PAC jawan shoots self in Sonbhadra
Lucknow: A PAC jawan allegedly shot himself while on duty in Sonbhadra district on Friday.
The jawan,
Sandeep Singh
(26), a native of Ballia, was taken to the community health centre (CHC), where doctors pronounced him dead.
Sandeep was stationed at 39th Battalion in Mirzapur and returned to Amwar PAC camp in Sonbhadra on Aug 5 after completing VVIP duty in Varanasi.
Around 3.55am, just five minutes before his shift was about to end, he woke up his colleague, Piyush Paswan, informing him that it was time for his duty.
Sandeep then returned to his seat and shot himself. Sandeep's father Vinod Kumar, who works as a clerk at a college in Ballia, recounted his last conversation with his son. He said that Sandeep called him at 9pm, mentioning his duty hours and added that he was going to have dinner.
Sandeep's father, uncles Anoop Singh and Chandra Bhan, and younger brother Pradeep, reached Sonbhadra and expressed disbelief over Sandeep's action.
