Cruel Cork memes surface after All-Ireland collapse
Cruel Cork memes have swept across the internet after the Rebels blew a six-point lead at half time in the All-Ireland final.
Heading into the final, Cork were heavy favourites after demolishing Dublin in the semis and scoring seven goals in the process.
However, despite a strong first half that saw the Munster champions taking a comfortable lead, Tipperary staged a stunning comeback that left the Rebels, and those watching across the country, in a state of disbelief. 20 July 2025; Niall O'Leary of Cork after his side's defeat in the GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship final match between Cork and Tipperary at Croke Park in Dublin. The Premier county rinsed Cork in the second half, eventually winning by a margin of 3-27 to 1-18, securing their 29th title in front of a packed crowd.
Cork, chasing their first All-Ireland since 2005, managed just two points in the second half after scoring 1-16 in the first 35.
Tipperary, revitalised and ruthless after the break, took full advantage of Cork's collective collapse, eventually winning by a jarring 15-point margin. 20 July 2025; Darragh McCarthy of Tipperary celebrates during the GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship final match between Cork and Tipperary at Croke Park in Dublin. Cork's disaster-class went from bad to worse when Eoin Downey received a second yellow card in the 53rd minute.
Cork were down a man and a Tipp penalty was coolly converted by teenage sensation Darragh McCarthy. That goal gave Tipp their first lead, and from there, they never looked back.
