Commuters in Delhi should anticipate significant traffic disruptions around Hauz Khas this Friday afternoon due to the 47th Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath. Delhi Police have issued advisories detailing diversions and restrictions on Aurobindo Marg and surrounding roads from 2 pm to 6 pm.
NEW DELHI: Commuters passing through or near Hauz Khas in Delhi should brace for heavy traffic on Friday afternoon as the 47th Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath will be held in the area between 2pm and 6pm.
Delhi Police has issued a detailed advisory, announcing diversions and movement restrictions on key arterial roads, especially around Aurobindo Marg and the IIT Flyover.
Vehicular movement on Aurobindo Marg—from IIT Flyover to the AIIMS Loop—will remain restricted during the procession hours, with possible congestion on surrounding stretches such as Outer Ring Road, Ring Road and August Kranti Marg.

The religious procession, being organised by Sree Neelachala Seva Sangha, is expected to draw large crowds.
Delhi Traffic Police has urged motorists to avoid the affected zones and plan their routes accordingly.
Diversions and alternative routes
From Mehrauli/MG Road to New Delhi: Use Outer Ring Road – Panchsheel Flyover – August Kranti Marg via AIIMS Flyover. Alternatively, turn left from IIT Flyover and take Africa Avenue Road from IIT Gate to reach New Delhi.
From New Delhi to Mehrauli/Gurugram via Aurobindo Marg: Take Ring Road – turn right from Andrews Ganj Flyover – August Kranti Marg.
Emergency vehicles exempted, but advised caution
Emergency services such as ambulances, fire brigades, and Delhi Police vehicles will be allowed through restricted zones, but are advised to avoid Aurobindo Marg to prevent delays.
