'She won't stop posting private photos of me on social media - and laughs when I ask her to stop': This is such a common problem, says CAROLINE WEST-MEADS... and my answer may surprise you

Q My younger sister, who is 30, is much more outgoing and gregarious than me. I'm nine years older and, as the eldest sibling, always felt I had to be more responsible. We were not very close growing up because of the age gap, but since her 20s she has become like a good friend. We often socialise together now, especially recently as I have been feeling lonely after splitting from a long-time partner, which has been devastating. The problem is that she constantly posts our activities on social media, which I hate. So if I'm out with her and friends I have to expect lots of selfies and sometimes photos of me when I'm off-guard. Even if it's just for friends and family, I dislike being in so many pictures and worry about their impact on my job.

What percentage of her net worth should a 30-year-old professional have in the stock market? I am not going to give you investment advice, and there is a wide range of plausible answers. 'Zero, put it all in Bitcoin' is I guess on the list. A popular rule of thumb would say 70% in stocks, with the other 30% in bonds and cash. There is, however, a good theoretical case that the right answer is really 200%, or 500%: Most of a young professional's economic wealth is the present value of her future employment income, and borrowing money to buy more stocks is a good way to diversify away from that one risky asset. 1 Also many 30-year-old professionals buy houses for considerably more than 200% of their net worth, and putting 200% of their net worth into the stock market could again be useful diversification. But it is not easy to put 200% of your net worth into the stock market, because where will you get the money? A mortgage on a house is a pretty standard product in the US, but a mortgage on a retirement account is not. Bloomberg's Suzanne Woolley reports on someone trying to change that:

Can You Develop a Peanut Allergy Later in Life?

It's possible to develop a peanut allergy later in your life. According to a 2021 study, approximately 17.5% of people with peanut allergies developed the allergy as adults. Adult-onset peanut allergies typically occur between the ages of 30 and 39. What makes adults more likely to develop peanut allergies? People with existing allergic conditions, such as eczema or asthma, insect sting allergies, or latex allergies, are more likely to develop new allergies as adults. Genetics may also play a role. If a family member has a peanut allergy, it could raise your risk of developing a peanut allergy later in life. It's also possible that your peanut allergy was present in your childhood but not recognized or diagnosed until later in life. Other factors that might increase your risk of developing a peanut allergy as an adult include: Environmental exposure: Moving to a different location can trigger a new allergic reaction, due to exposure to new allergens. Gut microbiota: A 2023 study found that changes in gut microbiota may play a role in the development of peanut allergies. But more research is needed to confirm this theory. Immune system changes: As people age, their immune systems can become more sensitive to allergens, triggering new allergies. What are the symptoms of a peanut allergy? Symptoms of a peanut allergy can vary in severity. Common symptoms include: If you experience any of these symptoms and suspect a peanut allergy, seek medical attention immediately. Your symptoms may worsen as the peanut allergen passes through your system. A healthcare professional can help rule out other causes, manage symptoms, and keep them from getting worse. A severe reaction to peanuts might include anaphylaxis. Anaphylaxis causes acute symptoms, such as constriction (swelling) of airways, low pulse, and shock, which is known as anaphylactic shock. This can be fatal if it isn't treated immediately.
