Paramedics and a specialist medical team arrived at the property to find the child suffering from critical head injuries. The eight-month-old went into cardiac arrest a short time later and was rushed to The Children's Hospital at Westmead. A crime scene has been established. The driver of the vehicle, a 28-year-old woman, was taken to Westmead Hospital for mandatory testing and is assisting police with their inquiries. Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding the event. A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
