Police investigating fight at Brunei trade expo that has gone viral
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Following the circulation of several viral videos on social media on Thursday (June 27) depicting a physical altercation, the Berakas Police Station has received a report and is currently investigating the incident.
According to the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), the footage shows two senior citizens involved in a fight with a young man at the 31st Consumer Fair and Trade Expo currently held at the International Convention Centre.
The case is being investigated under Section 160 of the Penal Code for the offence of fighting in a public place, which carries a penalty of imprisonment for up to three years and/or a fine, upon conviction.
The public is advised not to overreact or take matters into their own hands in ways that may breach the law.
Members of the public are also urged not to speculate or spread unverified information that could affect the safety and well-being of those involved. – Borneo Bulletin/ANN
