Nineveh announces major expansion plan with 160,000 dunams for new development projects
Mosul ( – Nineveh Governorate is set to add 160,000 dunams for new development projects spanning housing, industry, commerce, and services, Governor Abdul Qadir Al-Dakhil announced on Thursday (May 22, 2025). The announcement came during the 3rd Our Industry is Our Identity festival in Mosul, organized by the Nineveh Chamber of Industry.
Governor Al-Dakhil emphasized Nineveh's historical industrial strength and the current drive to revive it through self-sustaining projects that create jobs, moving beyond sole reliance on rentier budgets. He highlighted the upcoming opening of Mosul Airport as a qualitative leap for the province.
Mohammed Ali Hazem Al-Mashhadani, Head of the Nineveh Chamber of Industry, echoed the Made in Iraq vision and urged the governor to expedite the approval of proposed new industrial zones. He noted over 2,800 pending requests for industrial land allocation since 2017, underscoring the demand.
These plans signal a significant push for urban expansion and industrial revitalization in Nineveh, aiming to transform the region into a dynamic economic hub.
